I've been on a sober kick lately, so I came by for the vibes, food, and to hang out with friends. The live music was really good. Place was packed on a Friday night. I ordered the strawberry BBQ wings, perfectly smoked and tasty but I'd probably choose a different sauce next time. I appreciated the uniqueness, it just wasn't quite for me. My boyfriend and I wanted to try a new dog-friendly brewery, and initially, we were set on Ambitious Ales in Bixby Knolls. Unfortunately, when we arrived they were closed for a private event, so we searched for nearby substitutes and landed on Beachwood Brewing. We made sure to call ahead and confirm that their outside patio was dog-friendly, which they confirmed it was. When we arrived I headed inside to order. I was going to have my boyfriend wait outside with my furbaby while I grabbed our drinks but to my surprise, another customer had their dog with them inside. Although we ended up sitting outside on the patio, I loved the fact that the indoor seating was also pet-friendly! The service itself was generally good. Our bartender didn't seem the most enthusiastic, but I won't hold that against her as she still tended to us in a speedy and polite manner. After ordering our first round (LBC IPAs), we headed to the patio which is near the backside parking lot. Near the back of the brewery they have a cool array of pinball machines. On the patio, they had the cutest little fire pit tables that created such a cozy and romantic atmosphere. They also conveniently had QR codes on the tables to order drinks and food. We didn't order anything to grub on but I'd probably get some wings next time. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our LBC IPAs. For our second round, I decided to switch things up and ordered a Tiki drink called the Painkiller; a rum-based coconut mixed drink. The Painkiller was a bit strong yet had a lovely coconut flavor, along with little pieces of coconut inside the drink. Really great brewery near the downtown area of Bixby Knolls. A great spot to grab a drink and some bites with your friends and family. They have a nice arcade/games area and some TVs for sports. And they have a great backyard patio as well. The service has always been friendly and helps us pick out what we like in beers. One thing I would like to see more are descriptions of the beers, like flavor notes and hops used. Last time I went, they had 7 beers that just said "West Coast IPA" which is one or helpful. This was my first time here, but I had heard good things about it from lots of folk, and it did not disappoint. :) Food/Drink: I was pleased with the appetizers, we had garlic fries, the mixed greens, and the burger between us, and all were quite tasty. They have their on-site brews along with some other local staples, and they have a variety of mixed drinks along with a tiki bar vibe, double that with a holiday drink themed tiki drink page and you have yourself a bit of something for everyone. I had a few seltzers, and a few Lapu Lapu and I was doing just fine. ;) The service was friendly and knowledgable, and they were working hard to get the drinks out. Once the place was hopping it did take ~20 minutes for some of the tiki drinks, but it was worth the wait for sure - quality takes time - I know my drinks weee good, and I didn't hear anyone else complaining; I'll trade time for tastiness any day. ;) In all I'd certainly return, and I hope to see you there! read more

Welcome addition to North Long Beach, this spot offers a delicious menu to compliment the draft or cocktails they offer in-house. There is parking in the back or a few spots in front, but a bus stop is just a minute walk north. I highly recommend the buffalo wings, they could use a but more buffalo zing but whatever they add to their sauce is killer; similar to a sweet and spicy. Garlic fries are a must with an IPA. An arcade and board games are available for you to enjoy. I cannot say they offer sports here, as the speakers won't emit TV audio. You can definitely have both and it's pretty crucial to a sports viewing experience. It was a shame to watch the Finals with no audio. read more

Based on this visit, it was quite nice. Other reviews were either a hit or miss but my experience was quite nice. We stopped by for a nightcap as it was still open and there was still a good amount of people inside. The food trucks were still active but by the time we left, it was cleaned and closed. There's a good selection of pinball machines at the back or the place. Seating wise, there seemed to be a lot of seats but can get busy and all taken obviously. We ordered drinks and snack from the bar. A pretty selection that they carry both for beer and food. There's also apparels for purchase as well. Stuck with the light beer which was quite nice. Snack wise, the Parmesan fries and loaded fries. Portion wise was quite big and they were tasty. Service was great and staff were quite friendly. Gave us some recommendations on what we would like. Since the distillery opened up here it has been a favorite spot of ours. I'm not a beer person but my husband is so it's great that he can grab a beer and I can get a cocktail which are always amazing. Enrique & Tyler are always great when we go. Now let's talk about the food. This isn't no ordinary brewery food. Oh no no no. The strawberry bbq wings, the Caesar and any of their greens or brussels are so addicting and delicious you can't go wrong with