Beacon Rock currently has no fairways or greens. The fairways are 3-6" of un-mowed grass...can't tell where a fairway begins and the rough ends. The greens are weeds that are mowed short with wide, open bare patches...very little grass. Tee boxes are gouged up with chunks of turf gone and 4" high grass. The last time I played here a couple of years ago, it was in decent shape. Absolutely to be avoided now. read more

Girl golfer here...this would be a 3,5 star review, if I could give half stars. I first came to this course with my girlfriend my first year learning to golf (that was last year, y'all). It is not an easy course! Even my husband, who is an avid golfer says so. It is beautiful and despite what you might think, you won't get views of the Gorge here. But you will be ensconced in gorgeous Pacific Northwest trees and hills that will take your breath away. This is an 18-hole course and it appears that some holes share a green with other holes (though, I've only played 9, so I can't say for certain). The fairways are challenging, in that they'll take turns or be quite narrow, edged my foliage or marsh that makes finding a wayward ball challenging. (However, if you have a ball finder, you could come away ball-rich!) they also are dry and patchy, adding to the challenge of the course. The greens are especially challenging because they are not clean and smooth. There are different varieties of grass (weeds?) on them and patches of dry ground. The staff is friendly and the people who golf here are casual and very friendly as well! All in all, I recommend this challenging, beautiful course. read more

It was my first time at this Golfcoures, I went to celebrate my birthday on October 27 .. I made Tee time at 7am .. and called to see if I will be ok to play that early , the guy from the club house told me at 7 am is when starting lighting up.. he didn't realize the Tee time was made with two weeks in advance.. so after I landed to the place was all dark I called the number at the door and no body was there , the guy who answered the phone told me on my way there .. he show up and I told him why I was upsetting about it .. he claimed I never called him . so let me play after the 9 round play I went to paid he told me you did called and I am not going to charge you for the misunderstanding . You got it understand it was made two weeks before tee time and now get darker by the minute .. so he made it right and I highly recommend this golf course it was fun to play and very impressive landscape.. read more

Took my bff....the wife...out for a round. Got a great price for cart inclusive round. First off, aside from the killer deal, the clubhouse staff just couldn't be any more friendly, like welcoming home the prodigal son! Locals were friendly and did not push or rush us...and we are hacks that make other golfers look away. Incredible scenery and course was in good shape, especially considering how brutally long the winter was up here. Greens are a bit spongy, that's my only gripe...and a small one at that. We went out to the course for the first time today. We were nervous because it was a balmy 41 degrees and sunny. The carts were completely covered so driving was warm and not windy. They also had great tires. The course was super laid back and family friendly. They also drove us out our food on the 2nd hole. We loved the whole vibe of this course. While it isn't that long, the course is challenging. You must be accurate and have good control of your irons. Very few holes allow you to be left or right by much. The alternate tee boxes can really change the holes. The owner and staff are wonderful. Personable and attentive. read more

Wedged (ahem, no pun!!) in a setting to die for, this very well maintained little course does wonders making such a confined place work well for golf. There are some wacky holes, in particular # 4 which is carved into the side of a hill. It plays around 400 yards, but you better be straight to par it!! You likey hit real far soldier?!? Too bad! Hitty real far, better be straight! The greens were excellent, but even better was the accommodating owner who greeted us like old friends and has obviously put a ton of energy into improving this place. Stunning views abound, the greens roll true, and this place is headed no where but up. And, as for "UP", it's awfully easy to look up at the high basalt cliffs. Discipline is needed not to spend all your time gawking at this pristine setting. read more

