What a great lunch spot! My first visit here in Waxahachie,TX! A historical little down town that was bustling with people on a Sat. Morning. Rebecca was an awesome server, taking care of us and chatting with Texas hospitality! We had the special, a generous piece of Quiche with a salad. Not just a piece of flat quiche, this was 2 inches tall and was inside of a homemade crust. The salad was pretty and fresh. We topped it off with a slice of Buttermilk Pie and Coconut Cream Pie. All homemade. This is a must stop if you're in the area. And afterwards their gift shop is full of 50% off tables! 4+ stars, not a 5 cuz seating is difficult.

Peeps. I took the advice of team Elite and once again they steered me right. Intimate spot with a lively staff and the salad was outstanding. I had the chicken salad with my salad and it came with herb and lemon dressing. #DrKindness #Healing

The food is delicious with very good portions. The service was very small town Southern friendly, and the large dining room has tall ceilings and feels quaint. The antique booths are fun to parooze after lunch. Chicken salad was delicious, and I loved the Orange spice tea. One way to improve- I'm not a fan of when "fruit" is 95% grapes, with a strawberry cut in half. I prefer a side fruit to be more Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, clementines, kiwi, or mango... but that is my personal preference. So next time I'll ask what is today's fruit, and decide if I want more protein instead. Restrooms were clean and well stocked!

I was in town visiting and dropped in with my family to have lunch. It's a cute boutique and antique store attached to a cafe. They are pretty popular as every table was filled and there was a small wait for six people (10 min). The waitresses were kind and pleasant throughout the service. The bathroom was cleaned and all supplies were available. I had the smoked turkey sandwich with orange spice ice tea. Super delicious! I actually found the ingredients so I'll be making it at home soon. Everyone at my table loved their meals too. Their blackberry bread pudding is so yummy! They added ice cream and whipped cream which was over kill. I scrapped it off and took at bite of a small portion. It's perfect by itself in my opinion. I'll come back when I visit Texas again, thank you!

This place stays pretty busy and now I know why! Located in the back of an antique store, this place pretty much had a tea room kind of vibe. I ordered the lunch special today which was Quiche with bacon, caramelized onions, and goat cheese. What a delightful combination of flavors! To accompany it, I ordered the White Chicken Chili, it was also really good! When you come, be sure to save room for dessert! They have an amazing selection from Chocolate Pecan Pie, to Blackberry Bread Pudding, to Coconut Cream Pie, Buttermilk Pie, and Chocolate Cream Pie. You can't go wrong with any of them!

Popped in to this quaint spot for brunch, there are tons of beautiful things to get distracted on in the large boutique store-front while waiting...make sure you while party is present so you'll be seated right away. The place gets pretty packed on the weekends so service was a little slow, but the Southern hospitality style of the staff gets you in a relaxed mood. Servings are large, a half/half plate is a good idea and their specials and soups are to die for! Some of the chairs are labeled with names of famous folk who've sat in them...that was fun to see! Remember to bring a dessert home...the mini cheesecakes are worth it!

The place is adorable. I've been here before, but it's been a while. We were lucky that they could see seven of us and we waited. Probably about 15 minutes. The server was very attentive. I don't have her name because I didn't have to pay the bill. So my sister and I had raspberry lemonades and they were a little watery. my husband and I shared a chicken type salad sandwich and it was OK. I think the best part were the chips. I ordered fruit and it was seven dollars and you didn't get much. There were lots of leftovers and some of us had dessert. I had like a chocolate torte mousse. My sister ate all hers. I could not, everyone was very friendly. I bought their cookbook years ago and I love some of the recipes in it.

