This small little coffee shop is neighborhood treasure. The cashier was so friendly and warm on the Saturday morning that I went. I got an iced soy latte with their house made honey syrup and cinnamon and was impressed but the espresso. I am pretty picky when it comes to espresso and I found theirs delightful and smooth. I would defiantly recommend.

Bean About Town is a local coffee/matcha latte joint in Kaimuki, the hipster/trend center of Oahu. This area gives me Portland, OR vibes which was really cool. I tried their iced BB (butterscotch bourbon) latte per recommendation from their cashier, and I did like the coffee itself but didn't taste much of their homemade syrup. The BB syrup also does not dissolve properly and leaves a weird emulsion texture at the bottom and rim of the cup. If they reformulate the syrup to be more readily dissolvable in the latte, would give 4*. Their atmosphere and scones look great. I also tried my friends coffee which I liked more than the BB latte. Would be down to try again.

I used to frequent this spot when it was The Curb. I always found it cozy and a nice comfortable place to get some really nice espresso shots. Nothing has changed about the atmosphere when it became Bean About Town. They have excellent local coffees roasted in-house and specialty single origins and blends brought in. That means you can get some very special shots pulled by the baristas, who are knowledgeable and friendly. It doesn't matter if you're are an aficionado or a casual novice to coffee. You will find this a chill and comfortable place to relax - they've put in cozy benches outside the entrance and some welcome tables by the stairs. Everywhere inside are wooden kokeshi dolls that express friendship. Take a look at all the different ones. They are really neat. In addition to espresso you can also get some specialty coffee and matcha drinks. There is some heated food, fruit breads, canales, and scones to get you going. A nice place to #keepitkaimuki.

So yummy! Love the in house flavored syrups they have! I ordered a butterscotch bourbon iced latte and like wow, super good! Loved the look of their hot lattes too. Espresso was smooth and not bitter. The merch is also super cute. They have the coffees they use for sale. Bake goods were yummy and fresh! We had great friendly service! I will go back.

This coffee shop is conveniently located in Kaimuki across the park. It can be seen from the main road so you can't miss it. There's lots of parking in the area. Seats outside for you to enjoy your coffee. It took me a minute to understand the menu, seemed like there were little menus placed in different areas. Service was quick. Typical coffee shop prices. I paid $6-7 for my drink. I got an iced hojicha with kinako and black sesame. It was okay, it's what I expected.

They have house made syrups. Order the white chocolate earl grey or the vanilla earl grey lattes. Those were good. Skip the BB (butterscotch bourbon) latte, although it sounds yummy, it tasted like milk. Unsure if the guy barista knew how to make it but I had to ask for another shot espresso. The lady who took our order was wonderful!

Bean About Town matcha was solid. Smooth and not too bitter. Good quick stop if you're in the area and want something refreshing. Good vibes and the service was great.

Such a cute little nook. The baristas here are very friendly and helpful. Their space is small but good enough for what they sell. They have a small bench for indoor seating and a small space for outdoor seating. Hojitcha latte was delicious and more tea than milk which I enjoyed! A very solid tea latte. My friend had the Sakura latte and she loved it, esp because they have non dairy milk options (she opted for almond milk). 5/5 Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

* Shakerato - 3 stars ($5.75): A shaken iced latte. While the initial foam was impressive, it unfortunately disappeared quickly. I felt it needed a touch of sweetness, though they do offer sweeteners if you ask. * Blueberry muffin top with cream cheese - 3 stars ($4) - They bake in-house (unlike some of their other pastries, which are sourced from a local bakery). It was soft and fresh, but I was surprised it was served cold instead of warm or at room temperature.

Okay so this is the most cutest coffee shop you will ever go too! The name itself is already catchy. They are in kaimuki right across of the playground. They have Parking but I did find street parking right in front of the shop. The shop is super small but they do have seating right outside. It does get crowded because every seat was taken the time I was there, but I took my coffee to go. Now to the fun part. I wanted a popular drink that everyone would get from them and the worker gave me a suggestion to get the iced BB latte. I got it and do not regret because its signature taste is butterscotch. It's like those butterscotch candy you used to eat as a child but make it coffee. YUM!!! I loved it so much especially because they didn't make it too sweet. It still was strong with a hint of butterscotch. Super good. I recommend.

This is a triple vegan oat milk latte. I'm Italian and drink bialetti coffee at home. This is by far the best coffee on island and I've had a lot. Absolutely my favorite! Highly recommend!!

