Fantastic local spot! The staff are so friendly and helpful. We came on a busier morning, the service was fairly quick, there's tons of menu options. I got an iced salted caramel latte- so delicious! We also got a cranberry scone, also amazing. This spot is only a drive/walk-thru no seating. The concept is very cute and you can get most drinks either hot, iced or frozen. I've gone to Bearclaw a few times and it's always great. I've tried the flavor of the day coffees (peppermint patty and Samoa) on two visits and I loved them. They were flavored just enough to get a taste and not overwhelming. My boyfriend tried the iced coffee and it was just as good. The Dexter bakery donuts are so so so good. I've been trying to find the best donut in Ann Arbor but I guess I need to go up to Dexter. I've only had the chocolate frosted donuts but they taste like the powdered mini hostess donettes but 100x better. I've also tried the Dexter Bakery Bearclaw pastry and it was light and not too sweet, had an almond taste to it. They also do a punch card system and I can't wait to fill it up. read more

I LOVE BEARCLAW! Whenever I visit Ann Arbor I get coffee from Bearclaw. Just their simple brewed coffee with a splash of almond milk is my favorite. I like what they did to the place. A long time ago it was a gas station. Before that who knows, but that it's evolving where Washtenaw and Stadium converge makes this split-level stone building a point of interest. Look at the pics and see how clever they made it. One criticism I agree with in other reviews is that they favor drive through over walk-ups. It did take longer than it should have to acknowledge and serve us. Menu is fairly simple, coffee etc.., ubiquitous munchies and... smoothies? Ok, something atypical here so we ordered the strawberry smoothie and found it to our liking. Reasonably priced, we only lingered on the premises to see how it's set up. Generally speaking, if we weren't parked across the street it would be better to drive through. While there are places to sit I think their forte is get the cars through here quickly. read more

Delicious coffee- I ordered a signature mocha blend with Almond substitute and was thrilled with the rich abundant taste. Double line drive through so you never leave your car & staff take & serve at your order at your car window. I suggest allowing more time to grab that cup of Joe to accommodate potential lines. Coffee truck was at our work, but after standing in line...not their fault...for 15-20 minutes, decided on the Black Bear & Karmel Kodiak...when I got them though, they had no whipped cream or syrup, it was just coffee in a cup with ice. I've passed this location several times in the past with the intent of trying it one day but never successfully making the time to do so until earlier today. I pulled in and was met by who was easily the most radiant and welcoming barista I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I ordered an iced mocha, hot chocolate, and a plain bagel with cream cheese, all of which were brought out to me in roughly 3 minutes and all tasting nothing short of perfect. With reasonable pricing, immaculate service, and fantastic food in mind, I fully intend on returning any time I get the chance. I got an iced blackberry latte here and it was delicious! They have a very cool drive thru experience here with two lanes and someone comes right up to your car for you to order. It's very personal and human, it's hard to not feel connected to this place! Only con was trying to get out of their drive thru. It's placed not so conveniently in the middle of a busy intersection. This fieldstone coffee drive-thru is a cute concept in-between two busy roads. Our experience was unique and personable for a drive-thru but the actual drinks were on the rough side. You can enter from Washtenaw or Packard. Someone came out to take our order and came back out with the drinks. Each had a tootsie roll on top of the lid! It was cute. She also saw that we had a dog in our car and brought him out a bone which he gladly devoured. We didn't see any outdoor area to leave a tip but you can just give it to the person who takes your drink order. My coffee was lukewarm at best and the hot chocolate tasted like a really cheap syrup. Couldn't finish either one. If you like the drinks, they offer a punch card. I wish I liked their drinks because I think the place is cute & the service is great. My pup does and unfortunately, he'll be barking at me to stop every time we drive by! read more

This place has been on my bucket list for the longest time because I kept seeing it as I drove around Ann Arbor. One day after shopping at Trader Joe's, I spontaneously decided to go because the drive through was right across the street. When we pulled up, I was a bit confused at first because there was no microphone to order in but a worker quickly came out to personally take our order and prepare it inside. I ordered the frozen latte. It had a distinct coffee flavor despite being a frozen drink and also a latte which I really appreciated. There are two lanes at Bearclaw, so you can pick the shortest line and wait for your turn. Because they're making them to order and running payment back and forth it can take a second to get through the line. No worries though, the staff was SUPER friendly and truly delivered service with a smile. I went with an Iced Americano and they had a sugar free sweetener that I added. There was a Heath Bar Mocha special that day that I contemplated trying, but I opted for my usual... I would definitely love to try some of their specials/fun drinks, though! I have been here in the past several times and the coffee is okay, it tastes how you expect. However, I recently drove through their top level drive through as I've done before and was waiting... and waiting... I waited 15 minutes, and in that time they served other cars that pulled through their bottom level drive through and served a couple of walk-ups, all of which came after me. They literally made eye contact with me and never came to take my order. There were no signs that the top drive was closed. Keep in mind, this was 3pm on a Sunday so not exactly peak hour. It's probably petty of me to leave this review but I was left wondering why, and with no coffee. If the owner reads this, PLEASE put out a sign on the top level that you don't serve through there anymore or at least tell people through the window that they should go to the bottom. read more

Now this is the cutest drive through I have ever seen. When we first drove into Ann Arbour had it not been night I would have stopped right away. A stone cabin with a drive through on each side, lots of wood, I was in love. I went to the other location in Dexter and had the worst coffee in my life there and couldn't accept the fact that I spent $10 on 2 coffees (thats right folks, the worst coffee ever will cost you $4.75 a cup) so I went to this drive in to complain. The girl here was also great, can;t knock the people they have working for them, all extreamly attentive and genuinly nice. She thanked me several times for bringing it to their attention, she said their coffee is strong but should not taste bitter or burnt, especially with the caramel, chocolate and whipped cream. So she made us 2 free cups, extra caramel, cream and chocolate but still the coffee here just tastes like shit! Why is it so bitter and burnt, what a shame, this is the cutest coffee chain ever and I love supporting local chains trying to make it. read more

I have to say that Bearclaw Coffee has one of the best chai lattes that I have ever had! It's perfectly sweet, cinnamon-y, and creamy. I have ordered it both times I have been there, and I plan on doing the same (though their blackberry mocha is really tempting!) I did also order an apple fritter from there, but it was a disappointment. It tasted like a stale grocery store apple fritter, so definitely a waste of money. I ended up throwing it away. I am now uncertain if I'll ever order any pastries there ever again. I will definitely keep coming back for the chai! The drive thru is really convenient and the people are very nice! read more
