Let me start by saying I am a cranky pregnant (6.5 months) lady who can be annoyingly obsessive, especially when it comes to keeping my toddler and myself safe/clean. So I was a little freaked out after we booked four nights at the Beachside Resort and then I stumbled upon bad reviews online. However, I wound up being extremely pleased with our stay here and am really not sure where the complaints are coming from. Listen, it's not a luxury hotel, but it's definitely of higher-than-acceptable quality for the price and ESPECIALLY for the incredible location -- literally one block from the boardwalk, and one block over from Mariner's Pier on the boardwalk. You can see the Mariner's Pier ferris wheel lit up at night from the motel's second floor. Really cannot beat the location, and I can't stress that enough. We checked in on Wednesday night (checked out Sunday morning) and were placed in room 201, which management assured us we would like because of the extra space of the sun deck right outside our room; however, after checking out the situation up there, I requested to move for fear of other guests using the community deck at night and keeping my son and me awake. They were happy to oblige and moved us to room 205. Both room 201 and 205 were as pictured in the nice photos online, with clean, non-carpeted floors...both rooms looked recently renovated. Air conditioning was efficient and kept us plenty cool despite the hot weather outside (and you have full control over the AC in the room.) I checked the AC filter because the "check filter" light was lit on the unit, but it was fine...cleaner than ours at home most of the time, if I'm being honest. Room was not humid or otherwise uncomfortable in any way. I was concerned about nighttime noise, so I brought a white noise machine from home for my son, and between that and the pleasant hum of the AC unit, we both slept great all four nights of our stay, as did my husband. We could hear our neighbors in the next room if they were being particularly loud, but only if we were in the bathroom, and the sound was not audible from the sleeping area at all with the bathroom door shut. Completely reasonable. My husband stayed up later than us and watched a movie on his tablet on the community sun deck and was concerned on Saturday night when some guests were being loud outside of our door -- but we didn't hear a thing inside at all. My son didn't wake up from the Friday night boardwalk fireworks either, even though when I snuck out to watch them from the deck with the baby monitor on they were really loud outside. The pool was perfectly nice and a great additional option for fun when we wanted to get off the beach and boardwalk for a bit. I would not have gotten in or let my son in if I thought it was dirty or unsafe, but it was just fine. The "outdoor shower" is just a hose by the pool...but come on, it does the job of rinsing the sand/chlorine off until you shower! There are limited single parking spots and then more double-park spots for guests, and you are asked to leave a car key at the desk if you are parking in a spot blocking in another guest's vehicle. We did so and brought a spare key to be able to get in/out of our car and use it as needed. Our car was moved to another spot once to let someone else out, and it was no big deal whatsoever. We grabbed the single spots when we could, but it was fine either way. I will note that I did bring my own bathing towels, beach towels, wash cloths, bed sheets, pillow cases, pillows, and toilet paper, but, as mentioned above...I'm a bit crazy about this kind of thing and didn't want housekeeping service during our stay with our stuff all over the room, etc. (I do this almost everywhere we stay.) I hardly like using sheets/towels at friends' homes, let alone where strangers stay. I Lysol wiped down the door handles, remote controls, etc. upon arriving -- again, I do this whenever we stay at a hotel, nothing specific to this place or its perceivable cleanliness. I would have insisted we move to a different hotel/motel if I thought the room needed any additional cleaning (if the mattress, furniture, shower, toilet, sink, etc. looked questionable at all) but with these little comforts in place I was completely happy with our living conditions for our stay...despite being a crazy person in general. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because, like I said, it's not quite "as good as it gets" since it's not some luxurious resort...but maybe that's being picky. It's certainly deserving of 5 stars if the standard is a perfectly decent place to stay that's a stone's throw from fantastic recreation options. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a convenient location nearby the boardwalk. read more

