Our waitress was amazing and no complaints about her service. They advertise being #24 in almost 1200 restaurants in Fort Worth, but after eating there today, either all standards are lower now or The Beacon has really dropped the ball. We have eaten at the Beacon for many years, starting at the original location on the airfield and the food has always been wonderful until today. I ordered my usual French toast breakfast. The whole reason I love it is because they use almond flavoring in the batter. Today, the bread was more stale and harder to chew than usual, the whipped butter was a cheap margarine, and the French toast tasted eggy, with no almond flavor. The meal comes with eggs and sausage or bacon. I chose bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. The bacon was very old and cold and tough like it was left over from early morning cooking and the eggs were cold, strong tasting and there was no cheese in them. Even the syrup was a poor quality. What happened to the great food and quality ingredients?! I asked the waitress if there was a substitute chef today or if there were new owners. She said no. I told her about the food. She told me she paid for my meal. I certainly hope not. I left her a nice tip, but if she comp'd my meal, the cafe should've absorbed the cost and not the waitress. In the end, my daughter said she wished I would've cooked it for her at home instead. She had the same meal and was disappointed also. I'd like to say I'd go back and try again, but this might be the last time for me. Breakfast entrees are $14.99 each and it's a little costly to gamble on whether it will be good or not on the day you go. Update: I'm changing this from 2 stars to 1 star based on the sarcastic and rude response of the owner/manager. I stand by everything I mentioned in the review. I was never given an opportunity to have my breakfast remade or I would've accepted that. I didn't wait to leave to make a review. I actually spoke to someone while I was there before I ever decided to leave a review. I never even mentioned pralines. In fact my review is on point with no exaggeration. The bacon was really like beef jerky it was so tough and cold, but I didn't want to sound too harsh. Everything else was as bad as I stated above. If quality ingredients were used to make this meal, something happened to where it wasn't quality when it was served to the table. That's not on me to figure out, that's on you. I would never post something that is untrue. I've supported your local business for many years, but the quality isn't there anymore and I can't pretend it was good just because I believe in supporting local. read more

The good and service here are always really good and genuine. Portion size is a pretty good amount. I ordered one of the pineapple upside down pancakes with a side of bacon and it was very filling. The coffee is delicious and not watered down. They bring the coffee in a to go cup with the option of a lid for you to take it with you and there is plenty of creamer on the table so you don't have to ask for more. The booths are big enough to fit my infant car seat with plenty of space for the family. The food is delicious, anything you order. The price is reasonable and the service is friendly and quick. A must whenever we go out to eat. They also gave my daughter a toy plane that you build yourself, which she loved. read more

I've been ordering that most days, and the food is always delicious, and I've sometimes tried something new and ended up loving it. Some of my favorite lunch specials are the chili cheeseburger; Cajun meatloaf sandwich; chicken and apricot salad sandwich on toasted bread; chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich; blackened chicken sandwich; chicken wrap; and taco salad. My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. We finally had a day off together so we went to check it out. The overall experience was fantastic. The food was great and the service was friendly and fast. We both had the classic breakfast and every thing that it came with was great. My favorite part was the potatoes because they were hot and crispy. I like try bacon extra crispy and when I order it that way other places it still comes out a little to raw for me. They actually cooked it extra crispy!!! The only thing we wished they has was sourdough bread as a substitute on the menu. Other than that A+. Keep up the good work and will be back soon. read more

This place does not disappoint! I ordered the chicken fried steak & eggs, pineapple upside down pancakes, and my boyfriend ordered the triple meat omelette. Everything was absolutely AMAZING!!!! This is a unique diner for breakfast and lunch but I have only eaten breakfast so far. My breakfast was so good I forgot to take a photo. I will definitely be going back so I take some photos to show you what you are missing next time. Trust me, the pineapple upside down pancakes and the lemon blueberry pancakes are out of this world in flavor. There are other pancake options too in the buffet line that you can choose and there is a build your own omelet spot, plus bacon, fruit, muffins, and more. You can order from the table too instead of going through the buffet but I recommend the buffet so you can try items you didn't know you even wanted to eat. Went to breakfast Sunday morning and it was to most disgusting buffet I've witness and their only option for Breakfast. First time we went here it was great and our waitress was great. Second time they wouldn't allow us to use the menu and made us have the buffet. I agreed reluctantly since I have had weight loss surgery. Good was good but the price was ridiculous! I'm trying to be forgiving with my rating because I want to support local small business. Plus, my first experience a couple years ago was better than this experience (second try). Unfortunately, today has been lackluster, to say the least, on several fronts. It took a long while for someone to take our drink order and just as long before they took our food order. Food took a while, too. The sauce for the gyro breakfast was half frozen. The fans are going full speed on a cold winter day because they don't have good ventilation for the buffet cook stations (that's what they told me), so I am freezing and have to wear my coat to eat. The coffee, which I had hoped to warm me up, was not very hot and tastes burnt and stale. They have coffee mate creamer, instead of real creamer, which adds nothing to the horrid coffee flavor. Food is good, but the combination of service, atmosphere, and drink doesn't make this the 4.5 stars that it has earned. Management, please do something, because I want this place to be a regular spot for my family. :( read more

The Beacon Cafe on Hwy 287 is usually one of my favorite breakfast spots. I may eat there again, but I will NEVER get another omelet (or anything else on the buffet). For the 2nd time, my omelet was horrible. They cook the eggs and then flip it over with all of the unmelted cheese and other barely warmed toppings on top of the omelet.
