A couple of my friends and I ended up here. One of them works at a Starbucks in Target, so this was an interesting diversion. It was a bit crowded and it took extra time for us to place an order. I got a Medium Iced Mocha Latte, and I don't really remember what the other two got. Apparently, they use Square as their Point of Sale equipment, rather than a traditional cash register. It worked well. We argued a bit over who would pay. I lost, and someone else paid. We sat at a tall table and it seemed to be clean. The drinks were ready in less time than the time we waited to place the order. My drink was a reasonable size, and the amount of ice was bearable. (Show me a coffee or tea place that doesn't profit from ice.) The mocha flavor was smooth--perhaps, it's better to say that there wasn't any gritty substance making the mocha more natural. Sometimes, single shops tend to have unique solutions, rather than use bottles with flavored sauce. It's a good place and the service was friendly. Normally, if I'm in the shopping center, I'd just go to Raley's for Peets and I would probably continue to do that, since they also have a sandwich maker and a lot of ingredients. This review is long overdue! My husband and I have been going to Bean and Leaf for a while now and every salad or sandwich or drink we have gotten is so good. The hummus plate with house made bagel chips is great!! The salad dressings are made in house too, and really make the salads even better. The flavored cream cheeses are great. My favorite sandwich is the tomato and mozzarella sandwich, with balsamic on the side! The staff is so friendly and helpful with suggestions. Definitely make a stop at this local small business. This little cafe is a hidden gem! I found this place by sheer coincidence. I was in the area and was looking for a healthy salad so I yelped "salads" and this place showed up. Located in a small strip mall and convenient to find. They have delicious salads, sandwiches and the best dirty chai evvvver! They actually make their own chai from scratch and you can tell because it's quite amazing! I don't live in Manteca but I will go out of my way for their dirty chai and salad! Visited in early October on a Sunday around 8:00 AM. Doors were open and employees were friendly. Fretted me as a walked in. Outdoor seating and indoor seating. Lots of specialty cold and hot coffees along with the traditional flavors. Lots of food options! Hummus plate(they make the hummus) , bagels, muffins, hot or cold sandwiches. In case this matters, customers walked in without masks and were not harassed to put them on. Love spending money at business that are allowing this freedom still. Just my opinion. I walked in, they were busy, but I asked for a cubano that's not on the menu. They looked it up and I quote " were not doing that" wow, how about we're sorry sir but we don't make those? I said ok how about a regular latte? I'm sorry but it wasn't great. Two shots of espresso and it tasted like weak coffee with hot milk. I'm a coffee connoisseur. I'm guessing he only put in one shot instead of two. Go to preservation in Modesto. They do a cubano called a BFH. So far, it's the best cup of coffee I've found in the valley. It's kind of a hipster place with minimal food but I'm not there for the food. Im there for an excellent cup of coffee from a coffee house. As for this Manteca business with an attitude and a cup of coffee I poured out, I'll never darken this doorway again. I'm lucky I live in Escalon and preservation is about the same distance from my house. Also, I'm from the Bay Area. I definitely know coffee. Now I have a beard and I walked in with a vest on. So tasty! The coffee was amazing for my taste buds. I had a white chocolate mocha, double shot, with almond milk. Balance of coffee and flavor was just right The hummus plate was to die for! So, it has been a few months since I've been here, and I've been meaning to write my review. I would have done it right after my experience, but wanted to wait because I was so annoyed at one primary factor that would have outshined the great parts of my experience at Bean and Leaf. First, one of my customers had heard that they had good food, and they had never tried it, so I figured I would order a number of things. I ordered a variety of sandwiches and salads as you will see from my receipt that I am attaching... Everything I tried was fresh and delicious, and the staff concurred. Cute eclectic feel to the restaurant, the gals who put the order together were both friendly. I definitely wanted to come back and dine-in next time. Here is my issue. If you make a Take Out order for more than 4 items, you will have a Automatic 15% Gratuity charged to your bill. I order business lunches/dinners from some of the nicest restaurants, 5 Star, Zagat-rated establishments that don't REQUIRE, or AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE a gratuity of any kind. Especially if I'm ordering a lot of food. In fact, I often get a discount (which by the way, I never expect, but am often offered to increase patronage of various restaurants) I imagine I'm being billed the Mandatory Gratuity so that they can place the food in To-Go Containers? I'm curious if customers eat there, shouldn't they automatically be charged a gratuity, since they are making the staff clean up after them? So, I guess in future, when I want to order 12 TO-GO items, I will place 4 orders that have 3 items each. Billed separately will equal no gratuity. :) read more

