My son had his 16th birthday here yesterday and had the absolute best time with his friends. It's so hard to find a spot for teenagers to actually have fun in the city. But this was spot on! Our server Arie was excellent! She was attentive and so personable! We had a little bit of an issue where my son left his birthday card on the table and I just knew it was going to be gone. We left the building drove 20 minutes home and realized he didn't have a card. We rushed back and the card was nowhere to be found. The manager on duty, Ian did not stop trying to help find this birthday card. We finally gave up after searching everywhere and as we were walking out out of the door a mother and son was having a birthday party also. My son's friends played a joke on him and gave him a girl's birthday card., so the other birthday boy was like this is not mine. The manager ran out after us and told us he found the card! He truly went above and beyond to make sure my son had a great time and we found the missing card! Overall, I've never seen a bunch of teenage boys smile and laughed so much on the videos that I saw. We went while in town for my son's birthday (out of state). Amid the "boring history stuff" this was the one thing he really wanted to do. We had four athletes and a computer programmer. We all do escape rooms regularly, including the kids. We've only not made it out of maybe one or two escape rooms so this is right up our alley. We booked in advance and didn't have to wait long like others have stated, so that was great. It was pretty empty for a weekend afternoon. There was one birthday party going on. A lot of employees hanging out but not surprised because it wasn't busy. Our game hostess was fine. Just told us that the screens would tell us what to do and don't move to the next room until the room you're in tells you to (because there was a party in front of us). Also the doors aren't locked so feel free to leave anytime, but the clock won't stop. She also told us to take absolutely everything on us and put it in a locker. Told us she "highly recommended" that we took nothing with us in the game rooms. Again, really common for escape rooms because they don't want you to give it away or take photos. Made sense. It took us at least two tries on each game in each room to understand what we were supposed to do, which wasted time. The instructions weren't amazing, but we figured it was supposed to be hard so didn't think that was complaint-worthy initially. Got to level 8 or so on most rooms, not much higher. Nothing to compare it to since there's nothing like this near us. Screen kept saying we were doing "alright". The room we thought we did the best in said we did "abysmal". Eh, okay, all part of the gag we thought. Maybe no one gets "great" or "nice work". Then we got to the laser room where things went downhill. The screens were supposed to let you switch the laser pattern, but only one screen on one side worked. We did our best and still tried to make the best of it. All in the name of having fun for my son's bday. At the end of the laser room a 10 minute countdown started and a voice said "feel free to take photos while you wait for the next room", which would have been amazing if we weren't encouraged to put them in a locker at the start of the games!!! Waiting for the bomb (foam) in the hallway and are the only team on the screen that chose foam when our team's name disappears from the list. The team in front of us goes ahead and I notice our team name is on their video screen and they are playing as us with our remaining bomb time. And they are going to get foam, not what they actually chose. I flag down a worker and he starts running around to his coworkers who are all chuckling at the mistake, not sincerely worried at all about giving the team already in the bomb room the wrong experience or the wrong amount of time. They got foam - and I don't think they got to do it again. I would not have been happy, but that's up to them to talk to the staff about. The worker then tells us he THINKS he can get us the foam we asked for but that he doesn't know how much time we had on the bomb, so we needed to give him a number. He also says we might have to email for our photos/video since the team before us will be attached to our team name. He tells us that his coworker was supposed to check the team's bands before us to confirm who they were and their bomb type, but forgot. Meantime, the workers behind him continue to be completely unconcerned and are chatting and laughing about it, hanging out, no big deal. No apologies, no concern over the screw up. That was disappointing. We get into our bomb room and everything is covered in slime including the controllers we need to use. We get our controllers and the whole thing shuts down. Computer .exe error. They get it back up and running pretty quickly and we realize as we start to play that at least two of the controllers aren't doing anything. Foam starts to come out before the bomb even goes off and at least one mask fails and we can't even see to finish the game (we were at five completed when this started). I ended up having to just take off my mask and turn around because foam is covering my mouth and I can't breathe. Photos and videos are terrible and we got someone else's video because they went under our team name. I hope they got their stuff eventually! The manager fixed it to our satisfaction, which is why I'm giving it three stars. He asked if we were staying to do other games, but didn't even know that was included or an option, so better communication too would have been great. I wish we could go back and try again to give it another chance, but there isn't one within four states of us. Hoping everyone else has a good experience because this could be amazing! We found another fun experience to finish the birthday and honestly believe you should give this a chance. I'm extremely sore today after an afternoon spent at Beat the Bomb. I went for a friend's birthday with four others. The check-in process was seamless. The staff at the front desk asked for the person's name who created the reservation. Once our entire party arrived, we got wristbands that