We moved down from PA from a 4 BR house to a 2 BR condo. Obviously, we had to put a ton of our stuff in storage. Our initial movers did a great job getting everything down here, but couldn't stay to get the excess stuff moved into storage. We called several movers but either they couldn't do our smaller job immediately or simply didn't get back to us. Then we got hold of Christopher at Atlantic Beach Movers and he really saved the day. Chris got his team over to our new place the next day, and these guys really kicked butt. They had the first tuck loaded up and unloaded into storage within a couple hours. I had to get another storage unit for the next day, and again Chris and his hard-working team loaded everything up quickly and professionally and off-loaded it into storage unit 2 with no problem whatsoever. Every team member was courteous, very efficient and they all worked very well together. Christopher stuck to his quote and even moved some extra furniture we hadn't initially thought needed to go. Guys who did the move were nice enough & careful with my stuff BUT I found them on their phones multiple times & by the time they unloaded they were tired & tossing stuff wherever. Still can't find my underwear. Not worth the $1200 for sure. Notice the response doesn't address the people loafing on their phones or mention the fact that the organizer was only there for the first hour and she was trying to get work from / through them? Initially I had another moving company scheduled for my move. They cancelled an hour after they were supposed to show up. These guys were able to get my move done in the late evening the same day I called them frantic in the morning. They were super fast moving my stuff from my 3 story townhouse. No damages, everything was taken apart and put back together, wrapped and they were all so pleasant and professional. I would highly recommend them to anybody that needs movers! read more

No one came in a white suit except for the guy with the Aryan tatoos (a white tshirt) who happened to be the only one that knew how to use the packing materials I provided. I have moved from New York to Charlotte NC to Virginia Beach...This was the ABSOLUTE WORSE....I informed the OWNER that two of my pedals were missing that I made into a table by placing a thick glass on top..I was asked if I check the truck I said I was only aloud to look in not get in I couldn't see past the stack pads..The OWNER went on to say that if he took the WORD Of EVERY CUSTOMER he would be out of business...Calling me a liar.. a customer..then he went on to say he will look in the truck for evidence of the pedals being broken...Are you kidding me...I explained to him that I brought the pedals on sale at A C Moore for 19.99 a piece...He said maybe they will go on sale again...Unbelievable!!!!! The movers were very quick workers and did a good job. However, they round up their hourly fee. I went 6 minutes into the "next hour" so they rounded it up and charged me for a full hour anyway. I paid $100 for 6 minutes of labor. Not very happy about that, there should be SOME leeway. read more

I have moved several times in the last 15 years. This move was by far the best. With very little notice, a three man team, Ryan/Herb/ Mike, moved my belongings from an apartment to my new house. Everything in my apartment was not packed as I had planned. This was no problem for them. Chris brought more supplies and tape. When we arrived at my home, all things were placed where I requested. If I ever move again, I will use Atlantic Beach Movers preferentially with the same team! read more

I wouldn't use them again. The 3 person team they sent over was sorry. Only one person was carrying their weight (his name was JP and he was great). The other 2 people were either exhausted or straight up lazy. So basically it was a 1 person team. There was no hussle. Walking around aimlessly looking around at the furniture instead of wrapping the furniture or loading the truck. I saw them on their phones multiple times. There was definitely time that was wasted which we ended up paying for that wasted time. One of the main reasons I booked them is because I was told they were taking Covid precautions by wearing masks and gloves. They probably wore their masks and gloves a total of 5 minutes. Finally, there is a nice size hole in my freshly painted wall that they caused. My advice to you would be to find a different moving company because these folks are amateurs. read more

I used this company on 5/12/16. I had read reviews and thought they were going to be a great experience. I was disappointed. I had a very narrow window of time to move and hired three men at the owner's suggestion for three hours for one flat rate, with the thinking that three men could move items quicker than two men. I asked the owner several times prior to the move if they'd bring tools to disassemble and reassemble my bed. He said yes. One person stayed on the truck 90% of the time, leaving the other two men to do the work. I get that they needed to organize things in the truck but I've moved enough times to know that he did not need to stay in the truck the entire time. They did not have a drill to take apart my bed so I paid for them in time to manually take apart and put back together my bed with a screwdriver, that they had to have someone bring them. The base weight mysteriously "fell out" of a floor lamp and they left it (the weight) on the pavement in the parking lot of my apartment complex. They left a chair sitting in the carport at my new address. One guy, Sam, hustled and was very "customer service", asking me where I'd like things and assuring me they'd be done so that I could get to work that afternoon on time. The other two - not so much. One guy huffed and puffed a lot while toting the items. At one point, they were even complaining about their next job in front of me, making me wonder if they were talking about me, too, when they were out of earshot. They left two items on the kitchen ledge. I ended up transporting the items myself. I carefully labelled all of my items and the rooms where they were to put the items. I even told the movers to make sure they left room for the living room furniture and not block the cable jacks as Cox was coming the next day. They kept placing the cartons wherever they could, including the space for the living room furniture and in front of the jacks. I had to ask them to move the items. In the end, they just stacked most of the items in one general area. Now, I admit that the new apartment was a bit smaller than the previous apartment but if they had been strategic with the move, it all would have fit exactly where I wanted it to go. I know this because I spent last Saturday moving everything to where it needs to go. They went over the allotted three hours by one hour and 20 minutes and I ended up paying for two full extra hours eventhough they only went 20 minutes into the second hour. If they had had a drill and if all three men had moved boxes, this could have been done within the three hours. I had read great reviews about the company and thought the move was going to be stress-free, but they lacked the customer service and professionalism I was looking for in a moving company. If I asked them to help me with something (like taking the protective plastic off of a sofa), they acted like it was a chore. I felt uncomfortable and like I was putting them out to ask them to do their job. I'm sure that they probably talked about me. I hired professionals to do a job and was left feeling disappointed in the turnout. I sent an email with my intended review to the owner and he did not even reply to say he was sorry, offer a partial refund for the time the movers spent on my bed or even the broken lamp. I'd say this is a case of you get what you pay for, but the price wasn't that cheap. read more

