This Smog City location is so cute and quaint. It's very Long Beach-y in the way that it gives all the neighborhood vibes. I love it. We ordered the following to share: -French fries ($6): house aioli + sambal -chickpea kale salad ($18) with chopped tenders ($6): chickpea panisse, shaved parm, crispy chickpeas over Tuscan kale -smog city cheese skirt ($18): jack cheddar skirt + house aioli I actually loved the chickpea kale salad quite a bit. The kale is lightly coated in a Caesar dressing and you don't actually need to add extra protein. The chickpea panisse and crispy chickpeas are filling and satiating. I visited Smog City Heights a while ago to celebrate a special occasion, and I had a great time! This aesthetically pleasing and charming craft beer spot is located near Wardlow and Orange. They also have several other locations throughout LA County, with two of their sister spots located nearby in Torrance. The service here definitely passed the vibe check! The gentleman behind the counter was very welcoming and informative about the menu. They rotate their brews occasionally and collaborate with other local breweries and taprooms, which is a big plus for me. I love when local businesses support each other through collaborations. Fortunately, many other bars and pubs here in Long Beach follow this approach as well, creating a strong sense of community and support. Love to see it! Onto the brews! I had their "Legend of Citra IPA," and I really enjoyed it. Though somewhat limited, the beer selection was solid, and everything was served nice and cold. We also ordered the West Coast Pretzel and chicken tenders. I wasn't a big fan of the pretzel, but the tenders were pretty solid. They're served with honey mustard, and since they don't offer Thousand Island or a house sauce, I opted for ketchup instead. At the time of my visit, I don't think fries were on the menu, but I see that they offer them now. On my next visit, I'll most likely go with tenders and fries to pair with my brew. Overall, Smog City Heights is a nice, laid-back spot to grab a beer and a bite. I definitely recommend it to anyone in the area, support your local businesses! 4.5/5 read more

Came here with a friend and we wanted to try literally everything on the food menu. Fries are consistent as always. Chicken tenders are sometimes more crispy than other days. The pickled eggs are . And burger is good. First time trying the kale salad. It's plentiful and doused with dressing. I'm tore bc I want healthy but without the more dressing, kale is one of meh. Was that tofu in it? Maybe. Tried the bacon brownie with the icecream. Yummy. Not the best but it was solid. Good food with good beer is hard to find! read more

I kind of loved this location! Both the burgers were delicious. French Onion Burger definitely had the soup vibes. Skirt burger, we originally thought skirt steak was involved, but loved the presentation with the cheese skirt. We ordered one side of fries for 3 of us and the aioli was great. They were very busy, but efficient. Placing order took the longest. They had two POS systems, one for beer and one for food. They were very apologetic, honestly it was fine, probably just time-consuming for them. We also tried the Tenders which were very mediocre and we didn't finish. read more

I'll give the place 4 stars because they have spirit and the service is fantastic. That's good enough to not diss the place. What isn't the best or maybe weird: They want your CC at the outset and no cash. IDK about you, but I like my CC in my pocket until it's tap time. It's personal, I'll get over it. No burger anywhere is worth $18 but that's just the way it is. So if you know where the best is at that price, stick with it. Theirs runs with the average. If you like well done, you're in the right place. That's what a smash burger is. Why the fuss over these? My mom would have given those to the dog. 3 inch patty. I had the FALAFEL PITA and the taste was good. Not very generous with the sauce ( tzatziki, a fancy name for cucumber) and the little spinach patties were cooked to almost a black crisp. If they are frozen it probably takes that long to get the centers hot and they were. Or maybe they are "smash" patties. Anyway, that kills the taste, but overall it was still good. I ate everything down to the crumbs. Speaking of crumbs, the chick peas? Now those are weird. Nothing left, each just crushes into a little pile of flakes. Maybe overcooked as well. That seems to be the theme. Don't get excited about those or you'll be disappointed And that's the conclusion, if you have no expectations, the place is satisfying. It does get loud inside when there's enough people to half fill the place. I'd sit outside and listen to the traffic if I saw 15 people inside. I am a huge fan of the chicken wings here and of the pickled vegetables, especially the pickled beets. Almost wish I can order a side of those all by themselves. I love the pickled egg as well. The hamburgers and the fries and the brussels sprouts and the pretzel and the veggie burger and fried cauliflower are all amazing as well. Sometimes I just come here for the food. The beers here are amazing and delicious, but there are not as many beers here as there were when they were at Steele craft. There still is a nice selection of drinks though. Service was great and the beer tender was friendly and knowledgeable. Todd provided a lot of attention even when it was busy. Just know that the location has a few beers on tap until license gets approved they are offering some beers that are canned. The food is delicious! First, we have to give Todd infinity thumbs up. He is an amazing bartender and host. We almost went across the street to Roxanne's but we saw Todd waving us in so we thought let's go check it out. Look at the menu ordered babes, blonde and and a sabertooth squirrel yes I know crazy names for beers, but they tasted just like the name then we got to try a delicious smoke them if you got them and that was good as well. I think we need to take some home and use it with some cooking experiments. The burger was amazing. We had to smash burger. We had the chickpea fries and we also had the pickled eggs next level you gotta squeeze your pepper on it. The juice is from the pepper make it next level. The wings were good as well and the pickled veggies don't get me started... definitely will be a return for us.. if you're in the neighborhood come by this is a must try. Wine was on tap but good, my favorite beer coffee porter was in cans only. ..so not as good as draft. the menu was limited but mainly vegan/vegetarian. except for chicken wings and smash burgers. no pizza how sad. so we tried the smash burger and fried chick peas. the chick peas were like tofu, very bland, had to order two different dips to make them work. could not eat them all. the smash burger was dripping with aioli sauce on top and bottom somuch that it squished out everywhere when I took a bite. i had to scrape all of it off the top and bottom. it also came with pickled veggies?. what is up with that?. im not going back. there is too many other brew pubs with larger variety of draft beer and better food. read more

I visited Smog City in Long Beach during its grand re-opening with a party of eight and was watching the Dodgers game when another group arrived and requested the TV be switched to a hockey game. Despite our group already being settled and actively watching, the change was made without discussion, which felt dismissive.The experience left me uncomfortable and gave the impression that certain patrons were prioritized over others. If the grand opening was intended to focus on hockey viewing, that should have been clearly communicated, especially in a region where supporting a home team like the Dodgers is expected.I hope Smog City considers clearer communication and a more inclusive approach to guest experience moving forward read more

Smog city heights is getting back into the groove of things, they are finally tapping smog city beers after weeks of tapping random beer ( that wasn't up to par with the excellent craft beer around Long Beach). But... the ambiance lacks! The bartender stated "play off hockey" took preference (apparently) in the brewery, on a day where the kings weren't playing. Many patrons in Long Beach flock to bars to cheer on our Los Angeles teams and instead a random hockey game was played. What a disappointment! I thought this place is for the community to enjoy instead the only people enjoying themselves is the bartender and his friends. read more

Smog City does a great job. I discovered them at Steelcraft in Long Beach, and just now to their new location in Cal Heights. The beer is great. Not good, truly excellent my personal favorite is the Amarilla Gorilla IPA, but even the beers they have in styles that aren't to my particular taste are well-executed. The real story here is the service. Each beer tender I've had the pleasure of ordering from has been as passionate about creating a quality drinking experience for me as they are about the beer they're serving. Great people that I would definitely be friends with outside of the restaurant. I get the feeling that they all probably hang out together and go on adventures and stuff when they aren't working.