I'm so disappointed to be writing this review... as I used to stay here when it was Castaways, and have such wonderful memories of the hotel.. but hopefully it helps the next person looking for a place in WildWood. I will say the location is excellent, and the rooms are clean. We booked the wrong dates, but they were happy to accommodate us for two nights last week and the receptionist was very helpful and polite. The pool is great and the beds were comfortable. ***However, there are sadly more negatives than positives at Beachside resort. Upon arrival, we were told there was a $200 security deposit that was Not disclosed when booking. But, we paid, no hassle, as we are grown adults and know how to treat a rented room with respect. That deposit was not returned, with the explanation being "we smoked in the room". We don't even smoke inside our own home, and even after calling to discuss the matter, were told first that housekeeping said the room smelled of cigarettes, then the story changed and we were told the manager had said that. Sus! We absolutely did not smoke indoors, but, there was a torn screen and broken tub faucet.. that I can only assume they'll use our deposit to fix. Did I mention the housekeeper's blasting inappropriate music, including songs littered with curses and vulgar lyrics... with no regard for guests and their young children? Don't get me wrong, I'm a rap fan, but you Don't play explicit music while you're cleaning rooms at work. Period. Utter lack of respect for paying guests. Then, there was the WiFi issue. After our night out, we thought we'd watch a movie... thought being the key word. Internet service cut out at least five times so we actually had to use our own devices hotspot.... A 2 hour movie? Took us the majority of the night to finish. There was no one to call as the office was closed so we had to use our own data. This? Is a first for me at any hotel. It was pretty frustrating so I decided to take a ride to Wawa for a snack... nope. One of the staff had parked behind our car so I was unable to get out despite signs posted stating keys were to be left if you were blocking anyone's vehicle. I guess that doesn't apply to the staff and just another display of disrespect and lack of courtesy for the customer. By the way, if you are staying in the main building on the second floor, be careful of the hole in the balcony floor by the top of the steps while making your way to your room. it is definitely cause for concern and dangerous especially if you have children. The whole experience did not damper our vacation mood, but it was, as I said, extremely disappointing to see what's become of my once beloved WW spot. I wish I had read the reviews prior to staying at Beachside :( Do yourself a favor and Steer clear, spend your money somewhere... anywhere else. By the way, the so-called manager who discovered that our room smelled of smoke? was nowhere on the premises during our stay and I know this because the receptionist was very busy and I asked if she had help... Upon booking I was charged the entire amount. I'm use to being charged a deposit and the rest when I arrive. I got there and was told I had to pay a $200.00 fee for incidents. Then I was told to hand over my car keys due to parking being two rows deep. The clerk also said someone would move my vehicle as needed. No way why don't they tell u this before you book with them. I gave up my keys due to the relentlessness of the clerk. I felt bullied to do so. The woman never told me how to get my keys in an emergency. The office is locked up tight by 9pm. Forget the night life your vehicles not moving. I felt like a child being told it's bedtime your in for the night. No one moved their cars after 9pm. In the morning I wanted to take my grandchildren to an early morning breakfast on the boardwalk but my keys were locked in the office and I couldn't get my walker outta my trunk. I'm elderly and disabled my routine when I vacation is to leave my walker in the trunk due to the rooms being so small. We didn't even get a parking spot in front of our room because they turned those spots into 1st come 1st served. My disabled daughter and I had to drag out luggage and bags across the entire parking lot then to our room # 102 it's a far walk from the parking lot. I will never stay there again. The clerks name is Briya she's the one who bullied a disabled senior citizen. Do yourself a favor and learn from my misfortunate experience. Very disappointed....! Hole in shower wall in 318. Floors weren't mopped this year just overall unhealthy. Spend the extra 50 bucks and stay at the other resorts. You'll regret staying there. The two gentlemen downstairs were pleasant but of no help unless they offered to knock down the building or condemn it. It shouldn't be on booking.com at all as pleasant. Unless you mean pleasantly horrible Yeast it's close to the action. But its smells and looks like your sleeping in the middle of it. Please go elsewhere. Even if you're a teenager. Stayed for the weekend. The staff was very nice and attentive. The cleaning lady checked on us 2x to see if we needed anything she cleaned my room once we went out to breakfast. It was nice and quiet I parked right in front of my room nice touch. The broad-walk was a short walk. The a/c worked great the water pressure was strong. The room was nice and clean upon check-in. The room was total chaos. There was a missing fire detector, the ac unit was filled with hair , dust and leaked on your head because it's right over the head board. The shower did not get hot. The bathroom was missing a towel rack and toilet paper holder. The light switch was cut and in the door frame. We arrived at 4pm and checked out the next day at 7:45am because I just couldn't take it anymore. The amount of cigarette smoke coming through our door was just ridiculous. BEWARE! BEWARE! They are criminals. This resort charged a group of 100 seniors, who booked 40 rooms, $1000 each room, for a two night stay, cash only! Then kicked them out first thing in the morning without a refund. Manager said they were too loud, however the kids spent most of the evening on the boardwalk and only came back to hotel to sleep. When the hotel was challenged with this decision the manager called the police to expedite their departure at 8am. These young adults were forced to vacate ASAP so the rooms could be turned over because they were already booked by another group! Furthermore, these Seniors were under the impression, by the hotel that they were the only group staying at the resort so there shouldn't have been any noise complaints by other guests. Very dirty and not well taken care of. Came here for H2Oi with me and 3 other people (all under the age of 21) their website stated that you had to be 18 to get a room. When we arrived we were told in a very rude way that we had to be 21. The man at the counter was very rude with the interaction acting like we've been here before, even though we stated we've never been here and had no idea. He still let us stay which was nice. Our room was 2 double beds, with a mini fridge and microwave. The fridge had disgusting rust running down the front and the microwave barely worked. The room itself was very small and really dirty. The floor had sand from the last person which means no one swept. The beds were filled with stains and sand as well. A very big black ink stain was on the mattress itself. There was black hair in the bed as well (none of us already laid in the bed when i found it, and none of us have black hair). The bathroom was kinda clean. There was black hair in the shower and the bottom of the tub was filthy. The toilet was dirty. I was truly at my breaking point when i found pubes on the seat. I can definitely tell they did not change the bedding or clean the bathroom. If you want people to leave you reviews, maybe do a better job at making it a nicer experience for us, instead of giving us attitude when we first arrive and a dirty room that was left un cleaned. read more