This company was hired to move a household and the contents of 2 storage units. They arrived on time and went to work. Unfortunately not everything arrived at the new home. Many items were missing, Including but not limited to container of new clothes, an electric knife sharpener, Xbox 360 games, and a book of checks which were used to defraud merchants in this area. read more

They did a great and quick job moving us from Suffolk to Virginia beach. We have solid wood bedroom furniture and they had no issues with a two man crew getting it down our apartment stairs and up to the second floor in the new house. I can't imagine why people would complain and say they are slow, they are people and this is definitely not an easy job! They were professional and really reasonably priced. We were moving into base housing and the owner was accommodating to get the right staff there to be able to get on base. Worst moving company I've ever had to deal with. They broke my table and were totally irresponsible when packing. The movers had terrible attitudes and didn't want to accommodate me for anything. Another mover was drinking liquor the whole time and smelled like a homeless man. Would not recommend to anyone who needs insurance on their property for a move. The owner of A Atlantic Beach Movers, Inc. charged me $100.00 for insurance to cover any moving damages up to $20,000. They damaged my property, acknowledged they damaged it and then ignored me when I wanted repairs done. Besides the major damage I wanted repaired, there was also minor damage done to many pieces of furniture but it was difficult to prove it was done during the move. After 2 1/2 to 3 months of phone calls, leaving messages, certified mail with no response, BBB was contacted. After another 3 months, I received a minor payment towards my property. I found the owner to be a scammer and liar. If you value your property, find another mover. read more

The owner Bill is not a nice guy. Once the move starts he is not there, will not answer the phone, will not resolve issues, and does not fulfill the agreements. He just ignores you, does not care that you are not happy. As you have nothing to do at this point, the move continues. The staff is moderate, a new guy had zero training and caused damages Update after Bills comment I am a customer, not a former employee We sure did contact Bill and requested to take responsibilities to the crushed boxes, lack of proper wrapping materials , but he just ignored the email or refused to take any responsibility. On November 30 2012 my wife experienced the worst household move ever with Atlantic Beach Movers Inc., because I was out to sea at the time of the move, and did not get to witness this terrible situation. A month prior to our move my wife and I visited their company office to schedule a move date, moving cost, and logistics of the upcoming move. Also, we filled out the necessary paperwork, and discussed with their representative the number of boxes and type of household goods we needed for them to move etc. So my wife and I left the office like everything is fine concerning the move. November 30th arrived, the move date, immediately things went bad from the start, because the movers were thirty (30) minutes late, and started complaining about the boxes being to heavy, and started taken smoke and bathroom breaks. So my wife stated to them, that "She was not going to pay for them to sit around and complain, and breaks all day". The workers finally completed loading the truck, but all of our items did not fit into a 26 foot truck, because of the lack of packing experience of the workers is so ridiculous. To be honest a small three bedroom worth of furniture should easily fit into this size truck, if you know how to professionally pack this size truck. So my wife and a family friend had to use our own private vehicles to go back and retrieve four car loads of items that were left behind by Atlantic Beach movers. Now that the truck arrives at our new apartment someone else was moving into the same building at the same time, so the elevator had to be shared, because we couldn't reserve the elevator for us only. Once the household goods were finally moved into our new apartment, and the job was complete Atlantic Beach Movers Inc. tried to charge us up to $300.00 to $500.00 dollars more than the original price that was agreed upon between both parties. They exaggerated the number of boxes from 40 to 150 boxes, and also wanted to charge us for the sharing of the elevator with the other tenants. I am a retired Navy veteran, and now employed with Military Sealift Command Fleet Support as a naval civilian mariner, so I have over twelve moving experiences throughout my naval career, and this has to be the worst. It would have been better to rent a truck and hire loaders to move my household goods like I did in the past, which went a lot faster and smoother. Horrible. I was convinced a 3 man crew was the way to go. Movers were extremely quick and attentive at the first location. Upon making it to the second location one member of the crew broke the glass to my dining room table. It took a long time for them to tell me and an even longer time for him to clean. So of course it slowed the whole process down as the crew was now down to two. You would think they'd be apologetic, conciliatory even. They tried to charge me for an extra hour for going over the 4hrs even though they would have been done well within their time frame if the third person wasn't cleaning the mess he made and offered absolutely nothing for shattering the glass. We used this company based on a recommendation from neighbors. Two guys showed up on time ready to work. They moved us from a second story apartment to a townhouse close by. The lead guy worked very hard, but his assistant spent much of his time on the truck, on his cell phone. Plus, his girlfriend even stopped by to visit. My husband was so disgusted, he wanted to start unloading boxes from the truck himself. In the meantime, the lead guy was carrying boxes and furniture into the townhouse. He assembled our two four-poster beds and centered them perfectly against the walls. The move cost us more than I estimated as we paid for someone to stand around on the phone. A few days later, my husband called the owner and spoke to him about the situation. The owner did not offer us any compensation. We also noticed that our wood furniture (mostly custom or antique) had more dings and scrapes than any prior move, including one across the country.
