On my journey in life, I'm all about making dreams come true. Even ones I never knew I had. After a rather technical motorcycle ride in the blazing heat and getting lost finding our Airbnb. Pinehurst Lodge was a mirage at the end of our ride. We were greeted by Georgia who quickly provided ice cold beers, a friendly smile and menus to order food. Get the burger! Jerry made our food with love and seasoned to perfection. I ordered a local favorite the tacos, but I have to admit I stole part of my husband's burger because once again...get the burger! After our early dinner we dreaded the idea of sitting in a yurt surrounded by heat and our own funk, so we took Georgia's advice and meandered to the watering hole. The hike down the hill was beautiful and, on our way, up we ran into some of the local deer. This city girl was so happy. After dipping our feet in the water and foraging some blackberries we went back for a few more drinks. This is where Pinehurst lodge made my dreams come true. Nikki greeted us as we slipped in behind a few locals. I showed her my half cup of berries with a huge smile, and the thorn pricks to prove I foraged them myself. Once again... city girl silliness. Nikki made me one of the best drinks I have had in my life with my berries. This was a dream I never knew I had until I had the first sip of blackberry, citrusy goodness. The locals were delightful and nice to me even when I got excited about deer, wild berries and bears. I'd highly recommend adding this to your Sequoia adventure and making sure to tip. Seriously the best food we had our whole California trip! The food was so fresh and we had great service.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. Ordered three patties melts and a BLT and it took over two and a half hours to get our food. There was us plus another set of 4 people at another table. If there was an another restaurant in the area, we would have left. Not only did it take forever to get our food, but the bill on my credit card wasn't processed until 3 weeks later. Find a different restaurant unless your time isn't a consideration. read more

Went here over a long weekend around 7:45pm and they were short staffed. The server lady was pleasant but was also doing the job of a bartender and serving. Ordered food and it didn't even start getting prepared for 45 min. When we asked where the food is around 8:45pm - they said another 15 min so we just left. It would have been nice if we had been informed how long food was going to take before we ordered. The kitchen was probably understaffed with 1 cook. Totally understandable in a small off the grid town like Pinehurst, but at 9pm - there was really no food option left for us elsewhere either. Our first several experiences were very good: 4 or 5 rating especially considering how remote the area is. Recently, however I called and spoke to someone and they confirmed they would be open the next two evenings. We showed up after driving 40 minutes and no one there. We called the phone number out front posted on lodge and only got voicemail. I left a total of 3 different messages and no return calls. I totally get it as there are so few options within an hours drive, but how long does it take to pick up the phone and leave a return message? I'd give this a 1 or 2 rating but gave it a 3 because of prior positive experiences here. read more

Came in for a very early dinner and it didn't disappoint. Got a burger and fresh cut chips. Also tried the samosas that aren't pictured, they were packed with flavor and the chutney was very fresh tasting and not thinned out. The workers were above and beyond friendly and attentive, such great service that I'd go far out of my way to visit here because they deserve the business. We had the chicken, fish and steak tacos and loved them! My nephew had the chicken strips and chicken sandwich and my kid had the chicken and rice. All were great! Niki was an amazing server and bartender. She even taught my nephew how to play pool! I would definitely come here again. read more

Caveat to the poor rating is that there is just nothing else around. Which also means that there's no incentive to improve. Burgers were terrible. I'm pretty sure it wasn't really hamburger. More likely ground turkey or something else. For $19. "Thai shrimp fried rice" had a gallon of soy sauce and a packet of generic frozen vegetables dropped in. Avoid. read more

Waited 2 hours and 30 minutes for our food just for them to only have written down a third of all our orders, so most of us didn't even get our food after the wait. Nobody was actually making our food the entire time, and the service wasn't helping us in any way. It was overall a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

