Came in last night for a date night with the hubs. Immediatly was greeted and seated. My waitress was an older woman who was simply amazing. Professional, funny, accommodating and made me feel so comfortable. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. I had the Jessi girl burger with grilled onions. Delicious! The fries were also good. The husband had the my three sons burger with no egg. He ate the whole thing! He loved his meal as well. The ranch they make themselves is the beat ranch I've ever had. Which is saying something because I've tested thousands of other ranches. We actually met the cook as well, John I believe his name was. He was friendly, professional and super kind. Even if the food was horrible I would have came back just for the friendly and amazing customer service; seeing as how the food is freaking amazing and the staff is even better, I'll be coming back no second thoughts! read more

I have had lunch here a couple times and it was ok so I decided date night with hubby for dinner tonight. HUGE mistake. Got there just after 5:00 and it was empty but for a table or two. Sat in the bar side because it was cooler. Not a soul was in there. We ordered our meal. I ordered the ribeye after asking if the steak was good and hearing a resounding yes. When asked how I liked it I said medium rare and talked to her about how some places make it bloody and some serve it over done and she assured me that medium rare was exactly that there. Cool. Then we sat drinking our beverages and we waited. Another table of 4 came in, was seated and they ordered. Soon, out came the food but it wasn't ours. And we waited. Waitress came to check on them and completely ignored us and we waited. Finally I had to call to her when she came to check on them again and asked if there was a problem. She told me that a steak takes longer and leaves. And we waited. She comes back and tells me that there is a problem with the mashed potatoes and what I would like instead. I look over at the the other table eating their food which was ordered AFTER us and they have chicken fried steak and (you guessed it) mashed potatoes and gravy. I asked why they got it and mine is bad and she tells me the cook skorched mine and I wouldn't want to eat it. And we waited. Finally our food arrives and I am starving at this point so I dig in. My steak is cold and medium well, not the medium rare I asked for. At this point I just wanted to go home. I pushed my plate away and waited for the waitress. She come and asked if I was done and I asked her if my steak looked medium rare? She said no and insists on getting the cook. I don't want to talk to the cook, I just want her to make it right and let me go home. He comes out (also the owner I am told) and asked what to problem was. I told him. He asked if I want something else. I said at this point I don't want anything else but i am not eating that. Without a word, he just walks off. No "I'm sorry I screwed up,", no "Let me make this right, it was my mistake.", nothing. Just walked away. The waitress came back and said she had "permission" to take half off my meal, Really???? I am not a super picky eater but when I pay $25 for one meal, it should be done right.I will never go back there again. Maybe this guy could flip burgers in a food cart but he sure as hell can't run a restaurant! He should have stayed in the truck!!!! read more

I love this place first of all. But there is a waitress there. Short blonde hair and n attitude, who left me and my table waiting for well over a half an hour. She was on the phone the entire time. Finally she came to our table and we ordered drinks. I ordered a cup of tea. It never came and never came so I went to the kitchen area and there she was on the phone again. Great advertising. Cheerful staff. The food, not so much. Bad grease, over seasoning, and more salt than an over loaded Columbia River barge in each days offerings. In theory a good place to try, but don't go out of your way. Never been a fan of eating from a trough wherein everyone, clean or not, hovers over, breathes on and or sneezes on the food that was pre cooked and left to dry out and grow bacteria. Ate here for lunch, ordered the beach wood burger and fries, it was my favorite when the owner and his wife worked at the trailer downtown. What I got this time, was tasteless, no seasoning. The bun was soaked in grease. The fries were greasy and dried out. We won't be back. Too bad!! read more

