There's nothing like sitting around having pastries and latte, on a relaxing afternoon, with good company. We took over two high tops and some bar stools on Thursday afternoon. The latte was smooth and tasty but not the strongest. I usually need something a little stronger but this got the job done. It still gave us plenty of energy to do some bar hopping and have a small dinner. Enjoyed this iced haupia latte with oat milk, definitely nice pick-up drink in the morning. Much less sweet than other lattes like orange blossom, which was too sweet for my taste. Also ordered a blueberry scone, in my opinion, one of best scones in Oahu. Fresh and soft bites with a lot of blueberries as it wasn't too dry like other scones. Visited Talk Kaimuki today after a pedicure to order my regular- Iced, Nutella latte with Oatmilk. I told myself to order something new, but if you know me, I go with what I like most days. The Nutella latte hits the spot if you need a pick-me-up on a busy day. Some things to keep in mind: -this area can get really busy and parking is a nightmare during lunch hours (11:30-1:30pm). All spots are also metered parking so be prepared. With a credit card or change! The ambiance in Talk Kaimuki is a chill and relaxed. This is an area where lots of college students frequent so there is a hipster vibe. My experience at Talk Kaimuki today deserves a 5-star. As soon as I entered, the staff was eager to take care of me. The woman who helped me was efficient, kind and skilled. Her iced latte was incredibly crafted. (The reason for the 1-star deduction has to do entirely with my other experience here. There was an employee who was condescending and rude when I asked a question.) The restrooms are clean. Talk offers free WiFi. There's parking nearby. Came here on a Monday morning around 9 am, and it was busy and nearly full. Clearly a popular place and for a good reason. Specialty lattes here are superb. I highly recommend the iced haupia latte with oat milk, which was delicious and refreshing on a warm sunny day. The orange blossom latte (iced with oat milk) was also fantastic. It was a bit sweeter than the haupia latte but not overly so. Blueberry scone is really good too--very fresh and moist inside, nicely crispy exterior, and lots of blueberries. Customer service was quick and friendly, and the staff had great recommendations for their pastries. I ordered a café mocha and the Lilikoi Mango Sticky Rice scone--which completely surprised me because I normally don't care for sticky rice desserts, but this one was fantastic. I stopped by on a busy Saturday morning, and even with the crowd, the baristas were swift and attentive. Sorry to say I live close by and haven't been here in a long time and is the first time here for cocktails! I'm so happy I did. Love what they did with the place and the way they do things. The evening had a great vibe. The night we came we sat next to a couple that met exactly a year ago celebrating that they met at Talk Kaimuki and their relationship is still going. Bartenders are great not in just making their cocktails but personable and friendly. Their ideas as mixologists are amazing to watch. My friends and I were able to see how they were testing recipes .its nice to see the artistry as a mixologists. As someone who is not much a drinker, (I was this night), to see the process. The drink were delicious and unique flavors. What I really love are the different glasses. I'm all about crockery and loved the different styles. It adds to the drinks for me. This experience is based purely off of customer service. I came here on Monday at 6:30 am. After putting in my order, an elderly female barista had asked me a question which I did not hear clearly. When I asked for clarification she proceeded to wave her hands and speak in a very condescending tone repeating her question. The time as I had mentioned was 6:30 am, there was 2 customers behind in me in line about 4 or 5 customers in the store. Had it been busier I may have understood that there is extra stressors involved. However being that it was empty and again 6:30 am, it made the whole experience first thing in the morning uncomfortable as I had genuinely not understood her question. I informed her that she did not have to be rude, and her tone changed however there was still underline hostility when she asked if I needed anything else. Coming from an immigrant family, with english being a second language at home, it was quite upsetting and borderline discriminatory. I am sharing this feedback because I would hate for another customer to feel dismissed or uncomfortable for simply asking for clarification and receiving such a negative response. I will say that besides the poor customer service that morning, it is a good study spot and they have a wide selection of coffees. As someone who cares where I am spending my hard earned money, I would say that other study spots with good coffee/drinks would be the curb or daily whisk matcha. read more

A staple coffee shop in Kaimuki that turns into a cocktail bar at night. The space is laid out with the coffee bar and ordering counter in the center with seating on both sides. There is a good amount of indoor seating with different nooks for people to sit in. There is a good variety of coffees -- the Thai Nitro was good! The pastries are good -- especially the cinnamon rolls and I have also heard that the quiches are worth a try. The baristas are sweet and quick as well. At night, the cocktail bar is pretty self-directed as you pick up your clipboard menu and grab bottles of water on your own before heading to your table. Then, you order off your menu. We got a Sneaky Smash, Ode to Oaxaca, Curry Lemonade, and some sort of lemon non-alcoholic drink. The Curry Lemonade was different and did taste like drinking curry, if that is what you are looking for. The other drinks were enjoyed by the table, especially the lemon drink -- sweet and syrup-y. We came here to get a caffeine fix, and we regretted instantly in giving this place a try - Don't fall for their signages, since it's all false advertisement - their so-called 'Specialty Drinks' are all lies! I tried their Nitro, which was described as it being 'rich and creamy' - there was no richness or creaminess in this drink - it was bitter, watered down, and it had an off taste to it, as if they added some weird unfiltered water. With half of a sip, this was tossed. There seemed to be only one staff member on site, preparing the drinks; we come to find out that she is supposedly a 'longtime beloved employee' named Di - not sure who these individuals are, but she was passive aggressive and made us feel unwelcomed and uncomfortable. The place itself is spacious, but dimly lit; the surfaces of the tables were not wiped down properly, as it was grimy/sticky. In addition, there was a pungent odor coming from somewhere, so not sure if they have a sewage problem or something. Apparently, this place transitions into serving cocktails at 4 PM. Such a poor experience, and, unfortunately, I can't and will not support this so-called local business. I expect them to ask if I wanted it hot or cold, It's weird to have some point to a self serve microwave in the dining room when ordering food. The chocolate croissant was overcooked and dry. This is a cute cafe in the Kaimuki area. It's right on the corner of Waialae and 12th Ave, and the interior of the shop is super bright and cute with hanging lights and string lights everywhere. There's lots of seating inside, but I wasn't able to find any when I visited during their busier times on a weekend morning. This place has been around for years and part of the Kaimuki neighborhood. I have always known it as the corner coffee shop with the hipster vibe. There seems to always have ample seating and you see people working, studying or chatting. It's a nice place to meet up with friends to casually catch up. It was my first time visiting the place! I liked the interior design and the separate area where you could drink the coffee. Pretty spacious. I tried their Thai nitro and black sesame chocolate muffin. I also tried a sip of honey latte my friend ordered. The drinks were pretty good. As always, the food and coffee are still excellent and the service is not just terrific. It's personal and helpful. One change for the better is the fact that seating is a bit more comfortable.
