They have gorgeous spots right on the river and I could hear the river as I slept and it was so soothing!! The owners are wonderful people and really want campers to enjoy every aspect of their stay. They came out when we came in to help us back camper in our spot. It's very close to town like 5 min drive but felt out in country. Our spot had a picnic table and fire pit. They have a pretty good size bath house with vending machines and at as use washers and dryers which would be good for long stays! Shower stalls were individual bathrooms for privacy .. updated and very clean. We came before Halloween and it had decor for the holiday.. you could stay in camper, they had cabins, and tepees for unique stay. Most were damaged by storm but will be ready for following year. I thought that was really interesting.. i read reviews from previous years about wifi being terrible but we didn't have that issue. We didn't really spend all day at campground we came to see and spend time in the area so we were only using wifi at night and in morning with coffee. I would highly recommend this campground.. it was a great stay and I hated to leave.

We were just passing back through Bryson City over the Fourth of July weekend after camping all week. We stopped to do laundry and figured we'd see if anyone had a campsite available. Another campground recommended we call Kirkland's, and we're so glad they did. Jason was one of the most welcoming and accommodating campground hosts we've ever met. He returned our call quickly, let us know he had a few sites available on a first-come, first-served basis, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We weren't able to get a creekside site because we booked last minute, but honestly, that didn't matter. You can hear the beautiful creek throughout the campground, and the peaceful atmosphere is exactly what we had been looking for. One of the things we loved most was the location. It truly feels like you've driven 30 minutes into the mountains, away from everything, when in reality you're only about 12-15 minutes from downtown Bryson City, the grocery stores, and the local produce stand. It was the perfect balance of convenience and seclusion. The campground is spotless, with clean bathhouses, laundry facilities, water and electric hookups, firewood, ice, and even a trout pond where you can fish. The sites felt private despite the campground's cozy size, and the mountain views peeking through the trees made it even more special. Jason was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and gave us fantastic recommendations, including where to enjoy a safe and relaxing tubing trip. That local advice made a huge difference in our visit. We also loved meeting the campground's sweet dog and friendly cat--they added even more charm to an already wonderful place. If you're looking for a campground that's quiet, peaceful, welcoming, and genuinely cared for, this is it. We left feeling like we'd found a home away from home. Whenever we return to Bryson City, Kirkland's Creek Campground will be our first call. Thank you, Jason, for your incredible hospitality. We can't wait to come back!

This place is tucked away nicely, yet only a 10-12 min drive to downtown Bryson City. The campground is very well maintained by the owners Jason and Alison. And they are the hosts extraordinaire! The creek is beautiful, and falling asleep to the sound of the water was a highlight. The staff was accommodating and allowed us to switch to an RV site so we could park next to our tent, which we appreciated. Looking back, I wish we'd asked more questions because the covered tent sites looked much more private and would have been a better fit for us. This is a great campground for families, groups, and anyone wanting to enjoy tubing. The bathhouses were clean, and the camp store had everything we could have needed. The tubing was a lot of fun, though the creek is shallow and rocky in places, so expect a few bumps along the way! If you're looking for a lively campground with plenty of activities, I highly recommend it. If your goal is total peace and seclusion, you may want to look at some of the quieter campgrounds nearby. Overall, we had a great stay and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the Bryson City area.

Had a great time and loved that I fell out a couple of times and could not stop laughing! Need to know that for parking you need a card no cash. Only $6 to tube all day. Would have liked someone helping tie the tubes to the top of the car but we managed. If you are with people I suggest getting a cable to connect together because you will get seperated and a paddle or stick to get unstuck or move in different directions is a good idea. They have large bathrooms to change in also. Lots of places to just hang out on the side or side of the water to relax. The waterfall was a beautiful place to stop and relax.

DEEP CREEK TUBE RENTAL operates out of the general store for Smoky Mountain Campground. It is the…read morelast tube rental opportunity on the right side of Deep Creek Road before it enters into the park. This became our first adventure of a week long vacation as we stopped here during the drive to our destination. We checked with several of the nearby tube rental businesses and decided on this one not only because of their location, but also because they did not charge us to use the life vests required for anyone under 13 years old. Other places either charged an additional fee or wanted a deposit. The staff was friendly and I even had a little sports banter with the owner, who had a God-awful Alabama hat on... Go GA Bulldogs!!! LOL But where they earned 5-stars was because of their honest dealings . We visited two days after heavy rain had swollen the river. While the overall volume was significantly down, it was still fairly swift. This caused a few traumatic moments as three adults had to fish three kids (6,7,8) out of the creek in fast moving current once they reached the take-out point near the bridge. This of course was not the rental companies fault, BUT it would have been useful to know the best places to exit the water. Some sort of map or signage along the creek would have been extremely helpful. Exiting the creek was so difficult by the bridge that safety for the youngest became an alarming issue and two rafts (and a pair of shoes) were lost in the battle between holding on to the kids or holding on to the rafts. At checkout the owners charged us about $55 per raft, but told us they would refund the money IF the rafts were found by the end of the day. They were indeed found and the owners not only texted us the same day, but had the money in our account before weeks end. I TRULY appreciate the honesty because we would have been none the wiser! [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Aside from the difficulty exiting the creek, they also had a wipeout on a bottleneck rapid further upstream that really traumatized the youngest of our group. I didn't think the poor kid would ever go in water again, but luckily a few hugs and a slice of pizza brought him back from a dark place. So for families with kids single digit in age, I'd recommend putting your rafts in at Tom's Creek Falls when volume is up (and not the one near Indian Creek) which avoids the more challenging area for tubers. In retrospect I would have dropped my crew at the trailhead and driven back to the General Store and waited to help them exit there. It would have given them a longer ride in the river. Still, it did make for a lively story during the remainder of our vacation! It's amazing how little boys go from scared and crying in the moment to superhero's who called on their Aquaman powers when retelling the tale days later! LOL PS - The tube rentals are ALL DAY until closing (7pm). Cost was $8/tube with a dollar off coupon for checking-in on yelp. BE SAFE and enjoy! 2022 / 93
