First off let us be fair, the food we got after 52 minutes was very good/tasty. The best cod and fries in town!! (Fish 'n Chips) So delicious! And they offer homemade tarter (dill style). This was our first visit, so we weren't sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or be seated. Waitresses were very busy, so we stood a long while. Apparently, if you see an empty table, grab it. Wish we would've known before many patrons came in and seated themselves. Now we know and we will definitely be going back. Neighbors say their Shepherds Pie is to die for. Travelers Beware - Locals-Only Vibe with Tourist Price Gouging I've been to The College Street Pub three or four times over the past year while in town, and each time left me more disappointed than the last. This place may seem charming, but make no mistake -- if you're not a local, expect to be overcharged and treated like an easy mark. Today was the final straw. I stopped in to kill some time and had two tall rum and Diet Cokes -- the tab? $40. That's outrageous. I made a point to observe how locals were being treated, and it was obvious: they were charged far less for similar drinks. It's a pattern I've noticed every visit. This place is family-owned and has clearly developed a system for identifying out-of-towners. They'll smile to your face, but they're reaching for your wallet. It's subtle but consistent. If you're from out of town or out of state, beware -- you'll pay a premium just for not being "one of them." As for the food? Based on what I seen being served around me, I wouldn't take the risk. Bottom line: Skip this place unless you're a local. Tourists and travelers -- there are far better and fairer options nearby. read more

Visited College Street Pub after seeing the great reviews on Yelp. We sat at the bar and had a couple adult beverages which helped us cool down from our walk around town. The burgers we had were great, cooked perfect. The bartender was the best, she was fast and friendly and kept checking on us. Small bar but lots of character. I have been wanting to try out this restaurant in downtown waxahachie for a while and it didn't dissapoint. I went here right after lunch time and it was busy but not overly busy. We were immediately greeted, 3 of us total, and seated. We got our drinks in and brought out asap. The place has. A great ambiance and the food was definitely delicious, i has the special sandwich of the day, chicken cordon bleu. They have different specials every few days as welll. Highly recommend trying this business out when in town. read more

I went with some friends and the food was good but probably because we were really hungry. I got the daily special on a Tuesday which was a chicken friend steak and my friend ordered one of their burgers with a dressed dos Equis. They only added a lime to her beer (no salt rim) and we waited a long time for everything. (About 20 minute wait for every item: water, to order, the food, check, and receipt ). For reference, we came at 7 pm but didn't get to leave until 9. It's likely they are understaffed during COVID as I only saw two waiters serving everyone. If you aren't in a rush and are willing to wait I'd recommend going here! Even though the food wasn't spectacular it is a nice place to socialize and see wildlife (personally, I counted 3 cats). read more

On a quick trip to Waxahachie I intended to visit 319 Bistro to find, sadly, it has closed permanently. My companion suggested College Street Pub and I said sure but was a little suspicious. This well worn looking pub has the look of a small town neighborhood haunt with all the essentials. Beer on tap, full bar, and an abbreviated pub style menu. Our waitress suggested the fish and chips were one of the best things on the menu so I ordered it. Fish and chips is notoriously unpredictable (either super greasy, poor tasting, or even dry and over cooked) but today...at this place...it was PERFECT. A nice golden crust, flakey fish, hot, not greasy at all, and tasty. Definitely worth the trip. read more

I would have given 5 stars but there were two things that threw me off. My wife ordered the Reuben and was asked if she wanted the side of chips or if she wanted to swap it with something else. She asked what her options were and they told her. BUT... there was no mention of an upcharge. That was a nice little surprise the register. We went on a Saturday. There was no wait and they weren't at full capacity, but it was busy. The place seemed clean enough. There were 6 if us, 2 being children. I had to ask 3 times for a high chair. My water glass was never refilled. Food took 50 minutes from being ordered to being delivered and it was cold upon arrival. So... Service was abysmal. The food was good. Nothing special, really. Process were about average. $10 per plate. We say on the patio where they had plenty of heaters. We actually had to ask to turn a heater off because we started sweating. They also have some stray cats that stroll through the area. That kept the kids entertained. Luckily. Great place to go that's outside of the big name norms in Waxahachie. If you're looking for a small town pub, this is the place. I love the atmosphere and their patio is very inviting. We like to come here to have a few cold beers, but the food is also pretty good. My husband had the taco salad and I had the Monterrey chicken. We started with chips and salsa, and the salsa was so good, we asked for more to accompany our meal. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. We enjoy coming here! I will say that they are just a little understaffed, so please be patient. The servers are trying their hardest to keep drinks and food coming to all their patrons. Always remember to tip well when you dine out! These people actually came to work instead of waiting on government handouts, just my 2 cents. read more

This pub is my kind of place. A little rustic, a little bougie, local flavor, and just on the edge of being "a joint". Now, y'all over 45 know what a beer joint is. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I did say it was a little bougie. There's pictures of Queen Elizabeth on the wall in bar area and in the bathroom for goodness sake. One night, we came in, and a man wanted to embarrass his son by singing a boy band song, and the entire bar sang along with him. Now, having said that. The playlist at this pub is awesome There are bar games that you can play. Just look to the right of the bar over by the lamp and there's some board games there. We're out here from California visiting family and discovered this little gem. Friendly welcoming staff and efficient service! Prices we're fine The Monterey chicken sandwich was great, moist and tasty. And it came with fries unlike a lot of restaurants here only serve chips. The soup of the day was Out of this world...broccoli cheese, very flavorful~ the cup was good size the bowl was big. The chicken chefs salad was great and plenty of it. read more

So very disappointed with this place. We walked in at 9:30 and the kitchen was already closed. The server was very uninformed about the drinks they could make. Once we got our drinks, we didn't see our server again. No napkins for the drink she spilled handing it to me, no checking to see if we wanted anything else. Apparently they close at 10:00 b/c we watched them empty trash and stand around and chat. My husband was actually told, not asked, to move some the guy could get through with the trash cans in the main dining area. He was then bumped by the same guy on the way back. After we give our card to the server to pay the bill, she stood around again chatting with the other servers. There's a very good chance we will not be back again. Very good gyro sandwich, the iced tea was very fresh and tasty however the service just wasn't there! Got served and she never came back! I had to ask several times for either water or refill on my drink. The second time I went got the salad and was just as good! Food is good but service could be better. Our second trip there and we sat on the patio. They had lots of heaters but our table wasn't near one other than a propane patio heater that quickly ran out of propane shortly after we sat down. Took our waitress about 15 minutes to speak to us and she quickly took our order. Brought my husband the wrong order but he said "whatever" and started eating because she quickly disappeared after bringing our food. About 10 minutes later she came back with his actual order because she realized that she brought the wrong food. Then we didn't see her again ....and we waited....and waited...then she came out, we handed her our card and she took off..not to bee seen again for 30 minutes. My card was ran immediately after we handed it to her because I got a notification. She finally came back out to take orders for another table and I had to ask for my card. She apologized and disappeared again, waited another 15 or so minutes and she came back out with food for the other table but not our card. About 5 minutes later she came back with our card. Maybe they were short staffed, maybe she is just unorganized, I don't know but it definitely gave us a bad taste and will probably be awhile before we return. read more