Very cute place tucked in between 7/11 and super pho. Inside has a really nice vibe. The baristas are very nice and helpful if you have any questions. I'm not an avid coffee consumer so I can't really speak on that. Came here to try their matcha and banana bread. Their nana bread always hits so it's one of my go to. This was the first time I tried their match and I was pleasantly surprised. Good matcha flavor and not too sweet.

Terrific coffee shoppe in a convenient location in central Kaimuki. My favorite is the banana bread with a delicious cup of coffee before my weekly bicycle ride. Nice thing about this place is you can sit at the parklets outside and enjoy your brew of choice. Support local, they support you! One of my favorite coffee shops in town. I was concerned that they would close down since this shop seemed to be an ever revolving coffee store but they seem to be holding on strong. The parking is frustrating sometimes and I often find myself dealing with someone who can't park. I have often driven out of my way to get coffee from here but since I moved closer, I'm glad that I can stop by here all the time! I usually get a soy latte and sometimes I'll get a cannelle. You rarely find stores in Hawaii that will sell cannelle's and even though these aren't as crunch as I would like or expect them to be, it's still very nostalgic and delicious. I also love their brie and fig baguette - I could seriously eat that all day. He puts big chunks of brie and the baguette is always toasted to perfection. I really hope this store stays here forever. read more

I ordered the Shakarato with vanilla and it was great!!!! The coffee was definitely better than some of the other coffee shops that are considered more popular. I came in around 11am and was out within 4 minutes. Highly recommend! read more

Great coffee & cute shop that I would frequent if I lived in Hawaii. I love Sightglass & Verve, so knew I could trust them for a good ol cold brew. Barista was super nice and helpful. They only had metal straws that were free (donations accepted), which I thought was interesting. I parked in a residential area and walked 2 blocks. read more

Perfection in Paradise! Ordered a latte and banana bread and couldn't be happier. True third wave coffee bar. Latte served warm, strong and on point. Banana bread was fresh and tasty. Pros: Location- right off of waialae! Perfect for if youre getting on the H1 E or H1 W, or coming into Kaimuki from Kahala. Parking- Theres a lot in the back or metered parking on Waialae. Customer Service- Friendly enough, will help you with a smile :) Always a plus in my book. Cons: Tiny space- no indoor seating, and whats available outdoors is really tight or always taken. I ordered the bread pudding thinking it would be warmed up, It wasnt. Who eats cold bread pudding? No option for sugar free other than drinking coffee black :( Wanted to love this place as much as other yelp reviewers have, but no luck for me. But I am happy to see that many others benefit from this establishment! read more

My hubby and I just randomly stopped here, and what a gem! They literally roast their own beans in this very shop, and the coffee is smooth! And our barista was so sweet! On recommendation from the guy in front of me, he let me try his shakarato with extra hazelnut, and it was delicious! I had to get one for myself, and I am in love! I wish Eugene OR had one of these!! We definitely plan to come back!! read more

Coffee was great but the baristas are loud and unwelcoming. It's not a peaceful place to have coffee. The employees need to take lessons in respect and cultural sensitivity. They lost my business, I do not recommend this place. In Hawai'i relationships are at the heart of community life, these folks are non-contributors. read more

For the price of the coffee$28 per bag proper packaging is the very minimum you could do guys. The service from the two women were amazing. However the guy was a bit nonchalant and pure lazy. As a small business owner i would never package a product without properly labeling it with a name of the product etc. it goes against labeling laws. Not only that how will your customers know what they are getting?? By the time we made it to the car my husband forgot the name of the coffee he tasted and purchased, we asked the guy inside he said look on their website... look and search for what? We don't know the name! There's only a name of the store on a sticker. We couldn't even order more if we wanted to we don't even know what we received. So sad. And the attitude when asking about the name is even more sadder, he liked the taste of the coffee only thing he felt jittery within 10mins and the service could've been better here. Unfortunately this isn't a place we would return to. On to the next coffee spot in Oahu !! read more

Have been frequenting here the past few months and always have a great experience. Quality of coffee, espresso and flavors are exceptional. Baristas are quick and friendly. Granted, it's a small shop but I normally take it to go so I don't have any comments on the size of the shop. My go-tos are the Shakarado (shaken iced latte) and cold brew. Both are amazing. And to top it off, they have a great rewards program on fivestars so you don't need to bring in a card, all you need to do is enter your phone number each time you visit. Will keep coming back! read more

