We came on a hot summer day and the only thing was that most of the indoor range is not temperature controlled, no AC (only in the bathrooms did I feel the AC), no fan that's for use on the open side of the range. I probably could have gone and asked if we could turn on the fan on the closed half of the range but the employees were extremely busy with their customers on getting their compound bow ready for hunting season. I'd probably come back again when the weather cools down if I want to practice on a Sunday... overall a great spot but trying to stay cooler and not overheat during the Summer.

My son was told that he needed a bow of his own from Chris Dorow who started to talk to him about a building a new bow. At first we were told the bow would cost around $1,500.00. Soon that was up around $2,500.00. It slowly inched up in price. By the time my son was handed the bow, it was over $4,000.00. I had some reservation about the fact that it kept increasing and not to mention, my son was headed off to college. Chris decided to stop by my house and discuss the bow. He assured me that if my son didn't use the bow, he would buy it back...especially since it was a top of the line bow! He also assured me that he would start archery classes at CU where my son was going to attend school in a couple months. After my son's first year at college, he realized that he did not have time to use the bow and contacted Chris for a refund. The bow was used less than 5 draws.... Chris ignored the texts and emails my son sent him and only responded when I asked if he received my son's messages. Chris stated he only gives a 90-day money back guarantee. Please let me say that he sat in my dining room, looked me in the eyes and told me that if the bow didn't work out, he would buy it back. Never once did he state anything about a 90-day guarantee. He also neglected to contact my son about any archery classes while he was at CU. Chris has told me that he would get back to me to talk about this issue and has still not contacted me. He appears to not want to work with me to come to some agreement either. Please do yourself a favor and get ANY promise from him in writing.

SAFE: I see people out in this park coming from the local stores, riding a bike or walking their dogs at 2;00AM often, becuz Aspen and I are often out in the fresh air. What this park offers: A nice walk in the early morning, called the ART WALK, circumventing the entire park, around the skate/bike area, circling the Civic Center and Police department, up past the Pavilion, returning to either parking lot. There are extensive Jungle gym play areas for the kiddos, ball Park, Volley Ball net over sand, several large green pasture areas with rolling hills to play ball with your dog, "Keep your Leach and doggy bags ready!!" AND, there are two Pavilion areas, one with an outdoor grill, bring your own charcoal. Smaller area for gatherings of choice, no reservations necessary, or check with the Civic Center at 1800 North Harlan Street at the front desk. This is a Lakewood City Park. Some people love their dogs to play, others, just keep walking with a leach attached to your dog This is a dog town, possibly more than kids, small - quaint, if you might react to the Skunk weed, bring a mask, at times the area air is a bit Skunky.... Great workout in the early morning or the cool of the night, as I stated, at 2-3AM people are out in the quiet of the night, full view of the Stars and Moon. Walker Branch Park is NOT an off leash dog park, yet most are friendly and many meet up for dogs to have some fun and freedom Aspen loves the early morning "Orange Ball Play" and sometimes we meet up with another doggy for a doggy romp as we leave for Arvada where there are plenty of "Off Leash Dog Parks!" There's even an area for volleyball and a roller hockey rink. However, what makes this place unique is the fact that there's a skate park in the middle of it! I can barely stand on a skateboard, let alone do a trick on one, but I still think it's pretty cool that this exists. It's not anything too crazy but it seems like it would be a lot of fun. I walk my dog around here sometimes and it's always entertaining to watch people skating around.

The main parking lot was full when we arrived, but the overflow parking was surprisingly easy. There was someone at the entrance directing cars, handing out the shuttle address, and answering questions. The free shuttle arrived within minutes, had air conditioning, and dropped us off right at the lake. The atmosphere is what makes this place special. It's clean, family-friendly, and surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. You can bring your own kayak, paddleboard, canoe, or other non-motorized watercraft, or rent one there. Life jackets are required and rentals have time limits, but everything was well organized. The water was a little browner than I expected, with some natural tree limbs and debris floating around, and swimming isn't allowed. That said, it didn't take away from the experience. Most people were fishing, paddling around with friends, or simply floating and soaking in the views. If you're looking for a peaceful way to spend an afternoon outdoors, this is a great spot. I had a really good time and will definitely be back.