Recently I had the horrible displeasure of staying at this hotel. On the outside it seemed clean and convenient, like any other quant wildwood motor hotel. The staff was pleasant, pool was nice. My opinion of this place remained high, it doesn't take much to please me. This all changed when I looked under the pillow. I found four clearly used condoms rammed between the back of the mattress and the headboard. Not just were they full of seamen, but they clearly smelled of shit. This has to be one of my favorite resorts at wildwood. Me and my hubby wanted to get away from the kids at home (covid made us all close, but we needed a little getaway) and this was the perfect place to stay. It wasn't super busy yet, which was nice. They just did some reconstruction, so the rooms looked so nice! Beautiful paint jobs, and great lighting. The AC worked beautifully, which is hard to find in Wildwood suites. Kitchen included. AND it was so close to the beach! I wouldn't listen to the outdated reviews if I were you, they are slowly turning this into the new spot! At least, it's our favorite! read more

I was staying during off season on weekdays. So all that management do not give a shit about guest there. I asked for late check out and I'm okay to pay extra but they started to tell me about they need to pay to the Maid per hour to wait for me for late check out and asked me for extra money so its okay. - Management, Why i need to know that how you do pay to your maid (you are so greedy guys). Also upon check in reception guy started to tell me that at 12 noon Security will come and take me out from the room if i will not check out. - this is bulshit to tell customer like this upon check in. I paid for the room one night and microwave wasn't working, and i wanted to do a bath - and bath stopper wasn't working too. so i cant use bathtub. on next day at 11-55 security was knocking my door and tell me check out now. i said time is 11-55 and i know check out at 12-00 so i will check out at 12. and he left. 2 minutes later the reception guy called me on my cellphone to tell me check out at 12. WTF. i told them i will check out at 12. so i came in to reception with key at 11-59 and i told them room is free. go clean it up. i check out before 12 even. In the end i told them about problems in the room and they not give a damn shit - they just told me do not comeback in the hotel anymore. this is what i gonna do and not recommend to anyone stay in this shitty hole hotel with shitty management. read more

