The owner should not have gotten strangers to substitute his regular movers especially when he doesn't know who they are or how to track them when they destroy property the owner should've also spoken with me about how we would be reimbursed or they would be some type of resolution to our property being destroyed. The movers also delivered almost all of the boxes to the new house upside down even though they were arrows with the upside showing. they dropped an entire washing machine because they used the wrong equipment and lied when I asked if they had the correct equipment even though I volunteered to go buy the correct equipment. Do NOT use this company (owner: Roger). I repeat DO NOT. Red flag #1: He is not the one who will move you, he hires another company (or really just a few random guys who smell like cigarettes who are NOT experienced at all). Roger was the one who came to assess my items and provide the quote but he was not who came for the move. First, they show up 1 hour late with no communication. They are NOT efficient at all, my husband helped the entire time because they were so slow. (This doesn't matter in terms of cost bc it is a fixed price but still, it's really annoying to watch when you've moved 5 times in the past 5 years, you get to notice who's good and who's not, and these men were NOT good) So once the loading gets done, the guy tells me that they are all done and that we can take off. So I'm like ok, we take off on our 3 hour drive, which turned into a 4 hour drive due to traffic. Right when I get to our new place, the guy calls me and tells me he left some of my stuff in the elevator of my old apt. That's all he says as if like that's no big deal. Me: so what are you going to do about it? Him: we will bring it to you later. Him: I believe it was the ottoman (of my sofa) and all the sofa cushions and the black table. So I agree, they unload everything and take off with the promise to deliver the rest of the stuff later in the week. I even freaking tipped them $50 as I don't feel right not tipping. (In retrospect, they not only did not deserve the tip, I do not think the $1500 I paid was justified- keep reading) So 3 days go by, the guy returns with my couch cushion, black table, and no ottoman. He doesn't even remember the ottoman, he drops off the couch cushion and black table and happily says: that's all! Me: where's the ottoman? Him: oh yeah I forgot about that. Me: ... He calls the owner (Roger, who by this point in the move has NEVER not even once made the effort to call or communicate with me an apology for all the screw up) and Roger tells him that somebody must have stolen it. Him: he will just send you a new one. Me: ok (really by this point I don't think anything is going to get done right) So now it's about a week later and I haven't heard back from Roger. Multiple calls, emails, ignoring me probably at this point. I am a very patient person, I don't negotiate prices I take the quote that is given, I rarely complain. Honestly even a tiny apology would have gone such a long way but I have not received one throughout this horrible process nor will I be appeased by it now. Rule number one of customer service: apologize for your mistakes or don't hire dumb people to do the work so you don't make mistakes to begin with. I mean, how the heck do you leave stuff in the elevator...I mean that is like the stupidest thing I've heard of. So in conclusion: I HIGHLY recommend you go with another company, even people off Craigslist per hour would do better than these people. If you do not want to lose random items and also wait a week for your sofa, then do not hire "Roger". What a MISERABLE move, like I said, I have moved 5 times in the past 5 years with 5 different moving companies and this company was the worst experience of them all. ****UPDATE: owner "responds" to reviews but does not follow through. I coordinated my move with Roger who was very friendly, not pushy at all when it came to scheduling my move. Even after I received the quote he allowed me time to think before agreeing to schedule, didn't try and hustle me at all which I appreciated. My move was originally scheduled for 11 am, but I didn't receive a phone call until exactly at 11 am for them to update me that they would be running 2 hours late. Eventually, at 12:45 pm two movers showed up and moved very quickly moving my boxes and furniture onto the truck. Throughout the moving process, they took great care of my stuff and finished within 2 hours. I was very impressed with the whole process and how quick and efficient they were. True to their word there were no hidden fees and I paid the exact quoted price that was given to me. The only cons I can say about my move was not being given enough notice of the later appointment, and the two movers did not wear masks at the first address. Though one of them wore a mask the entire time at the second address when moving my items from the truck to my new apartment. The guys were super friendly and seemed like honest dudes, but they had no idea what they were doing. 1.They didn't have gloves or back braces or any protective gear. 2. They had little experience driving the truck they brought. It took several tries to get it backed up correctly. 3. They were not gentle with the furniture, they rarely used blankets and they did weird things like put it on the cart upside down. 4. There was no teamwork, they were lifting furniture dangerously because they couldn't coordinate a simple 1, 2, 3, lift. They also started out really well, they were super fast and got things out efficiently. But they slowed down ridiculously towards the end. It should've been done in 3 1/2 hours at most and it took almost five. And that was with me helping them and doing a lot of stuff on my own. Nine months ago I used Beach Movers to put my things in storage. I had a great experience. I even left a good review with how impressed I was. So, I used them again to move my things out of storage. The movers showed up in time and were really fast. However, a lot of my furniture was damaged. I'm not sure if it happened during the first move or the most recent one. It was a new bedroom set and they really did a number on it. I hate to complain because outside of this issue they really do a good job. This has been the most unprofessional and infuriating experience. They moved us from Virginia Beach to Hampton in January. They were rushing very quickly without concern for valuables. They did not use