Consistently great drinks and super chill place to hang out. Devin and his team always do a great job. I love the hot drinks because the latte art is beautiful! But for iced I always opt for the lavender or pandan matcha. The pandan is also sourced from a personal garden! Super fresh! I also always try to pop in when Hana Quon brings in her famous baked goods - it's the perfect compliment for Curb's delicious drinks!

I was in need of coffee. I had just picked up a chocolate croissant from The Local General, and coffee would be great. When I arrived there was a sign that said the coffee bar was closed. He: The wine bar is open... Why not? I ordered a glass of the bubbly. I didn't catch the name but it was light with a slight citrus finish. It was really good! The bartender was very sweet. She said she really liked this sparkling wine too. Okay, I had three glasses....LOL! But it went very well with my chocolate croissant. I was able to get some work done, and the space has a different vibe from the morning. So if you get here and you can't get coffee...the wine bar is open...

Love this place!!! Love the clean lines and relaxed vibes here We ordered the pandan latte, almond croissant, and the passion fruit pie. I would definitely try the passionfruit pie since it has this nice balance of tangy, lightly sweet, creamy with a nice crust. Almond croissant is so delicious as well!! It has a nice all around flavor to it Staff is awesome here too!! Cheers!

I'm not sure how they do it but tea lovers, this is the spot to select. The baristas handle the steep so you don't have to worry about tea bags and it is the perfect amount and mouthfeel. This place was once my go to spot for ice matcha-canos. If you're a matcha lover, the lattes are fun too but the canos give you a chance to taste and appreciate their quality matcha pick. Don't sleep on the tea at The Clurb.

Traditional scones...drier than some bakeries/cafes...and that is fine with me. Blueberry scone is excellent. I got a Flat White...also, very good.

Came here for a quick coffee break after lunch but didn't get a picture of the coffee, instead got a picture of the wines on the wall lmao. great service, menu looked abundant and scrumptious. Fair value as well, cheaper and tastier than chainbucks, support local as well too. will come to grab a coffee again when in the area!

FAVORITE COFFEE AND BAKE SHOP ON OAHU! If I lived in Kaimuki rather than the Westside, I would be flat out broke and overweight lol! To be honest, Oahu has a plenty of great coffee options, some which roast their own coffee. Yet The Curb is somehow the only shop I know on island that focuses on the coffee AND the pastries. I love this place so much that whenever I have a random weekday off, as long as I don't have any morning appointment, I make the drive here. The pastries are why I bypass many other coffee shops for The Curb...and I live on the Westside! I make the trip from the Westside to Kaimuki just for The Curb, even if I have to circle around the block for free street parking, even if the seating area availability is hit or miss. Yes, I'd rather save money for high quality pastries than on parking lol. The main drawback about having to drive from the Westside to Kaimuki on my day off is by the time I arrive after sleeping in and waiting out morning traffic, most special pastries are already sold out. Even with what remains, I've never been disappointed in any pastry. I always prepare to ask for my order "to go," but if a seat opens up, bonus! Chocolate croissant? Bomb. Wild blueberries and cream cheese danish? Bomb. Pasteis de nata (Portuguese egg tart)? Bomb. Walnut financier? Bomb. Canele? Bomb. Black sesame Rice Krispie Treat? Bomb. Crispy brown butter chocolate chip cookie? Bomb! I have an idea...maybe my husband should just buy me pastries from here instead of a personal birthday cake. Jk...or am I? I definitely did treat myself to some of the remaining pastries on my birthday earlier this year. When I'm at a good coffee shop, I would love a great pastry to go with it. When I'm at a good bake shop, I'm hoping for good coffee on the side. The Curb somehow achieves both! My review may lead to even more customers taking up seating and more pastries selling out, but oh well. Can't gate-keep such a great business!

@fortunefoodfinds: "Girls just wanna have PAN(dan)! A Pandan Matcha Latte from the CURB KA*IMU*Kī. An iced drink that's satisfying n' has a uniqueness worth trying!" Staff: fully staffed Interior: seating available, products on the side for purchase Exterior: on the corner Wait time: 5-10 mins Parking: metered street or small lot in the back Overall comments: cute n' hip spot. The last time I was here I had less kids, so we were able to utilize the seating area. On this visit, we decided to just order drinks to-go since the place was poppin'. I enjoyed their pandan matcha latte n' would get it again!

This coffee shop was recommended by a friend so we made sure to stop by before we left the island! It was a popular little spot, they have tables inside but we barely snagged the last one while we waited for our drinks! I ordered the Pandan Matcha and my husband got The George - both drinks were perfect for each of us. The Pandan Matcha was fragrant and the macadamia nut milk gave it extra flavor. The George was a stronger coffee flavor and the shaken aspect made it very smooth! Not a very lengthy menu of options here but you can tell they focus on quality. Their customer service was great, still had a smile despite the long lines, and I love their cute cups!

Seems to be a popular coffee spot given the crowd we saw on a rainy Wednesday morning - the line was out the door. The decaf mocha was pretty good but the banana bread was quite underwhelming especially for a cafe in Hawaii?!! The cheddar chive scone was delicious although I'd have preferred it warmed up. Overall, it's definitely a solid coffee spot where you can spend some time working/chilling (if you manage to find a table lol)

Can customers sit down inside?