We came here on a weekday morning. It's a cute little pocket with nice outdoor seating in the shade. The baristas are extremely friendly! We ordered an americano and matcha latte, and they generously gave me extra matcha! I'm a huge matcha fan, and this is definitely one of the best matcha lattes I've had in Oahu! read more

The most adorable little coffee shop with the most friendly staff. Upon entering, I was immediately welcomed and offered information when needed. I ordered a cappuccino with macadamia nut milk, and while there wasn't much foam (which they had explained there wouldn't be), the quality of the espresso was perfect. I asked if they sold stickers and although they were out, who I am assuming was the owner gave me a Bean About Town pin for free. The most kind man! After receiving my drink, I sat outside on a bench to read. About thirty minutes later, the man came out and gave me a glass of water. Overall, the service and attention to detail made it quite a magical experience. Perfect place to stop by or hangout, 10/10. read more

I'm gonna keep this short! I ordered the shakarato, which essentially is espresso, milk, and shaken to create a light foamy iced latte. It exceeded my expectations, thinking it would be too milky, creamy, and sweet. I only added in one shot of lavender and it was subtle and perfect. It was almost like a less sweeter version of Vietnamese coffee. It had the bitter, yet strong and smooth taste to it. I substituted my milk for macadamia milk and I'm a fan! I will be back for the amazing customer service, affordable prices & quality coffee. What a gem in Kaimuki! read more

My favorite coffee spot in Kaimuki! I love the freshness of the coffee and can literally taste the coffee beans. I like to get the half coconut, half Mac nut flavored iced latte, so good! I also add oat milk, cause my stomach acts up! Service is excellent and everyone is very friendly. I highly recommend! The owner seems very nice and easy going. We were staying at the Kahala Resort and I ran 5 miles to this coffee shop. And it was worth it for the cortado. The shop was small but sweet and the single barista was very kind. The whole shop can't be more than 150 ft.² but the coffee was great and the atmosphere pleasant. The experience delivered exactly what I expected when I left the resort that morning. Favorite coffee shop on the island. Prior to stopping by I was 0/4 with coffee on the island. All of the lattes I had tasted like watered down coffee. I was pleased when I had my latte here at Bean. The shop itself reminds me of ones back home (San Francisco). It is a small shop with limited seating, but great coffee and food options. Quick, friendly service as well. Next time I am back on the island, I'll be sure to grab coffee from here. read more

Fun, lively spot to grab espresso! I come here at least 4 days out of the week. The owner cares about his equipment as well as the proper training of the baristas. They roast coffee beans on site as well. Cute spot to pop in for a pastry, a perky barista and a coffee. read more

Wow. Outstanding coffee, the best I've had on island. The owner, Olivier, was so kind and told me all about the menu and why he serves his coffee the way he does. AND it's not Kona coffee (personally I can't stand)! Simply amazing quality and service. 10/10 would recommend and will be back soon. ~side note, he even offered a bowl of water for my pup who was tied up outside. He didn't have to do that, but he's just that kind of a person. So thank you, Olivier, I appreciate you. read more

Another cute coffee shop in Kaimuki ? Yasss ! This is a great location since theres a little customer lot (because no morning grump wants to look for parking just to get coffee). If you really care about your beans this is the place to check out ! They also serve pastries such as brownies, croissants, and canelés. The owner is nice French man who was more than happy to explain the menu. The only downside is that there is no inside seating and what looked like only a couple benches outside. read more

The only negative thing I can say about this cute coffee/pastry stop is that the straws suck. Paper straws= yuck! (I have a 2-year-old who bites the straw, I'm sure in a few years my hate for paper straws will end). This place has a special drink for kids, Love it! Coffee, pastries, service, all great! Even once bought a grilled cheese and it was perfect! Bean About Town is on my list of favorite coffee shops. read more

Saw a new coffee shop on yelp and wanted to check it out. A bit of a hole in the wall but very convenient if you are familiar with the area. Just find a quick spot on the street and you can run right in. All the mean choices for coffee hot or iced including a few of their own concoctions. Also some great pastries selections to choose from. I just went with an Americano as I was feeling like some hot coffee around lunchtime. Zero wait so walked right in and got a great cup. Very friendly staff and would not hesitate to come back given the chance. If you're in the area give them a try! read more

