I recently brought our Toyota to a Toyota service center for an oil change. They completed an inspection and recommended we replace the front/rear brake pads, a caliper, and front struts. The Toyota service center quoted $7,000. Based on a buddies recommendation I brought my vehicle to Beacon for a second opinion. Highly recommend! Even as a new resident, Beacon treated me like I'd been a customer since opening. They were straightforward, and fixed my car quickly without adding any extra issues- which could of course sometimes happen if necessary, but my point is I am very obviously clueless and could have easily been taken for a ride. I was experiencing some shuddering when braking at highway speeds and had taken my car in to the dealership to have them look at it. They recommended replacing rotors and pads, but their estimate seemed high. I called Beacon Automotive and explained the problem I was having, what the dealership recommended, and gave them the estimate I had. They set me up with an appointment two days later. A couple hours after dropping of my car they called to confirm what the dealership had told me, but were able to provide more detail about what likely caused the issues. They quoted me several hundred dollars less than the dealership, so I authorized the work. I picked it up before they closed for the day, and I swear it brakes smoother than it did when we bought it (used) 2 years and 20k miles ago. read more

A couple months ago my husband and I bought a car we had wanted for a while. The folks that sold it to us got one over on us and it had a good deal of rust on a vital part. Not only did beacons staff fix our problem in a timely manner, they were so empathetic with our situation. The staff guided and taught us about our own car and showed us the purpose of the part and explained what they had replaced and why. Beacon is the entire package. We walked away with more knowledge about cars (which has never happened at a shop before) and to top it all off they quoted us lower than any other shop in the area. Feeling so thankful to have found the team at Beacon! Brought my car in with the Check Engine light on, and was called within a few hours with the estimate for repair. Better yet, it was ready for me that afternoon! The repair at Beacon cost 20% less than an estimate I had gotten from another shop in town- plus the other place charged me a $125 diagnostic fee, totaling a 50% savings at Beacon. As a lone woman, it's easy to feel taken advantage of while shopping for an auto repair. However, Beacon has proven to be trustworthy, efficient, and fair. All I have to say is, if I could give 10-stars I would. I have been going to place for automotive repair needs for awhile now. Each and every time I make an appointment, Steve, Melissa, Ron and the rest of the Beacon staff are very prompt, precise in diagnosing the issue, and repair the problem with the highest-quality workmanship. I am very satisfied in the work they do. From what I've experienced and witnessed, they seem to treat me and the other customers with honesty and upmost respect. They truly put the human kindness in auto repair. I can't thank them enough for keeping my 1995 Camry LE (the car my late-Mother loved being driven around in) running like mint to this day and I will continue to go to them and only them for my auto repair needs. Our beloved VW van broke down and our local repair place closed shop. After checking reviews, I found Beacon. I am SOOO glad I did!! We were heading out of the country and had no way of contacting them for over a week. I said "just fix whatever needs fixing". They did just that at a great price, delivered it back to my house and said "pay me when you get back in town". THAT is true customer service!!! I will certainly be returning to Beacon!! Turns out someone here over torqued the oil drain plug and stripped the threads. Now, I'm at the Honolulu VW dealer waiting two weeks for a new oil pan to the tune of $750 and no car. Someone needs to call me and make this right. read more

