My wife kept bragging about this pizza place that she had been to a few years ago and supposedly the food was very delicious. So finally we were up in that area and we decided to stop in. I guess she was not exaggerating this time because the pizza really was very delicious and is probably one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I have driven past this place for years, YEARS! It was always a little joke with my Dad everytime we drove past on our way to or from Kings Canyon, I would ask to stop and he would say no. I was born in California but since we don't make it out there much since moving away, meals are reserved for those special restaurants we don't have elsewhere (In 'n' Out, Tommy's, Round Table Pizza...). So we never stopped. Last week I was in Kings Canyon with my family and girlfriend, and when she and I left I was determined to stop at Bear Mountain Pizza, after years of driving past it and wondering, the mystery would be solved and the pilgrimage would be completed. We were quite pleased. We each got a small pizza (her a 7" and me a 10") to much on during the drive back to LA. I had pepperoni, she had the Brazilian sausage (can't remember the names) and tomatoes. Both pizzas were fantastic! The guys at the counter were super-cool and friendly, too. All-in-all Bear Mountain Pizza was the experience I hoped it would be. We can't wait to check it out again when we are able to visit the incredible Sierra Nevada mountains again. read more

Yum! Excellent pizza in a beautiful location. We were staying in Squaw Valley on a weekend getaway and this was perfect for carryout dinner. We got the 12" Big Black Bear pizza for the two of us and some Jack & Cokes, and everything was great. The pizza was hot and the ingredients were fresh. During COVID-19 times you need to call ahead and then pick up your food in the drive-thru. The people working were upbeat and friendly and the process was smooth. Very cute. Recommended! read more

This place is pizza perfection and the last stop destination before going deeper into the mountains. My husband and I were on route for Sequoia and wanted to eat dinner on the road. Unfortunately we realized this a little too late after passing all the In-N-Out's in the road. Fortunately, Yelp pointed us towards Bear Mountain Pizza. The pizza was delicious. Dough wasn't too fluffy, nor too flat. Soft and chewy on the inside but a nice thin layer of crisp on the bottom. I thought this was going to be a mediocre pizza place since it was our last option. My expectations were met and surpassed. We even came here and brought all of our friends on our trip back! Pros: -good pizza, dat dough doe! -spacious seating, indoors and out -they have homemade cinnamon rolls they sell on the side!! -cool AC since it's hot AF outside Cons: -place seems to be short staffed so the wait time is pretty long (at least 30 minutes), even if there aren't too many parties. To start our visit to Sequoia Park, we decided to eat pizza - there is nothing else around other than this business. We parked the car and I walked over to place the order. At the entrance door was closed and full of signs of NOT this, not that, etc. no Welcome sign at all. I see that there is a drive thru and people queuing there, both by car and on foot. I get in the line. The first one takes the food, the next one was told they NO take orders here, you have to call, but they end up taking the order in a bad way. When it's my turn, the same thing. We don't take orders, here's the menu, call and order it, Bye, and they closed the window. Its stupid that i need to call to order when im there. While waiting we decided to play the arcade which kind of sucked. 50¢ per play and the racing game had a bad steering wheel. The sauce was ok but not overpowered with all kinds of spices and the crust was a bit too "bready". There is a lot of black pepper as a topping which overpowers the taste of the pizza. The pizza as a whole was on the dry side even though I ordered extra sauce. Most pizzerias around the valley are more like cardboard than pizza. Pretty good pizza, but really great attentive service. They kept checking in with us to see if we needed anything, and were genuinely friendly. Pizza came fast and... Hey it's Pizza so you can't go too wrong. Crust was good, thicker than expected but overall the pizza was a little bland, might be the tomato sauce they use...could use more flavors and maybe Italian spices/seasoning. My friend ordered the ice cream cone ... they give you huge scoops for the money. I would have given them 3 and 1/2 stars for the food because the service is so good 4 stars it is. Employee was very rude. I understand I failed to read the sign saying the drive-thru was solely for pick-up orders. The signage was on the passenger side and I stopped as a tourist in an attempt to support a local