STEER CLEAR- I will never stay here ever again. The rooms were decent looking because they were recently renovated. The outside is very outdated and dirty. The pool area was never cleaned up and their grills were so disgusting. Our floors were never cleaned for the 3 nights we were there. They came in 1 day to refresh towels and toilet paper. The bathroom was nice- the water pressure in the shower wasn't the best, but it did get hot so I can't complain too much. The microwave would only work if you unplugged it and plugged it back in every time you wanted to use it. The beds were pretty comfy, but the sheets were so stained and dirty looking (thank god i bring my own sheets anyway to sleep on) I chose this place because at the time I booked the reviews were decent and there weren't many options left for me, and because of the location, which didn't completely disappoint because we had a great view from the top deck to watch the cars drive by. All in all, I won't ever be staying here again. It was just too gross for me and extremely expensive. $700 for 3 nights for a pretty crappy experience. Yikes. I picked this place from Trip Advisor since it had a pretty good rating, wasn't too expensive and was in a great location. I should've looked harder. It's in a perfect location, I'll give you that, but that's all I can give. Our room was modest, which I expected, but the people cleaning it were not very thorough. Since it's all tile, you can clearly see under the bed and how it hasn't been swept in weeks. The closet had dirty hanging towels from a previous guest. One of the drawers contained empty plastic bags. The shower curtain was stained with what looked like someone's strawberry body wash. Checkout is at 10am and check-in is at 3pm, so I have no idea why it was this dirty with five hours between guests. Daily housekeeping isn't much better. When we got back to our room in the afternoon, our beds were made and fresh towels awaited us, but usually, any towels left on the floor are taken away. Ours were just left on the floor. The clean towels didn't even seem that clean, as they smelled mildewy as soon as they were wet. The garage space where the laundry is was right next to our room, so we woke to the sounds of someone playing loud music at 7am on a Saturday, only to find it was the staff. On that note, the staff was a little interesting. We were hanging out on the deck, which is quite the eyesore, when we saw the front desk attendant who checked us in shimmying up the telephone pole, with no shoes and a cigarette dangling from his mouth. Once he saw us on the second story deck, he quickly climbed back down. When it came time for the posted 10am check out, our desk friend was nowhere to be found and when my boyfriend called him on the provided number, he got the feeling he had just woken him up. The pictures I saw showed a pool, but we were at a loss as to where that was. And even if we had found it, I wouldn't dare a dip. This place has potential however too many things seem unimportant to them.For example not cleaning pool area every day .Litter from previous day and maybe before that still remain around pool and some in pool.They say they check chemical balance of pool water once a week.Thats not often enough.Rooms have been remodeled however some of it looks rushed and unsightly. Horrible. The dark staircases with what looks like vomit on it should have been a warning sign, but the filthy mirrors and mold on the showerhead really did it. You can't step on the floors without your feet getting dirty and the pool had tinfoil in it along with woman's bottoms by the fence that never got cleaned up. Whitenessed maids throwing pillows and pillowcases off the balcony, and I'd tell you if the workers were friendly but I never saw them. All in all, we couldn't leave soon enough. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE! This hotel was a scam from the time we arrived. You have to piggy back park to begin with and if your the car behind another car, you have to leave your keys with the person at the desk (which is not convenient for either cars or trustworthy). When we went to check in, they had no recollection of us reserving a room. He had to look on the computer for it and then says that our papers were "never printed out". But then also goes to say Booking.com crashed when we reserved it so we had to re-reserve it through him. (which doesn't make sense at all if he had the papers waiting to be printed out). Once we got into our room we noticed that it was dirty. The sheets had stains on them, there wasn't even a fitted sheet just a sheet draped over the mattress. The floors were FILTHY! You had to have shoes on to walk around or your socks would be BLACK. The shower floor was dirty, I had to wipe it with clorox wipes! The comforter was folded into the dresser. There were two beds with only one blanket. They never came in and cleaned. Housecleaning was not a thing. We were only given 3 towels for the stay. Wash clothes were in a plastic wrap inside the dresser, OPENED. Only one roll of toilet paper. Water presser in the shower sucked. The first night there, the owner I guess stopped us outside and asked if we had cancelled the reservation through booking.com, as we tried to do so he eventually said "just give me a 10 star review and i'll handle it". The next day, we left to get breakfast and when we came back our room key DID NOT WORK. Not to mention, while we were out at breakfast he called us to ask if we knew anyone with the last name "Smith" to make sure no other person was in our room (sketchy). When we called him up the room to tell him about the key, he proceeded to act like he did not know who we were and when we got here. He then says he's going to take our key downstairs and fix the issue. HE NEVER CAME BACK. 5 hours went by and he never returned. We had to go downstairs ourselves and see what was going on, only to see it was a different person at the desk. The pool was dirty. The water was extremely cloudy and murky looking. When it came time to check out, we approached the original guy and told him we were ready, he again acts as if he didn't know when we got here and so on. We brought up our $100 we were to get back when we checked out and he did not move to go inside and get that and check us out until we gave him the 10 star review. He sat over our shoulders and watched the phone to make sure we gave the 10 star review. Once he seen it, he then proceeded to check us out and give the money back. WE WERE FORCED TO GIVE A FALSE REVIEW ON THIS PLACE!!! TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. Overall, HORRIBLE experience, shady staff, unsanitary. Do not stay here!! read more