This place used to be so good prior to the new owner. You used to be able to go in there and you'd be able to talk with the owners. Food would be made in house not just Sysco frozen patties or chicken fingers. It was amazing. Then they had sold it. I wish it had been a local that understood the importance of the location and how much of a good reputation they had. That isn't the case. I had a few guys working for me and I wanted food. They ended up saying they had their own and we could cook on the grill. No worries. Saves me a penny I still wanted some sodas. So I went over to the lodge. A local was still working the bar at the time. I got 6 sodas to go. 28 dollars. I thought for a second I was hearing wrong and had to ask what the heck that was about. She said the new owner increased the prices on sodas. Blew my mind. This was days after I had been in there for dinner by myself and order some chicken strips to go. It's only a 1/4 mile walk so I don't mind take it back home. I waited over an hour for my stuff. There was two families there including myself maybe 7 people. The families that were there were there together and got messed up orders, complained about there being no marinara which the guy in the back replied "the Sysco truck hasn't came yet!" Once I got my meal I left quickly because I wanted to eat at home and was already frustrated with the situation. When I do get home I find a chicken patty cut into piece. Three pieces.... So what I say is if you're in the area stray away or buy food before hand. If the owner was on premises like the old owners then it might start improving but from my experiences I doubt it. read more

Went in this past Sunday and the person behind the bar was nice. Took the order and served the food. The food was good, but the prices are too high. Referring to your cook as a chef is a bit much considering the food isn't what a chef would put out. I didn't look around much at the dining seemed clean. Was told we could eat where we played pool. So, we did. Found drinks on the table from the night before. And a lemon slice on the windowsill that's well past dehydrated and cobwebs also. The server was nice however distracted by decorating for Halloween, I know it's fun to do that but the french fry on the floor at least among the other stuff needing to be cleaned should have been done first. Mixed feelings about the place. Not sure if I will go back. Probably not since it is too far away and overpriced for what you get. read more

Went with a group of 15 motorcycle riders. I had called ahead a week before we showed up. They opened late about 12:15. Had to wait till the fryer to warm up. The server (1) busted her butt to get drinks and take orders. Most of the group ordered burgers. These were poor at best. It took 1 hour to get the first burger out. Then it was another hour before everyone was served. I gave two stars based on the server. Food was a single star (being generous here). An out of the way and lovely stop for drinks and food. Friendly bartender, with tasty, casual food. We ordered at the bar two MaiTai's and put in our food order as well. Then we decided to retreat to the empty deck in back. It was quiet and relaxing. Our order came quickly of jalapeño poppers. I got the fried chicken sandwich which was messy to eat but rather tasty. Let me start by saying the bartender was a sweetie. She was super nice. Except for the lie she told us about not knowing the potatoes didn't come in that day. She said this at 5pm, after we got our food... even though my wife asked for burger and fries. Guess nobody had ordered fries that day, even though the menu choices were extremely limited. We ordered our food and it took at least 30 min for it to arrive. There were three other patrons, and one was probably a friend hanging out. He wasn't eating. Lucky guy. First thing we noticed when we got our food was the... I'm gonna say, store bought pita chips that were deep fried for a second time? They ranged from burnt brown to the color of a brownie. Like really, really burnt brown. We didn't even try to eat them. Maybe they were good. Maybe bark tastes good. I'll never know. Second. You know you got a frozen burger patty when it was perfectly round and had that uniform thickness that only a machine can produce. It also had that unique cadaver grey color to it. The bun was refrigerator cold, but my guess was they were frozen as well because my wife pointed out that they were grilled. So it's easy to figure out if something was grilled, but really cold to the touch on the outside. Boom, you got frozen buns. It was a bar. My Diet Coke was in a can. Guess no refills. Lastly, never checked on us as we ate. Didn't ask how the food was. Didn't even say thank you, come again. Don't worry. We won't. P.S. The extra star is for the warm welcome from the bartender. They came out after 1.5 hours and said they didn't have what my husband ordered and what would he like instead. The food was good enough, but nothing special. They sighted that they didn't have their normal cook, but would have been good to know that when we came in instead of after an hour wait. I'd highly advise to eat in the park restaurants instead if you want to optimize your time. read more