We decided to buy a groupon to go golf Beacon Rock Golf Course. Looking back I should have known how it would go. When I called to make the tee time the gentleman on the phone, no excuse me not a gentleman, the man on the phone was rude and cut me off when I was talking and telling him we had a Groupon because I wanted to make sure it worked for the time we were wanting to go. So yesterday we show up, I go in to check in while Michael loads the clubs. The man behind the counter, who I assumed was the guy on the phone, because he was once again rude and short with me because he couldn't find my groupon and told me I needed to tell them that when I called because they need to make sure they have the carts available. Which I tried to do. I passed 8 carts on my way in, but ok. So after feeling unwanted and talked down to I went out to tell Michael. We moved on and kept with our day. We got done with the 9 holes and were going to golf the course again because we paid for 18. I went inside to ask if we could play around there was a kids group on the first hole so we were just going to skip a hole and move on. As I came outside the same man pulled up on a golf cart next to ours and said yes that's fine but what I do have a problem with is your brought your own beer. As most of you know we live in Oregon, we were unaware that it's illegal in Washington. I figured like most they'd rather have you buy beer from them but all the golf courses I've been to it wasn't illegal. So he not so nicely tells us to put in our car. I say absolutely I'm really sorry we didn't know, start to say how we live in Oregon and just didn't know it was illagel. He proceeds to cut me off and say yeah you didn't see all the signs inside. I replied, no I didn't. He laughs, says put them in your car. Then he walks away. I grab the cooler and the keys and as I'm 10 feet away starts in on me again under his breath. I turn and say I'm sorry is there a bigger problem here that I'm not aware of? We exchange a few more words and finally Michael and I decide to just leave. I've never been treated so poorly by a business or a person for that matter. We load up and I'm thinking man I don't want to leave on such bad terms I go in and tell him hey I just want to clear the air I feel like we both may have misunderstood each other out there. He continues to belittle me and talk to me like I'm stupid. So now I don't want to make things kosher. Yes I was heated inside but I calmly told him that I didn't appreciate the way he talked to me from the beginning and that we were following his word and put the beer in the car. Why did he have to continue in on me. He had no answer just negative comments back. I asked if he was the owner. He said yes, I said well that's unfortunate and left. His name is Mark Mayfield. We are driving down the road in silence because we both are like what just happened? I start crying because I literally can't imagine why a human would treat other humans so poorly. I've been in customer service jobs forever. I've dealt with my fair share of assholes that talk down to me. But this guy, this guy made me feel so low and unworthy I've never felt before. Why? Because I'm a woman, because we don't look the part of your "fine establishment," because we broke a rule that we didn't even know was a rule and very willingly obliged to make it right. I just didn't get it. Obviously he wasn't worth my tears and I know that but I think it's just so hard when you get talked to like you're the scum of the earth. I truly don't understand and I'm hoping to share so nobody else goes there and gets treated the way I did. Maybe you won't, maybe it was just us he didn't like. But if so why. Great little hideaway in North Bonneville. Friendly staff, delicious food, quality golf. They've done an excellent job restoring the grounds back to good playing condition after such a destructive winter. The owners treat you like family. Very hospitable, as if you were guests in there home. Highly recommend stopping by for food and a beautiful course. read more

Love this place, if you make the trip out to the gorge it's worth it! I recommend getting a cart for sure. I also recommend you take the time to stop and enjoy the scenery. I have never written a yelp review in my life, but I feel like this golf course deserves my time and importance in this review. Hidden away in the beautiful Columbia river gorge is this golf course, that I could say I've grown up with. Every year my father would take me golfing here during the summer, as sort of a treat for me and a bit of father/son bonding. I always looked forward to the great views while golfing and having a nice secluded golfing experience. During these golfing trips up the gorge, I would also look forward to going up to Skamania lodge just down the highway a ways to get food after a day of golfing. Slowly, I started to not want to go to Skamania Lodge, and just have food in the diner. The service and food has always been served with a smile, and exceeded my expectations every time. The staff have always been exceedingly nice to my father and I, and have always tried their best in making the experience a worth while one.Its like I'm one of the family. Two days before I left for college, my dad and I went on our last golfing trip to here. After eating the delicious Reuben that they serve here, I was given a little extra treat for desert completely complimentary of the owners. I know it wasn't much from them, but to me, going there every year since I was a little kid, was the cherry on top that really motivated me to write this review. The feeling of compassion and hospitality all these years has always brought me back to the same golf course doing the same round of 9 day in and day out. I couldn't recommend this golf course enough, and I would never want to golf anywhere else after my experience here after all these years. read more