We originally booked at a different motel but it was under construction, so they recommended here and used our cancellation fee as partial payment for this room which was nice but ended up being a mistake. When we finally got to the room, there was the fire alarm and a random tissue sitting on the dresser which was gross since it was supposed to be a clean room (The floor was also caked in dirt and crumbs). There was also stained sheets on the bed and no blankets to be found. When we asked for new sheets, we waited in our room for a half hour and no one ever brought anything up. Since we were only staying for one day, we didn't wanna waste time so we headed to the pool (which I will get to in a moment.) After an hour or so at the pool, we came back to find no new sheets. We went to the office once again to ask about them and the man got kind of snippy, saying that he had tried to knock 6 times but no one answered. He said he sat them outside the room, and we went to check with him. There were no sheets anywhere, so he had to grab new ones. The new sheets had a hole in them though. The only blanket in the drawer had brown stains on them which was unfortunate, so we also ended up asking for new comforters. Getting back to the pool, it was super dirty and murky. There was a disgusting amount of hair everywhere throughout it and it looked like it doesn't get cleaned very often. Overall, we were very disappointed in the service and room. read more

When I made this reservation I was looking for a great location and was told when I called the hotel that it was completely renovated. Wonderful! Kenny greeted me with a welcoming smile when I paid cash, and that was the last time I saw this man smile. The room was clean, but small. Ok. The sheets did not fit the bed so they were simply draped over the mattress. Amenities were scarce. If you call bathroom tissue an amenity. When my daughter went to the office to ask for more, "Kenny" told her she was not allowed! When I went and asked he told me we missed our opportunity to get more toilet paper. I stood and waited till he went and brought out one roll. That was all we got for our 4 night stay. I ended up going out and purchasing what we needed for our room. The pool smelled like bleach, not chlorine. Two nights the outlet where I charged my phone started to overheat and burned out my charger and there was a burning smell. Over 200$ a night for this sub par hotel. The only nice thing I can say is that the room attendants were very nice and the room was clean. Won't be back. read more

Let me start by saying I really want to like this place. My boyfriend's family has stayed here for years when it was Castaways and continue to come to Wildwood twice a year for the Classic Car Shows. We would love to continue the tradition of staying at this property, but unfortunately the list of negative things about our latest stay far outweigh the positives. The Good: Location - 1 block from the boardwalk/beach Patio - Community Patio that overlooks Atlantic Ave, perfect for relaxing Updated room décor is beautiful Room was very clean upon check-in The Bad: No hot water - on our 1st day there we alerted the front desk that we didn't have hot water. They came into our room and let the water run for 8 minutes before it reached a lukewarm temperature. The same continued the duration of our stay. Microwave didn't work Our room was never made up during our stay, had to request clean towels and additional toilet paper The windows did not have screens on them and windows face an alley, we were uncomfortable opening the windows All on-premise vending machines and ice machines were out of order Upon arrival at 1:00 pm (check in at 3pm), we asked if it was possible to check into our room early. We were told our room was ready, but that it would be an additional $40/hour to enter the room early. Bed frame was very squeaky. The owner (?) stood over us as we packed our car to leave. He was 3 feet away from our car watching intently (as if we were going to steal the linens?!) Steer clear...there are better options in WIldwood. read more