Best costumer service and cappuccino with oatmilk I've had in Hawaii. They use Oatly brand oatmilk with their hot drinks, which is very important for taste. All the staff were super friendly. I've been several times over the past 2 months and have had consistently good vibes with various staff. I rarely writes reviews, but I realize that it's hard to find the right espresso drink and great service when you're super picky. I was tempted not to write this because I don't want the place to become too crowded. Ugh... Well, a nutshell, this place is definitely (by far) the most legit place for a cappuccino in town. I love this little place. I came here a lot when it used to the the curb. I really like what the new owners have done with the place. Great little snacks like fig and brie on a toasted baugette, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Coffee is still top notch as well. Came in with my dog today and they were very friendly to her, and have a little water bowl out. Very zen little outdoor area to relax and drink your coffee. read more

Stopped by for a morning coffee, and ended up getting a yummy meal also! We parked in the back in the visitor stalls (a little tip since parking may seem a little crazy in Kaimuki). My partner ordered a cortado, and myself a cappuccino. Both were made to perfection, and the espresso tasted wonderful. The barista was helpful, pleasant, and took time to converse with us all while she was taking care of the orders she was making. We ordered the brie and fig on a baguette as well and it did not disappoint. The baguette was toasted nicely, and the ratio of Brie to fig in the sandwich was perfect. It even came with a side of a little veggie medley of some sorts, which was also tasty! Overall, we had such a good experience and will be coming more often! read more

I'm having a busy day today and don't have much time to stop for anything... I just left Bean Around Town and the lady behind the counter was simply a joy to meet, she was so welcoming, friendly, and most importantly - efficient. She got my cold brew and snack ready faster than any service I've had, in a while! A container with filtered straw was provided alongside a thermal carafe...there was enough hot water for 2.5 servings. The barista was a bit bemused when I ( humorously ) mentioned I swallowed some sediment from the straw...not being used to drinking yerba mate in this traditional way. I felt a little less of a gringo after that beverage. The main dining area is to the left. A nook to the back of the counter is a laptop/device free zone...and I sat in that hideaway...perused a book on interior design ( a few books are available) ...and enjoyed the yerba mate. Hours are from 700a till 500p - Mondays thru Thursdays. Fridays are 700a to 700p. Saturdays are 1000a - 700p. Sundays: 1000a until 500p.

The staff was friendly and quick with my order and even brought it to my table after ordering. I never felt rushed at all, and it was nice to have found a comfortable space to enjoy a nice cup during the rainy weather. I'll most certainly be coming back again next time I'm in the area.

I can't say enough about the incredible experience I had at this unique local coffee shop. What truly sets them apart is their genuine "aloha spirit," which I saw firsthand. My credit card declined when I went to pay for my matcha latte, and I was so embarrassed. But before I could even process it, one of the three baristas gave me a warm smile, said, "no worries," and paid for my drink on their own card, telling me to "pass it forward." I insisted on returning to pay, but upon my return, they wouldn't accept my money, insisting it was on the house. Their kindness and trust were so unexpected and deeply appreciated. Beyond that amazing aloha customer service, the coffee shop itself is a true gem. The matcha latte was absolutely delicious, and you could taste the quality. The place has a cool, boutique vibe, with a wonderful atmosphere that makes you want to stay a while. There is indoor, outdoor seating along with Wi-Fi access. This isn't just a place to grab a coffee; it's a place where you're treated with kindness and respect. The three Baristas named Mitsuko, Anna & Riley were all so lovely and perfectly embody what the aloha spirit is all about. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I give this establishment 5 stars for coffee, 1 for customer service, hence my 3 star review. Coffee is wonderful, great prices in store when purchasing beans. However, every time I have came by, I am always met by the same barista/cashier and every time I ask her a question it comes with a side of attitude. I don't remember ever ordering that. She serves up a lot of eye rolls and acts as if I'm bothering her. Her answers are always very condescending and know that I'm no coffee connoisseur, but I am trying to become more well versed in coffee, so I do ask questions about what I'm about to purchase. If there's no great answer to my questions than just say that! I won't be upset. What is upsetting is that I, too, work in the customer service industry and would never answer customers with an attitude because that's what we're there for. Even if someone asked a "dumb" question. I hate to post this kind of a review but this has happened on several different occasions. Next time I suppose I'll do my research before coming in. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out since we both really enjoy coffee. We ordered a shakarato, Kenya pourover, and an ahi sandwich and everything was super good!! The ahi sandwich was full of flavor and the shakarato was a nice sweet coffee to go with it (I added vanilla syrup to it).