This is my second time here... An the only reason I don't throw in the 5th star is because I think it's a little overpriced. The Zebra Mocha Frappe is awesome... Especially when they throw in the espresso chip ice cream. Today they were out so she put in vanilla and chocolate ice cream and added espresso beans... Equally as good. I've had the house salad, which is not your average style, as it's served with apples an pecans. The chicken is nice and juicy and all around a well balanced flavor. The hummus plate was not what I expected. I thought I'd be getting everything in sections: hummus, pepperoncinis, tomato, cucumber... But I came all piled on top of one. (I don't do olives.) The hummus concoction in combination with the pita bread and delicious bagel chips... I'm hooked. While I wish this place was cheaper, I will continue to return! read more

We had a break in between softball games and we wanted something light to hold us over until lunch and Bean & Leaf was the perfect café for just that. My daughters both ordered a delicious strawberry and banana smoothie. They make the smoothies with half and half so it taste more like a fresh milkshake, rather than a smoothie. It was yummy! I ordered a bagel egg sandwich with avocado. I appreciated that they weren't skimpy on the avocado. I ordered this on the everything bagel. Bagel shops everything bagel is a little different anywhere you go, however, it tasted like Bean & Leaf has a bit more pumpernickel seeds than usual. My favorite was probably my husbands bagel. He ordered a toasted parmesan bagel with jalapeno cream cheese, it was dreamy. The tables are cute. They look custom with trays of coffee beans inside for added interest. My favorite spot in the area for a quick meal pick up and/or to meet up with a friend to chat. and drink. I have been coming here for years, whether it's for a breakfast sandwich on a croissant, their yummy oatmeal, the fruit/granola yogurt bowl, chicken salad sandwich, or a smoothie/coffee. Customer service is good. Their staff are always nice and welcoming, and the setup is perfect whether eating alone or with 3-4 others as long as it's not during the rush. I am fairly new to working in Manteca and have had little luck finding many healthy lunch options. Today I searched for salad and Bean & Leaf Cafe was the first to pop up on my search. I am so grateful it did! The staff was very pleasant and even accommodated me with a small side of hummus and pita when I asked if they had such an item (they have a hummus plate but there's no way I could eat that and the Greek salad I ordered). I ordered an iced chai and it comes with whipped cream and cinnamon dusted on top, YUM! My first bite of food was their house made pita chips. I could eat a whole to-go container of these tasty little bites! Perfect amount of rosemary and salt. Their Greek salad is the perfect size and all the toppings are proportional to lettuce. I went here for the first time to treat myself to lunch for my birthday. It's a cute cafe and the cashier was friendly. I ordered a BLT, the hummus plate and a chai tea. It wasn't that busy but it took a little long to get my order. I got it to go and went home to enjoy my meal. The hummus was delicious and the bagel chips WERE OUTSTANDING!!! The BLT was also very good BUT the Chai Tea was not good AT ALL. Too much of a certain spice which overpowered the entire thing. Unsure why this place had such a high rating. Maybe it's just because I work at a really great sandwich shop (part of me KNEW i shouldn't order a sandwich because I would just compare the two) I ordered the fresh mozzarella sandwich (subbed the chips for a small green salad which was just greens, tomato & cucumber for $2.50) & it was incredibly disaapointing.. ALSO the fact that they charge more for a medium americano than a small when they both only have one Espresso shot means they're literlly just charging you extra for a more watered down drink. So I'm the difficult customer who asks a million questions about a million items and makes a million requests. But the one request I forgot to make while ordering a latte at Bean & Leaf was for non-dairy milk. So after taking one sip and realizing my grave mistake (I was on a road trip with my girlfriend and we had 3 more hours to go) I went back and ordered another drink fully expecting to pay for it given that it was my mistake -but nope. The employees wouldn't have it. The barista (Caden) immediately made me a new drink without charging me a cent.