We will definitely be back! Waxahachie has more than 1 great local restaurant but The Dove's Nest may be a new fave! (A 20 minute wait for 2 people at 11:25am is a good sign that it's popular!) It's not the cheapest restaurant but $20ish to be totally stuffed with amazing food is not a bad deal at all! Mom and I usually order our own and split everything so she got the Dove's Nest Salad Medley ($13.95) with Apricot Chicken Salad and Baby Spinach Salad which was very large and super fresh! The chicken salad has sherried apricots with fresh rosemary honey Dijon mayo which sounds like a strange combo but is probably the best I've ever had! The Baby Spinach Salad has apple wood bacon, golden raisins & apples with orange curry dressing... again sounds suspicious but amazing! I ordered the Ham & Jam Sandwich (slices of grilled pit ham & Brie with arugula, mayo and private label peach habanero jam on a toasted ciabatta $12.75) on the recommendation of our very nice, friendly and attentive waitress (Rebekah I think)! Again, didn't sound super great but ya super great! I got the 1/2 sandwich with a cup of soup as the soup of the day was Green Chile Chicken which can be a bit spicy but this was just about perfect! In case that wasn't enough food (which it was) we each got an oversized slice of Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie (comes with a double scoop of ice cream for $7.50) which was GREAT! Real metal utensils and cloth napkins in a cool old building are just added bonuses! A few things to be aware of... 1 there's an upcharge for not paying cash... 2 the entrance to the restaurant is not the door on the side street but through the gift shop door on the corner (which is by design because) 3 you have to go through a great gift shop where you (and especially any female companions) will almost certainly find something to buy. Apparently the Dallas Morning News gave them 3.5 stars (which I think is short by about 1.5) and Texas Monthly magazine voted them one of the top 10 best small town restaurants in Texas! They're only open for lunch but if you're in the area it's a do not miss!

Every time we're in Waxahachie Texas, we always try to come to the Doves Nest in the Town Square. It has an amazing store with very cool and eclectic items with a restaurant on the side. Their food is fresh and quite good, no matter what you choose. It is a bit loud because it's an older building with poor acoustics, but the older building adds to the whole ambience of the restaurant. Their specialty tea is an iced orange spice tea that we really enjoy and the desserts and coffee are to die for even if you just came for that you would be pleased.

Nestled inside of a quaint shop, The Dove's Nest impressed us with both their rustic country decor and service. Though the menu is small, each of us enjoyed the food we ordered which was all cooked and served very well. The wait staff was attentive, quickly delivering our meals and beverage refills. Along with their meal items, they also offer some neat desserts that will complete a great meal. We visited for lunch and the small dining area filled up at noon. This small local charm is worth a visit.

Walking into this place immediately gives you the feeling of an old-school neighborhood BBQ joint…read more The building itself is older and pretty small, with just a handful of booths and several small tables packed into the dining area. The decor is very minimal, but one wall completely covered in customer signatures honestly adds a nice personal vibe to the place. Ordering happens at the register tucked into the back corner, so when there's a line it cuts right past some of the tables. Definitely close quarters while people are eating, but it somehow still fits the character of the place. The gentleman taking orders was friendly, just not overly talkative. The lady who brought our food out was very polite and welcoming though, which I appreciated. Overall, the service was okay. Our food took about 10-15 minutes to come out, which felt a little long considering it didn't appear very busy other than one larger party already seated when we arrived. To be fair, we couldn't see what was happening in the kitchen. The only real frustrating part was waiting close to another 10 minutes for a to-go container after asking a few times. As for the food, I'd say it landed somewhere in the average range for Texas BBQ. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing really blew me away either. I ordered the loaded baked potato topped with brisket, link, two pork ribs, all the traditional baked potato toppings, and their spicy BBQ sauce. First off, the potato itself was fantastic. Huge, perfectly tender, and honestly exactly what a baked potato should be. The toppings were fresh and plentiful -- butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon pieces -- and it could have stood on its own as a solid meal even before adding the meats. The brisket was over chopped, which personally isn't my favorite style at a BBQ joint. I usually feel like finely chopped brisket loses some of the texture and full smoke flavor you get from sliced or a coarse chopped brisket cut to order. It stayed moist, but I really didn't pick up much smoke flavor from it. The link was unfortunately overcooked and dried out. The casing had tightened around the meat, and even sliced up it just didn't have much juice left in it. The ribs were probably the weakest part for me. They were on the smaller side, dry, and pretty tough with the meat cooked down close to the bone. Now with all of that said, the seasoning on the meats was excellent. Bold flavor across everything, and the spicy BBQ sauce was absolutely on point. I just wish the meats themselves had a little more life and moisture to match how good the seasoning tasted. Overall, everything felt pretty average to slightly below average for me, especially by Texas BBQ standards. On the positive side, the prices were actually very reasonable considering how expensive meat has become these days. I'd still come back again because I'd like to try some of the meats individually and let them stand on their own without being loaded onto a baked potato. There's definitely flavor here -- I just think the execution was a little inconsistent during this visit.