One of the worst hotels i've ever stayed at. it's dirty. the employees are rude, the service is horrible and the trash outside the rooms are overflowing daily. There's mice crawling by the trash late at night and there's tons of flies everywhere due to lack of cleaning and upkeep. Oh man, where do I begin? If you haven't booked yet - RUN, if you have booked you're f**ked because NO REFUNDS. If I could give 0 stars, I would, and if you don't believe me, just read some of the other reviews about this place. The Good (tolerable at best) -Location - close to the boardwalk, beach, water parks, restaurants -Great Walkability - which is good because parking is a nightmare and expensive (side pro tip: try to find street parking, it's cheaper than parking in a lot) -Rooms are "renovated" if that means anything to you (it would to me if the room was actually clean, but it wasn't) On to the best part: The Bad, & the Ugly (the reasons why people write reviews) - Dirty AF - cannot stress that enough. All of the furniture was dusty, and you know, just overall the place gives you an "ick" feeling. - Knobs were missing on the drawers for the dresser, and there was no blind/curtain on the bathroom window (who needs privacy?) -Speaking of the bathroom, do you enjoy hot showers? Of course you do. Do you enjoy waiting more than 10 minutes for the water to get hot? Of course you don't. - Piggy back parking is super inconvenient for both parties because you're either the one parked in or you're the one parking someone else in and have to hand your keys into the office (however it is free to park 1 vehicle, if you have more than one vehicle see above for parking pro tip) - Shoutout to the creep that hangs out at the bottom of the stairs with his homies, and casually tries to creepily engage the guests coming back to their rooms for the night. (I assume he works here? And if so, that's completely unprofessional) How am I doing, you ask? I'm 1000% sure you don't really want to know how I'm doing so don't bother asking. Not very clean. The property was old and in need of repair. The room bad a new bathroom make over which was nice but that was about it. There were holes in the wall behind the cabinets. We were there 3 days and no room service at all no clean towels or sheets. The pool was ok but to grab on to the hand rail to get out since the rail is broken and pulls right out. read more

This was the nastiest hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff is rude. My room was filthy there was an empty beer bottle on the window the tub was full of sand there was used tooth paste and used soap left there , the trash was full and this was all following the owner "checking to make sure my room was ready". We didn't even get inside the hotel and had issues. We had two cars and we couldn't get two parking passes. They also said we had to leave our car keys in the office if we parked behind someone because they need to move our cars for the other person to get out. Didn't know they had stacked parking like that until check in. read more

I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND! This place is a legit scam and extremely filthy. I am not one to complain but this hotel... I can go on and on. I reserved on Expedia a 2 night stay with these people, it said nice and clear I did not need a card on file and within seconds I received my itinerary in my email. Shortly after, I'd say about 15 mins later I receive a call from the hotel itself. The man I spoke to over the phone said because it was Memorial Day weekend he would need a card on file. I told him that was weird because online it didn't say that so he proceeded with a few excuses that didn't add up. When we spoke to the man over the phone he promised us all of these things that he knew he couldn't live up too. We were charged extra fees for being late to check in (which he told us over the phone that as long as I call him and tell him we're running late he'll wave it). THAT WAS A LIE! He told us our rooms would have 2 king sized beds. THAT WAS A LIE! He told me over the phone that to ask for him (vik) when I arrived so he could look out. THAT WAS A LIE! I went into the office and asked what we're all of these extra fees and if I could speak to vik and the man proceeded trying to stall me around. I shortly learned that I was talking to vik the whole time. He told me he never promised these things over the phone and the money was not refundable. TOTAL COWARD! Our room smelled like pee, the sheets had so many nasty stains and didn't smell washed. The ac filter light was on, I checked it and boy was it one of the most disgusting things ever. Our floor was extremely dirty. My family had to walk around with sandals on at all times. The microwave smelled like rotten food. The pool area was so unsanitary. I really tried to find the good in this place but Unfortunately there was not one good thing about it. The location was good but that is about it. I really hope they stop taking these issues so lightly and get a grip on their business. It's horrible! read more

I have traveled to 9 third world countries and paid 15 dollars for a room in hotels in remote areas. They actually had better then this place. Ashamed there is not a zero ranking. read more
