My name is Eric. I am the owner of a local plumbing and heating company in South Lake Tahoe,Ca.
I have to share this story.
I like the Bear League intensely, and love what they do. This is just a true story that just happened to me this morning.
On 12/09, a customer of mine called me and said there is a bear under his house, and bear league was due to come out 12/10 at 2:30pm to get the bear out and install an electric fence over the access hole. They sent out a guy named Tom. I didn't meet him but apparently he looked under the house with the flashlight and gave it the all clear. Then their contractor came over and screwed the access hole closed and put up the electric fence.
My customer wanted me to go back to the job and check for any duct and plumbing damage due to the bear.
Under assumption the "Bear League" did their job, today, 12/17/14, I disassembled the electric fence, and unscrewed the door. I went on in. My golden retriever, oddly followed me in, and I was half way to my hose bib replacement, about 10 feet, when I heard an enormous roar. I looked to my right with my headlight on, and I saw only a huge dust cloud and two green eyes about 10"-12" apart. My dog darted out from the access hole and I threw my tool tray about 10 feet from the access hole on my way out!!
The "Bear League" guy Tom did not do his job correctly. From the access hole you can only see 3 sides of the sub area. The bear was in the back, hidden corner. He did not crawl and correctly verify the bear was gone.
Instead, Tom, lazily did his job, and successfully locked the bear under the house for 7 days without food or water. Good job and thank you Tom!!!! I really appreciate the heart attack you gave me this morning!!!!!
Besides for Toms lack of efficiency, I do appreciate the job, that the "Bear League" does.
If Tom comes to your property and says the bear is gone, use extreme caution entering the area. Tom is not using correct methods to ensure the job the job is 100% done. Tom put my health and life in jeopardy today. Beware of Tom.
I have a video of the bear and he is definitely a male between 600-700 pounds.
Do not come face to face with a bear under your house as I did today. If you call the Tahoe Bear League to inspect for a bear under your house, make sure you ask that they "DO NOT" send Tom!!!!
It could cost you your life.
