Our finicky seal point ragdoll loved this protein-rich wet food! In fact each time we gave it to her as a treat, she devoured it! Now I want to purchase more flavors for her to try! Ive been to Scraps a couple times while in TC. They have a great selection of wool sweaters for your pups along with food, treats, harnesses/leashs and toys. I love the brand Stella & Chewy's for my fur babies. They have their treats, food and dinner toppers along with a good selections of other brands. Lisa who works there was so nice. She gave great recommendations on treats and freeze dried foods. I will be back anytime I'm in TC. read more

Scraps is a long-time treasure for pet lovers in Tahoe City. I met Sandy nearly 20 years ago when my previous dog, Morgan, broke out of my car and ran to Scraps when it was located next to Safeway. I had been in there a couple times before with Morgan and apparently, he loved being there as well as remembering the location. Sandy, the owner, called me to come retrieve Morgan. We had a good laugh about his love for Scraps. I've been shopping there ever since. I absolutely love this store. Sandy is very knowledgeable about the products she carries and over the years, she has given some great advice to answer my questions concerning my dog's health as she used to show dogs. She has recommended particular foods that have been very beneficial for my dogs' wellbeing. Often, I travel in my RV with my dogs throughout Northern CA for my work and many times, I have needed to buy additional dog food for my two large dogs. What has really surprised me is that Scraps' prices are cheaper than those of the chain stores like Petco or other chains. The other special attribute of Scraps is Lisa. When Sandy needs time off, Lisa is there and very knowledgeable wonderful as well. Obviously, I HIGHLY recommend checking out this wonderful shop now located in The Cobblestone Center. read more

They had ONE dog sweater that was size XXXS and it fit my tea cup chihuahua perfectly. It would have been nice to have a bigger selection for smaller dogs. I was never greeted or helped in the store because the lady was on the phone talking crap about the employees (she said she was on the phone with her manager). Great location right next to Safeway, although that parking lot is often over crowded. Each time I have gone in there to spoil my dogs, the customer service has been great. They take the time to answer all my questions and know a lot about the products. The toy selection is constantly changing. We stopped in scraps to bring the boys a treat and were treated to the friendliest sales clerk ever! I'm not sure if she was owner or employee. She was so friendly and had the best laugh. We talked about CBD for our old pets and I loved that she carried it. Also got some elk treats from Park City for the boys. I love this place! I make a stop every time I'm in town. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Definitely a must for pet owners.

The person at the counter tried to give out dog a treat without asking us if it was okay, which is something no professional who interacts with pets should ever do. You never know a strange dog's dietary restrictions or allergies. We also asked her if she stocked any vegetarian treats, and she said no and proceeded to lecture us about how dogs cannot be vegetarian (ours isn't, something she never bothered to ask. He eats some vegetarian stuff because his vet recommended it). Here are the only points she made about why she thinks dogs can't be vegetarian: 1) she's had a lot of dogs 2) she's 71 years old 3) her "homeopathic vet" said so. Every thing our dog eats is approved by his vet and a vetinary nutritionist, but I guess if you want to follow advice from a system that has been disproven repeatedly for years and be condescending to people who come into your store, you're on the right track! Well done! I really hope that her belief in homeopathy hasn't taken over her common sense and her dogs are okay. read more

After walking around browsing the stores my family and I came across this cute little pet shop and we are so happy we stopped in! The owner was super friendly and really seems to care about the pets. Had a friendly chat and she doesn't sell the products in her store for profit, she tries them out with her own pets first and only sells products that she really believes in. So many natural products for my dog that I wanted to buy! We always stop by pet stores on vacations to buy a gift for our dog and out of all the pet stores we have been to while on vacation I would have to say this place has been my all time favorite! SO wonderful to have this pet store in Tahoe City. My dog is restricted to a certain type of dog food (Call of the Wild) and it is so nice to know Scraps carries it. The staff is very knowledgable and sweet. They are a joy to talk to and know a lot about animals. They have a wonderful toy selection and about every collar choice your animal could ever want.