padding for one of our TVs and had no method to prevent accidents for our electronics. Needless to say before we even had a chance to plug in and check our valuables, they took their payment and left. We then plugged in our TV, and our screen was completely ruined! We contacted them right away, and no action was taken. We were told that their insurance was dealing with this issue and to check back time and time again. My husband Lincoln O. left a review and messaged everyone who he was directed to, and absolutely nothing was solved. They have been dodging our calls ever since, even now there is no response. We are going to be filing with the federal business bureau and small claims if nothing immediately. Very disappointing and unacceptable. Two guys in a big truck who maintained excellent communication with me. These guys gave their best effort moving my furniture out of a two story house and into another two story house. The didn't rush but they weren't slow either. I really appreciated the creativity and thoughtfulness exercised as they manipulated each piece avoiding contact with the house and preventing damage to the furniture. The home I moved into was new construction and the laundry room is on the 2nd floor. These guys are only human and after all the lifting these guys did my dryer slipped away from one of them at the last moment damaging my floor as well as the leveling leg of my dryer. I believe this was an avoidable mistake possibly through the use of OSHA approved equipment such as lifting straps or harnesses, reducing fatigue and strain. I don't even know where to start. I called a couple weeks ago to schedule an appointment to have my things moved from a town home to a house. I went on Yelp and saw that they were military friendly, masks at all time, and good reviews. I'm not sure who I talked to but the person I spoke to on the phone but they were professional. I told them I had a small living room couch, big tv, tv stand, no dining room, and two bedrooms. One bedroom was a full set and the second was half. The person said oh yeah that's easy, we just need two men and one truck and it will be 2 hours. I was like great! I bought my own boxes and boxed up my whole house myself, even though I'm 7 months pregnant I didn't want this to go longer than needed. All I really needed was my stuff to be moved. I am in the military and had a busy schedule and left just on time for my 9am appointment. I got a call 10 minutes before scheduled saying they would be running an hour late because someone called in sick. So it was a small set back when it came to my work but this needed to be done so I understood. I'm going to cut to the chase, they came in my house at 10 and seemed like good guys and ready to get to work. I told them just to start with the living room as I was packing up what needed to be packed. Long story short, we are 4 1/2 hours in when we are unloading at the house that's about 8 minutes far. I asked the guy respectfully how long he thought it would take because r are way over time I was quoted and I already had been gone from work all day. He gave me an attitude and told me to call Roger (the owner). I called the owner and he was very approachable. He was understanding and called me back and said the l two men said it was a long walk. I'm all about breaks because I know it can be tiring, but the two men were constantly taking smoke breaks in the truck every chance they got. I was so desperate I started taking things myself into my own car because I was exhausted and just wanted it to be over! The walk is about 15 steps from the door to truck. It's townhomes also not on the third or second floor of apartments. I feel so bad about leaving this review because the owner did try to make things right. The total moving time was 6 1/2 hours long. He offered to take two offers off so I ended up paying $563. I feel bad for him because it's his business and it's not his fault, but I can't get past the fact that they never wore masks from beginning to end, and when we told him the bedroom set was upstairs he got upset! Then he even asked"Do you want us to put it together?" With an attitude is an acceptable. That's part of the job description and I don't know what he was thinking I was going to do. I was so desperate I picked up the 85"in tv myself and started putting drawers together in living room and boxes were not even placed in right places. I just don't understand how it took this long and they didn't pack a single box! I bought 15 boxes from Lowe's and I used about 13 max. One worker was quiet and didn't say much but the other one was rude at times and very unprofessional either. I had recommended this company to a couple friends moving and I just urge you to look somewhere else. I'm so mad at how much I ended up paying and to top it off everything wasn't even taken to from my house, I just said forget it, just take the big stuff and I had to still use all day next day on my own to finish packing and moving. Booked move for 1pm/ 5/27/2021 they showed up 6hrs late at 7pm said there was an accident on freeway, 3men half loaded large u-haul truck went to storage unit 5miles away off loaded truck by 10:00 -10:30pm (3-3.5hrs). Next day movers showed up at 09:30am 3men half loaded large u-haul truck again took hr plus lunch break then headed to our storage unit with 2men now. Off loaded truck and packed storage unit by 3- 3:30pm. I was charged $2,100.00 for this move which I disputed at the time but paid because I felt physically trapped with the exit blocked by movers with an attitude at the time. My friend and I had to personally re-arange storage unit to fit boxes left outside unit. I called the owner Roger I believe after finishing up at the storage unit to complain about the over charge his movers made. All I got from him is that the times for hourly rates 3men (150/hr) and 2men (125/hr.) are determined by contacts between him and his drivers not verified with customers contacts. My friend did complain to owner a day before about movers not wrapping furniture, half loading truck and sluggish movement. I truly believe I was ripped off and over charged for this move which should have taken no more than 6-7 hrs to move 3bd rm condo with loft and sm storage closet. Im trying to work with the owner to resolve this issue but may have to sue in owner in court. Oh yeah forgot to mention that I dismantled the kitchen table and disconnected washer/ dryer and we packed all boxes prior to the move.