Beacon has serviced my vehicles for the past 2 years. They have been super helpful with basic questions as I am not the most handy with automobile maintenance. They have done auto big and small maintenance jobs from Brakes and Radiators to oil Changes, inspections and random light bulbs. The work completed was done on time without waiting long periods for parts. They are super helpful in scheduling the service appointments. Amazingly kind, helpful and honest people! I just moved to the area 6ish months ago, so I just now needed to find a car repair shop. I checked yelp and saw their perfect 5 star reviews and figured why not try it out? Yesterday I went in at 7:30 (before they even open) as to get there for an oil change before I had to go to work. Steve was there to welcome me and get that going, as well as to check out a possible leak I had noticed. He informed me that my radiator actually needed to be replaced and even showed me what was going on under the car. He was very informative and didn't treat me as if I was totally clueless about cars (as other places often do), even though I quite honestly am. He notified me that the parts place would have my part by tomorrow, and that I could come in at the same time to get it fixed. They topped off my anti-freeze and had me on my way in about half an hour to 45 minutes. When I went in today, I dropped off my car and got a ride to work from one of the mechanics, Justin--which is something I totally didn't expect. When I mentioned that I'd have to get a taxi to work Steve insisted that they could just give me a ride. Mind you I work off of Thames so at this time of year, that can take like 20 minutes, possibly more. When the work was done Melissa called me, and said she could pick me up at work and get me back to get my car. Amazing customer service! If you like to support your local businesses, or if you don't, this is THE BEST place on Aquidneck Island to bring your car. Usually I hate bringing my car in to auto shops because it's always a big ordeal, but the kind people at Beacon made it totally painless and I am truly grateful for that. read more

I found this place on yelp and thanks to all of the great reviews i called and made an appointment. I usually go to Premier toyota on the island but I am horrible with appointments and it may sound spoiled but I do best with same day appointments. These guys were extremely flexible! I told them I was going away for the holiday weekend and they gave me an appointment for the next day to change my oil. It was very quick, 30 minutes and they were extremely informative, helpful, and cost effective. My oil change was only $30. I will use these guys for my car needs moving forward. read more

Absolutely encompasses everything you want when servicing your car. Professional, direct, and honest; the owner of beacon personally makes an assessment of the vehicle and made it easy for me to understand. In addition, I brought the vehicle in at 1500 on a Friday during the height of the military moving season (he had a lot of vehicles that he was working on) and the mechanics of beacon had it fixed (and filled with gas) an hour later. The trip to the Subaru dealership would have costed over $200 to fix a clogged air valve, Beacon charged $65, $40 of which was used to fill my empty gas tank. Would recommend this to anyone who is having trouble dealing with the auto dealership to use the mechanics at beacon to get a second opinion. read more

All checked out, oil change, tire rotation, window washer fluid dispenser fixed, wipers, side reflector Light replaced....Beacon works with and Inspection station, all set in a couple of hours, inspection good to 2019. Grandma's car was making a funny noise while we were on vacation in Newport. I found Beacon because of their stellar Yelp reviews, and then had the best car experience of my life. We arrived without an appointment, and were taken care of immediately. Fortunately the car issue was something minimal, but they fixed it and sent us on our way within minutes! The entire process was a breeze, everyone there was lovely, and obviously extremely competent and car-knowledgeable. (Plus there was a puppy to play with during the 5-minutes we were there.) Like another reviewer said nothing new to report about their high quality of work and fair prices. I was recommended by a friend to check them out through Yelp to deal with brake noises before my car gets shipped over seas. They did not try to upsell or make any additional recommendations unless it was valid. They told me the price when they isolated the problem and gave me a heads up that additional parts and labor may be needed if they couldn't get a part back on due to its condition (it wasn't bad it just might not seat correctly with the new pads). When I picked up the car they told me they got the calipers in and was able to replace them without having to spend any more money. Good and honest husband and wife team! read more

They were able to get it finished within one day, but it would be a good idea to give them a call and make an appointment. 5 stars is just not enough to rate Beacon automotive! Steve got my truck in and diagnosed quickly. He even found a problem that could have become very serious very quickly which would have resulted in me needed a tow truck (Ford missed this problem by the way). When Steve called me with the estimated cost I was shocked in the best possible way as no one can compare to the pricing, workmanship, and customer service. Upon picking up my truck Steve had even saved the bad parts to show me what was wrong. I cannot explain enough how important this is for someone who is not a car buff to understand what was wrong. Hands down the best automotive service I've had since owning a car. Like most I have become suspicious of auto work and the rip offs that many talk about, but Beacon treated us more than professionally and honestly. While Steve worked on our Equinox, his wife kindly drove us to the local shopping while we waited. When it was finished, she picked us back up and returned us to the garage, where we had an honest assessment of the cars health, not a sales pitch about how our car could use extra parts and labor.