To start off, the man, who seems to be owner, was awesome and made sure we had everything we needed for a great day, including a cooler for the drinks we purchased! However, when we were half way through and decided to take a lunch break, the service seemed to get extremely worse. The man was not present, and woman who was now in charge had zero hospitality at all. She seemed angry that we had not finished in her "expected time" and was completely rude to us. In an angry tone she told us "we can't rent out the golf carts for all day, we have other people that might come." Keep in mind, they gave us NO time limit when we started and we had only been using the golf cart for 3 hours. And the course was empty, nobody was "waiting" for the cart. Not to mention the "break" we took was to give her buisiness at the so-called "restaurant." I say it that way because I know how restaurants run, i dont believe it is health code for the person making the food to not use gloves, periodically TOUCHING HER HAIR AND CLOTHES, and not washing her hands in between. The kitchen is fully visible from the dining area, so we were fully able to check if indeed she had washed her hands. Being able to see the lack of cleanliness made it almost impossible to eat the food. The two women working at this time seemed that they have never worked in a restaurant before. They messed up a simple order, without any discount for such mistake. I've worked at many restaurants and that is the normal protocol if the order is wrong, they compensate the meal. Well not here!!! On top of this the main woman in charge got into an argument with the women who was the "chef" because she began to take money out of the tip jar and the woman in charge then yelled at her right in front of us. Very unprofessional and zero customer service skills are used here. Besides the man who is in charge, hes great and I feel bad he has to work with these two women. Work on your customer service! The worse customer service i have ever dealt with. My two sons and father in law traveled over an hour to play there on father's day, which I had booked a reservation the day before and talk with the front desk. We had purchased a Groupon that stated " valid anytime " We were met by the most obnoxious and rude female i've ever experienced at the front desk who stated we were not golfing there regardless that it was Father's Day and our coupon was not going to be accepted. Mark, the front counter guy stated the same thing. I showed them the fine print on my coupon which says " valid anytime " and he pulls out some type a piece of paper that disputes my info. I asked him regardless of the dispute , is he really going to turn my whole family back on Father's Day and not allow us to play? He had the ability to make an exception ( though shouldn't have needed that due to what the coupon stated ) to let us golf and instead decided to be a tough guy and deny us all. Then to top it off , the rude female ( won't even entertain calling her a lady ) followed us outside and escalated the situation by staring at us , then antagonizing us and telling us to leave and not come back! I seriously have never been treated so horribly and all this for a small little par 9 course in the middle of nowhere ...really? if you gave me a membership there for life I would never step foot in that establishment....truly unbelievable! FYI - i got my money back from Groupon due to them agreeing with me that the golf course fine print did not match the fine print on groupon. Amazing ! read more

Mark & his wife run the golf course as well as the Restaurant all their meals are made from scratch using nothing but the best ingredients to include organic salads. They have a daily soup that are all made from scratch that are all awesome. Last week I had a Red Pepper Tomato soup that was delicious like silk was so good I went back the next day after calling in to see if they still had some. All their meals are great. I like going there for breakfast since they open at 7:00 a.m. and have had 3 egg scramble with either bacon, sausage or ham and fresh spinach not frozen or can but fresh, Great coffee (Colombian) great place for breakfast / lunch early dinner even if you aren't a golfer! read more

This is a treasured 9-hole course in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area (a federally designated area of outstanding natural and scenic value that receives a level of protection that is less stringent than wilderness designation--like a national park but people live in cities and work here). Beacon Rock Golf Course is very beautiful and well maintained--you'll get a sense that you're in a far-away land and yet its only 35 min from downtown Vancouver USA and 40 min from Portland, Oregon. The clubhouse is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials, and the food is very tasty and prepared with care--great value for the pricing! There is outside deck seating and occasionally they have live music. read more