any of those. I have the craft beer passport book, and I came here trying to have a good time. I'll be straight up with you, I didn't like how the guy was bothered because I had it. He was all jolly before mentioning I have the passport (to tour breweries) then, his attitude changed, so rude and dismissive. I am not a jerk or picky person, look at my previous reviews, I try to be tolerant having a service based business myself, but this guy ruined our experience. It's 5pm on Saturday March 14th, and he's the older gentleman, not the young guy with the mustache. Some coaching is needed here. If I was the owner, I wouldn't be okay with the service provided from this gentleman. Smile and come to work with a great attitude, regardless. Drove by from another brewery and got curious about this place so stopped by and give it a try. Parking in front of (street) or parking lot in back of the building along side the food truck. Entrance can be infront or in the back. I entered from the back, once you got in, very spacey with over look the brewing/distilling area and with the arcades of the 80s/90s games against the back wall. The ambiance vibe of chill and relax and carefree with the mixes of oldies & funky. You have cocktails and beers, which is hard to choose since just got beer and taking a break from cocktails. But they have interesting drinks hard to ignore and with the help of their friendly, helpful staff, I got pickle tini, which surprisingly quite good (sweet and pickles) and with a garlic & pickle for garnet. Their drink menu is divided into 5 sections (tiki & tropical, spirit forward - pickle tini in it, house shots, staples & signatures, low abv) with non-alcoholic and wine & beer. Their fresh bites is quite a selections. I might pick the wrong item to pair with the cocktail but it freshly makes and tasty. Great service, great food... Amazing Beer!!! Plenty of parking both in the back of the brewery + on the street. I ordered the Golden West burger and it was so favorful! The sauce and the jalapeños complimented each other well. My only nitpick would be for the bacon to be crispier! But the service was speedy, so that was a trade off I'd guess I had 3 diff brews: Hef Leppard, Permachill, and the Blonde. The Her was my fave, malty and just a hint of sweet. The Blonde is easy drinking for sure. Permachill was a bit odd tasting for me, and I usually like IPAs, this one had flavor I didn't care for too much The staff is great, helpful and attentive. We wanted to switch one of the games to see Dodgers, super helpful with that. The vibes inside the brewery is super chill, everyone having a great time. Great place for a retirement get together. The patio was perfect for our group of 20. Great idea we could set up individual orders by setting up a QR code for our crew. The nachos and wings were delish! Love that we could choose different sauces (highly recommend the chipotle sauce on the nachos and strawberry bbq wings!). Huge selections of beers, cocktails and very large selection of non alcoholic drinks. Everyone in our group tried more than one, all with great compliments! I really miss the originally brewery & bbq location. It was a must stop location for me whenever I was in Long Beach. With that said, this new location is really nice. It's much smaller, but has a more neighborhood pub kinda feel vs the restaurant that just happens to also sell beer vibe of the bbq joint. The employees here are very nice and helpful. I will say I've only ever been on random weekday afternoons when the place wasn't very busy so my customer service was exceptional. I could imagine, however, if this place is busy with one of their events, your experience might differ, though I would imagine the staff should be as friendly & helpful, just maybe drawn more thin than I have experience. I do wish they offered more pre canned beers for sale. As I live about an hour north, I like to stock up whenever I swing by but I also want some variety on my stock. There have been times when they've only had 2 or so varieties in cans. They have more bottle options, but as I often can't drink one of those on my own, I favor the cans. Beachwood is a great brewery and I am always glad to see their successes. This new location is a bit off the beaten track for me, but that's still not enough to make sure I swing by any chance I can. read more

I came here for our book club meetup and had the best time! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming they made us feel right at home the entire night. The Halloween-themed drink menu was so fun (the spooky mugs were everything!), and every cocktail we tried was amazing. I also tried some of the food, and it was absolutely delicious. Rude, inconsiderate and insensitive. This is my second review because my previous review was taken down!! Yelp do better and stop removing true reviews that are not violating content guidelines! What's the deal with the seating here! Stopped by last weekend and sat in the back borrowed two of the leather stools because the metal ones are uncomfortable and due to a back injury I wanted to sit in a more comfortable stool. Was approached by a male beertender and told to put the stools back because they are part of the bar and they "differentiate". I was halfway through my beer, I'm a paying customer that has been here countless times with friends and family. What's going on with the customer service? I told the beertender I borrowed it