We went to Bearded Ax around 4pm on a Friday. We easily got a place at the bar. Great choice of brews. They had a couple cider and wine choices as well for those who aren't beer drinkers (like me!). We ordered the cheese curds. They were good... had a little kick to them. Staff was great! We're headed towards AZ. One of the bartenders used to live in Tucson so he gave us some great places to go. Food: My husband and I shared the cheese curds and the fish & chips. The cheese curds (pictured) were good, but slightly too salty for us. Additionally, the seasoning weren't uniformly distributed so you'd get one extra salty curd and another that was not seasoned at all! The fish and chips were breaded in house with their beer batter, but I felt that the fish had too much batter. We received 2 large pieces of fried fish and fries (not pictured). Overall, the fish was good, but I wouldn't order it again. I'd try one of their burgers next time! Service: This is a counter order restaurant. They bring your food to you after you place an order at the counter. The restaurant staff still came by to check on your table after dropping off the food, which was a nice touch! Ambiance: The restaurant was pretty large with plenty of tables of various sizes. They had bar seats around the bar area, booths, and free standing tables. This is a good place to bring a small or large group. The restaurant shares the conjoining bathrooms with nearby businesses within the building so the bathrooms are a walk right outside the restaurant (connected through an interior passageway). Great Experience all around! Staff is friendly and helpful and the food and beer were delicious! Hubby got the fish and fries. The fish is in a beer batter and the cod was tasty. Fries are seasoned very well and cooked perfectly. I got the charred Caesar salad and added grilled chicken. It was yummy! Lots of beers and ciders on tap. We will definitely be back. read more

We stopped by this new brewery during the day and had a great experience. The space has a clean modern urban feel that is welcoming and comfortable. Our bartenders Holly Tabitha and Hailey were awesome. They were friendly attentive and knowledgeable about the beers which made it easy to find something we really enjoyed. The beers we tried were excellent and clearly well crafted. Jeff the manager on shift was also great and kept everything running smoothly. We ordered the loaded fries called the Smother Load and they were delicious. Hot flavorful and generously topped and easily a standout food item. This brewery is a great addition to Midlothian. Solid beer great food and an awesome staff make it a place we will definitely be coming back to. It is exciting to have something like this in town and it feels like it is here to stay. read more

It's a little strange but when you walk in you order at the counter. The service was very good and the food was very good. My husband got one of the burgers and was very impressed with the quality. I was nervous at having an iceberg lettuce salad but it was presented very well and was very fresh. The cheese curds were excellent...my husband is very excited to taste their beers when they're ready. Overall this is a nice family place to eat with good food and service. read more

Nice open air restaurant and brewery. Food was top notch pastrami cheese steak sandwich was awesome, pastrami was thick and smoked to perfection. Actually had to eat it with a knife and fork! Fries are seasoned nicely, maybe a tad too much, but still tasty. Burgers were large and cooked well. Need to come back to try the beer ( sorry it was a work day needed to work the afternoon without a buzz). Prices might be a tough high, but the quality of the food earns the cost. I do recommend this fun place in the heart of downtown Midlothian and hope you all enjoy it too! read more

Friday night we finally tried Bearded Ax Brewery for the first time. It was pretty packed and there weren't any open tables at first, but we managed to find a spot against the wall. We pulled up a couple of extra chairs and ended up sitting comfortably. The setup is open seating. You order at the counter, where the menus are displayed on the TVs, get a number, and they bring the food out to your table. Even with how busy it was, service moved quickly. If you open a tab, someone will come by to take drink orders and add them to your table number--something we didn't realize at first, but they still grabbed us another drink without making us go back to the counter. Also worth noting: no plastic silverware. Everything comes with real metal utensils, which was much appreciated. Now for the food. My son ordered the Ax Burger and loved it--he finished it before we even started eating. My husband had the Midlo Fire Bird, which was moist, spicy, and full of flavor. The fries were a standout too: crispy with great seasoning. I went with the fish and fries, and it was another must‑try. The cod was a good cut, fried in a delicious batter that was both crispy and moist. It came with coleslaw, tartar sauce, and a vinegar dip. I definitely recommend this place. We can't wait to go back and try more from the menu. read more

Food was absolutely incredible. The gluten free bun is undetectable, I was nervous about eating it because it looked to good to be true! I do wish their fries were gluten free, they seemed to be battered fries. So if you have a gluten allergy, you're sol. You order at the front when you walk in, staff was super sweet, personable, and the food came out quick. They have a pups menu, and we were able to bring our sweet boy to the outdoor patio. Try the pastrami, on anything! It's that good! They're still figuring out the order process... I did not love standing in line behind indecisive people trying all the beer when I'm there to eat.