business. The employee at the window was rude and extremely bothered. Great room and board! Last summer, my youth group was on the way back from camp when, all of a sudden, our bus got a flat tire. We went there for lunch expecting it would be a 2-3 hour repair, but we ended up staying for a total of 10 hours. The staff was very welcoming, helpful, and patient. They provided a few free pizzas and tolerated 40 high schoolers for 5+ hours before they closed. The food was a little pricey, but it was totally worth it! They have fresh pizza and unique ice cream flavors! There are also lots of charging stations, a small arcade area, and a nice grassy area just outside the outdoor seating. I totally recommend stopping here for a meal...just not for 10 hours :) read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. I used to love driving 45 minutes just to come here with my group of friends. We would always be treated nicely and with great customer service. At least up until the change of ownership. Came here with a group of friends to eat possibly what could be one of the greatest pizza in our area, we didn't even finish parking when a lady came out and yelled at us and told us to leave. That they were not public parking. Her attitude was disgusting and she continued with saying she doesn't have food there for my group and I and insisted that we leave or she'd called the cops on us. When I told her we were parking to eat she continued to say even though you are I don't have food for you here. Not enough to feed all of you. Such a shame. Especially now during covid you'd think any small privately owned business would appreciate all the business they could get. The worse part is my friends and I drove 45 minutes just to come here to be humiliated and turned away. Sad to say I won't be coming back here. How can I describe Bear Mountain Pizza? Imagine if your car broke down in the desert and you started walking, you lose your way and there is nothing anywhere in sight. The sun is getting to you and all of a sudden you come accross a beer keg, nice and cold with freezer of frosted mugs. That is Bear Mountain Pizza. I can only imagine how many times it has saved a hungry traveler who has spent a little bit too much time hiking in the Sequoias and is on their way back down the mountain. We were visiting our son who works at one of the camps up the mountain. He wanted to show us this place. It is where he goes when he wants to get away from camp food, when he wants to get reception on his AT&T phone. We had lunch, a salad and a pizza as well as a cold beer and some soft drinks. The place was busy for 2pm, full of travelers as well as locals. There were nine firemen so you know it has to be good! Honestly the salad was OK, fresh and crisp but nothing too special. The Pizza was better. It was big and filled us up. Being that we were camping that night and didn't have much in the way of food with us it kind of saved our bacon too. Gave us some wonderful leftovers that sure hit the spot! I would note that the girl who took our order was over the top helpful and enthusiastic! This is a tiny place out in the middle of a valley in between Fresno and Kings Canyon National Park. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but Bear Mnt. Pizza is a really good pizza place. They have a large variety of sizes of pizzas (by the inch) and toppings. It's not a very expensive place either. The pizzas are done at an average amount of time. There's a big screen TV inside, half a dozen [working] arcade games, and there are cute stuffed bears aligned along the wall on a ledge. The atmosphere is a respite from a long drive. The pizza has always been good every single time I go. What's cool is if you know you are going to be passing the area, and you know their number, you can call in and have a pizza made and time it so that you pass through around the time it's finished. Perfect for people trying to scramble up or down the mountains who also want awesome pizza. Moderatley priced too. The workers are very humble and nice. Oh and I forgot to add, they have quite a bit of icecream too! This place is the perfect oasis for those traveling in between Kings Canyon Park and Fresno (or Clovis). There are very few stand alone buildings in the area, so you can't miss the place. It's on the N side of the road. Don't be turned away! Not only did you serve them what they called amazingly perfect pizza, but you showed them such grace. 55 bored middle school students for 6 hours isn't easy. And I teach middle school. This is our go to pizza place because it's the only one close to us. We usually order the Maui bear. If you choose to eat here be prepared to wait a while. They are always busy and take a long time to make the pizzas. We usually order about 45 minutes ahead of time and even then our order isn't always ready when we pick it up.