Not at the moment. They used to have seating but it's currently still take out only.

Is there free parking?

Yes

Is The Curb shutting down for good? Or are they planning to open up another location? I noticed they closed their Kailua location too.

Nope, their soft (re)opening on 3408 Waialae Ave. was on Friday, 2/9/2018! They expect a grand opening in the near future. You can follow their Facebook page for more frequent updates.

They only serve natural wines, which made everything feel really intentional and thoughtfully chosen. We had a Pinot Noir, a super funky orange wine that was honestly really cool to try, and Coenobium -- a beautiful white wine made by nuns. At one point, a bottle of red wine was opened and poured as a little salute for the room -- a simple, unexpected moment that was really wholesome. For food, we shared the venison pâté with bread and a Caprese salad -- simple, but done so well and paired perfectly with everything. It wasn't just about what we had, but how the whole experience came together. There's something really special about what they're creating there. We are already planning our next visit!

The staff is so sweet and accommodating and make excellent recommendations based on their understanding of their wines and your palate. Will definitely be back as they routinely add new wines to the menu throughout the month. The food menu is limited especially if you aren't a big meat eater but there's something for everyone. Low intervention and organic wines with such great range from light and bubbly to heavy with tons of body. Come for the wine and make friends with the staff and others around the bar. The setting is intimate so get comfy.

I've never had any of their "real" food outside of the charcuterie, so that just gives me a reason to come back some time and try. After you're finished at the bar, you're conveniently located in a cool grocery store with a ton of snack options and fine foods, so kind of a two birds with one stone! Quite a bit of parties around us were partaking in this. Though a friend of mine didn't want to drink a whole bottle by herself, she tried a glass of Rosé from France which she stated was very delicious. I on the other hand had asked for a non-alcoholic option. Unfortunately, they ran out of ginger beer, all the sparkler options, and didn't serve any soda. The bartender looked pretty irritated by that point, and didn't even provide me with a glass of water. We would've grabbed a bunch of food to compensate for taking up a seat, but by then, the bartender had already dropped the check, and we hadn't even sat there for more than 5 minutes. The most interesting part was that an older couple sat next to us, similar situation. The gentleman asked for a glass of wine, and his wife asked for a non-alcoholic beverage. Though a different bartender came back with a sparkler option for her. Needless to say, I felt pushed aside and I don't believe I'll be back to this location any time soon. The only reason I didn't give this review a 1-2 star is that I recognize that Abe is busting his butt there. He was floating back and forth between this bar and Eleven. Separate review with my direct encounter with Abe at Eleven forthcoming.

I've been wanting to try Mud Hen Water for the longest time and i'm so glad I did -- especially if you appreciate locally sourced ingredients and creative dishes that still feel comforting and approachable, I would definitely recommend. Parking can be a little limited since they only have a small lot, but we had a 6:30 reservation and were lucky enough to snag one of the parking stalls. If the lot happens to be full, though, there's still nearby street parking within walking distance. The restaurant itself has a really warm and intimate feel. Each indoor table comfortably seats around six people, so for parties slightly larger than that, the staff recommended either the high bar-style seating inside or outdoor seating. The outdoor area is actually really cute and would be perfect on a nice evening. What stood out to me initially was how attentive they were about allergies and dietary restrictions. Our waitress asked right away if anyone had allergies, intolerances, or specific diets, which honestly has never really happened to me at a restaurant that I can remember. We had two people in our party with tree nut allergies, so that extra level of care was really appreciated and made everyone feel more comfortable dining there. Since we had a group of eight, we decided to do everything family style, which I highly recommend. ** (There is an option to do family style on the menu which is $65 per person.) However, my family did not do that, despite not choosing that option we still left perfectly content. My family likes to eat to 80-85% fullness so it was just the right amount. Doing it this way really allowed us to try a good variety of the menu, and every dish that came out was genuinely good. Nothing felt overly heavy despite trying so many different things, and you could really taste the quality of the ingredients. They also brought out a complimentary eggplant purée with crackers for the table to try, which was such a thoughtful touch and a nice way to start the meal. We ordered the country bread, which had been recommended to us when we ordered the sausage and clams. It was warm, perfectly buttered, and really good overall, even though ours came out slightly more charred than expected. The one dish that didn't fully live up to the hype for us was the chicken long rice croquettes. I had seen them frequent in most reviews, so maybe my expectations were a little too high, but personally it ended up being the most underwhelming dish of the night. They got cold pretty quickly and ended up tasting a little dry. I'd probably rate them around a 6/10 -- not bad by any means, but also something we could have done without compared to the other dishes we ordered. One thing I would like to mention is that the water service could have been a little more attentive. It wasn't necessarily because the restaurant was busy, but more so that our table did need a bit more check-in throughout the meal. We are very much an only water family. We asked a few different times for water refills during the course of dinner and only ended up getting them once we were already getting ready to leave. That being said, the food itself absolutely makes this place worth visiting. For eight people, our total came out to just under $350 before tip. Still, for the quality of the food, atmosphere, and overall experience, I'd happily come back again.