because of my back injury and he proceeded to reiterate that the stools are there to differentiate the place and need to be put back! No consideration to what I said whatsoever. I was going to put them back after I used them, I always clean up after myself even at restaurants! But the way I was approached left me feeling very disappointed. I've attached a picture of the bar, that's how the bar looked after I borrowed the two stools. There's plenty of seating and no one is even sitting on the other stools. I thought this experience was inconsiderate, insensitive and plain rude. Consider your guests, they are paying customers that support your business. Better management and training is needed! This review is for the wings only. Vibes are fun and I have nothing bad to say about the establishment overall. The wings were just gross. To me. To be fair, they're accurately advertised. Wood smoked. NOT FRIED. NOT CRISPY. They taste overwhelmingly like smoke and have the texture of a roasted chicken that's not crispy. I had the mango habanero sauce. My take is similar to the person who got strawberry BBQ. Not for me. It tasted like mango puree. No habanero to speak of, tasted raw and uncooked. Fries were delicious tho. Brussels sprouts were fine but VERY deep fried and greasy. read more

Last time I was at this location (4 years ago), it was Liberation Brewery. Sad to hear that they are no longer in business, but Beachwood Brewing is a nice consolation. I had their mule and it was tasty and gave a good buzz. They have a small lot in the back with a food truck to offer some nibbles during your visit. The gentleman behind the bar was very friendly and informative. The seating is a little awkward as most of the space is taken up by their giant distilling/brewing tanks (I don't know what to call them). They have pinball machines in the back, seating area in the front. Our kids LOVED the game board options that they offered. Although the seating didn't feel as cozy as other breweries my husband and I visited, we had a great time and enjoyed their delicious fries (as did the kids) while we drank. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great drinks, food, and pinball machines! I've actually been here several times but just got around to reviewing it. I've been a fan of Beachwood ever since their first Seal Beach location, and was sad when they decided to leave downtown Long Beach for good. This Bixby Knolls location isn't as convenient to me, but it's not that far and is worth the slightly longer drive. The great thing about this location is that since they also have a distillery on site, you can get cocktails in addition to beer! I've had a gin & tonic (choose from 3 gins and 3 tonics--cool) and the Old Flame (rum version of an old fashioned) and they were both excellent. Their food is really great, too--the veggie melt was divine, and while the fries could've been crispier, I ended up finishing the whole dang thing so it wasn't that bad! They have the aforementioned pinball machines--quite a variety of them, actually. One of their various fun activities is a pinball league, if you fancy yourself a pinball wizard. I hate to give a local place a low rating. But I visited four times so my rating is fair. Basically, stay far away from the Hamburger. I've had it twice and both times it's like eating a rubber sole. I'm actually sick today with indigestion from it. The customer service is pretty much non-existent. I had to get my own water, get up and go to the cashier and request a to- go box for my wife. He just stared at me and then I had to ask again. Oh, everything is very expensive. Ok, to be fair the pinball games in the back are cool. The bathrooms are clean and spacious (but one at a time). They have a nice variety of rum drinks and the option to get them in these really cool coach souvenir cups. We also had an order of their wings which were amazing so big and meaty love them will definitely come back for more appetizers because we did see some other things that we wanted to try. You walk in and the space is very open with lots of places to hang out. They also have arcade games in the back if you wanna, have a little fun. I'm reviewing just the food for this one and I hate to say this, but it kind of sucks. I'm a huge burger girl and rarely find any burger that I can't stand, but the ones here are not it. At all. I got the mushroom burger and it was so insanely greasy, some of the bacon slightly undercooked, and I honestly started to feel a little sick right after. Mushrooms themselves were good, but that was it. My boyfriend got the classic and didn't even eat half before tossing it, just as bad. Also crazy expensive ($16 for a burger without fries) considering it's made in a food truck outside. Doesn't seem that clean. I walked past a worker carrying an open tub of lettuce from the front, through the whole place, to the back. Will not return, would not recommend the food at all. Came here on a Friday night and it was very busy. I guess they have live music at 7 PM on Fridays. Line was out the door because the counter is right when you walk in. Honestly such an odd set up to me. So order a few beers for yourself and find a table asap otherwise you will find yourself waiting in the back of the long line to get another drink. Beers were really good and shots were eh but I also ordered the chai-quitita (?) and it was basically all ice! For $16, it was definitely a rip off.