As I finally get home fom a day battling food poisoning after eating at Beachwood last night I will tactfully write this review. First of all they have spruced up the joint but have left the decor much the same from the previous owners. Although the place was not busy the waitress seemed preoccupied with everything else but doing her job. My wife ordered their fried mac and cheese bites for an appetizer. The presentation was nice but as we tried them we realized they were like a photo shopped picture of your date on a date site,looks nice till you pick them up. So when we picked them up and bit in we realized quickly that it was mac and cheese from a box. Don't get me wrong I have been known to make some dank trailer park food but I expect a little bit more when I go out. This theme continued with the "house fav" the twisted turkey. It was nothing more than Stove Top Stuffing put in a waffle iron with instant mashed potatoes on top gravy from a can and processed turkey loaf sliced. My wife had a burger that was doused in bbq sauce and no other condiments on it. The waitress didn't even bother to bring out basic condiments, water, or silverware and she was hard to flag down to the point we just wanted to get our tab and go. Usually when we leave a restaurant we are already planning where we are going to hide our leftovers from our growing teenage son but on this night we both agreed that he can have them no questions asked. Where the food poisoning comes in I can only guess it was something on the salad bar that seemed to be a remnant from the previous owners. Whatever it was I lay in my bed trying to choke down 7up and make my stomach not feel like I have an alien baby inside it. So to summarize if you in the mood for some awesome dank trailer park food I would suggest staying home, raiding your own pantry for some of the best processed food money can buy and make your own comfort creations. As far as the salad bar I have been having flashbacks of the Rashneeshes all day. I thought after thirty some years The Dalles salad bars were safe. I ate at this restaurant last week and I just wanted to share what an amazing establishment this place is. I had the pioneer burger and it was sublime. The fries were so perfect and endless. The waitstaff was delightful and spot on perfect. The decor was very cool. The price point was great. I got the check and felt like I was robbing them. Had breakfast this morning, ordered the French toast and one piece had a huge area of mold on it. I sent it back and opted for just an English muffin and a side of bacon. Again a disappointment, bacon tasted funny almost as if it was cooked in a lot of pam cooking spray. Wow! Bait and switch! We thought we'd try it and had an ad stating $6 burgers and $ 1 beers. Got there confirmed the ad with waitress and ordered. She then disappeared! Much later without drinks or food she advised that she had talked to manager on phone - ad was only for a plain hamburger so no go! We kept our order, not her fault that management didn't even tell wait staff (she came back twice to read ad) well sorry. $13 burgers were ok but not $13 worth and fries were cold. FYI one waitress was on her second day and other 2nd week and no manager on premises. The ad got us there but their refusal to honor it will keep us from a return visit!sorry Beechwood. I have eaten here several times. I was addicted the first time I went. All of their burgers are delicious. Their Barbeque sauce is home made, their fries are seasoned perfectly and the value is unbeatable. The portion size to price will not leave you hungry and frustrated. (bear with me here, I have a point) When you get your chance at a pop fly, sometimes you're busy swatting at a bee in your face. So when it took a minute to get greeted and seated in a not-so-busy place, I understood and was patient with imperfection.(still less than 5 minute wait, not a big deal in the grand scheme of life). I didn't let it set the tone for my experience...so glad I didn't. I ate a delicious meal at a place where we had the choice between home-cut fries or frozen, because so many customers had voiced that they like one or the other. That's super accommodating...almost like a mom who cuts the crust of your PB n J, right? My friend had the frozen one, I went with home cut (mine were waaaaay better ;) I chose the pineapple cider to compliment the shrimp po-boy loaded with fried shrimp, fresh tomatoes and a zippy little house-made special sauce. We sat in the bar section which was clean and cozy and watched a little baseball. It was my turn to buy, so imagine how happy I was when the bill was less than thirty bucks for two meals, beer, cider, and even a little charm that goes the tourist charm bracelet collection which starts at the Dalles Chamber of Commerce. Worst restaurant if you can call it that. The twisted turkey is nothing like they describe it is processed turkey over stove top stuffing doused in canned gravy. My fiancé was served raw fish and when we told them the manager said it can't be raw we stuck a thermometer in it. Ok so one piece was cooked but the other three were not. But the 1" thick breaking on the outside was burnt to a crisp meaning the oil is too hot. The coffee could have probably replaced the oil in my car and The clam chowder tasted like dirt. I asked for fresh coffee which I never received and we told our waiter he should taste the chowder which he did not, it was still in the salad bar when we left. I enjoy going to the Beachwood. I go for lunch or brunch about 2x a month. The food is good I like the burgers and other sandwiches. I've had breakfast there and it was nice but nothing I couldn't cook at home, but it's nice to not have dishes to wash. read more

Went to try a sort of 'new' place to eat.. wow. Worse service ever..15 minutes to order ..ordered drinks and dinner. .15plus minute to get the drinks... dinner another 15 minute. . Asked for tartar sause and catsup.... waited. Hubby went looking for it after 10 minutes.omg. then his fish could not be cut with a knife .. to make it even worse when we told the waiter we were not pleased he made it like it was our problem that we had 'miscommunicated' to him.. what exactly is miscommunicating when you ask for tartar sauce and catsup and it takes 10 minutes and nothing happens so you go look for it yourself?? OH and another couple came in while we were waiting.. sat down because it is a seat yourself .. they waited and waited and no one offered menus, water or a greeting.. they finally got up and walked out. would never recommend this place. read more

This place has great food. The portions they give out is more than what you pay for. Although it does take some time for the chef to make your order- because of how fresh it is- they do have the accessory to call in and order your food ahead of time, which is great. They also have a chalk wall thats great for the kids, and they update their facebook daily for everyday specials. This is a great place that I like taking my friends and family to. read more