appeared to have a chip inside of them to detect which player is doing what inside each room. The birthday girl received a token for a free t-shirt of her choosing. We walked over to a set of lockers to place our belongings into while we played. Without giving too much away, there are four rooms you go into with the skill levels increasing each time. Most of the time, we made it to level 12-13 depending on how difficult the challenges were. At the end, you are provided with a bomb time (based on your total score from the initial rooms) to beat the bomb. We had roughly 4 minutes and 13 seconds to perform the last challenge. The attendant provided us with shoe covers and a white suit to put on while we waited for the room to be ready. Another attendant provided a clear helmet for our faces. I'll say it's slightly loud throughout the entire thing, so it's somewhat hard to hear instructions. I wasn't clear on the instructions we received when we got into the first room but I eventually figured it out. Our final score was 5/10 and the time was running out. Next thing you know, the paint splattered all over us. It was a funny feeling as the paint was cold. The cameras took a 10 second video of us and also a few photos. It was so fun to see our media at the end of it all! The employee walked into the room to hose everyone down. The food and beverage choices were decent and reasonably priced! They have alcoholic slushies and bar bites, such as chips & dip and pretzel bites. I got a cider on draft for $5.00. This was an experience I'll never forget! The games are fun for both kids and adults! We went with family and friends for a birthday celebration, and everyone had a great time playing. The front-end experience was fine, but once we got to the bar to order drinks and food, things went downhill. We waited about 10 minutes to be helped. I don't blame the bartender -- she was clearly doing her best and working hard to keep up. However, another employee came over and instead of asking who was next, he chose a couple of people to help and then walked away, which was frustrating. I understand that Fridays can be busy, especially with lots of reservations, but better staffing or having a manager step in to help during peak times would make a big difference. Beat the bomb was a PE class for millennials... And we failed! To start, E.J. was amazing! He helped our large group of 9 people from start to finish. It was my best friend's birthday! He explained and assisted with a test game to show us what we would be doing in our Bay Area. When we had a technical issue, E.J came right over and helped us. He was the best! The games we played were physical but so fun. There was a mix of mind games, movement games and a ton of teamwork! What We Paid For vs. What We Got Promised: Party host, private space, unlimited drinks, photos/videos, party essentials Received: Nothing as advertised. I became the host for my own child's party. Major Issues: No Customer Service:All Locations with NO phone support. Had to communicate everything via email for allergy concerns and basic questions. Missing Host: Despite paying for a "Party Bomber" host, I was abandoned on arrival. No explanation of activities, no guidance - I had to manage my own party while paying premium prices. Fake "Private" Space: Other customers constantly invaded our reserved area. I spent the party removing strangers and arguing with upset patrons while staff did nothing. Health Code Violations: Bartender handled cash then touched unwrapped straws with unwashed hands. Basic amenities missing - no plates, utensils, napkins, or balloons as promised. False Advertising: Unlimited drinks never provided (server claimed package was "slushy or soft drinks only") Incomplete photos/videos for teams No free future visit vouchers (got generic reward points instead) Terrible Management: When I complained, manager said "What do you want us to do about this?" Then offered incorrect partial refund ($148 vs. actual $198.89 admin fee). The Real Impact My son said he never wants to go back. That says everything about how badly this venue failed. Bottom Line For $90+ per person plus 15% admin fee, this is highway robbery. Poor staff training, false advertising, absent management, and zero accountability. This was such a fun experience! When I told the staff that it was my daughter's birthday they went above and beyond to make her feel special. Amanda the bartender made the most amazing strawberry lemon drops! Our hostess Dee was friendly and outgoing. She was very helpful throughout the process. Absolutely zero accountability or transparency. They tell you to come 15 minutes early just for you to wait over an hour after your reservation not including the early arrival. After waiting 25 minutes, I went to the front desk to inquire only to be ignored for 5 minutes while the employees chit chat with one another. Then I was told it was another 20 minutes because "it's the weekend and they're running behind". No sympathy, no apologies. As someone who drove an hour and a half in traffic and spent half a grand to come to celebrate a loved one's belated birthday, this experience so far is extremely disappointing. As a group we tried to place a food order since we're waiting but the waiter said it wouldn't be enough time. So now we're just sitting here. This is one that made it out the group chat. I can't speak on the food, we ate before coming. We went on a Saturday there were 5 of us, the initial wait time was 45 minutes. We did reserve a time slot, but they were running behind. It's busy on the weekend. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes. They have air hockey for free. Along with other games in the front area. They sell food and drinks, but no water. Yes weird, they have Gatorade and alcohol drinks even slushies, but no water. Before going in to play they explain the game to you. First you have 4 rooms you go in and play different games, in these 4 rooms you Want to finish as much as possible because this is where you accumulate time to play the final game in these bomb room. The more time you Have the more time you have to solve the last puzzle. Everyone gets bombed regardless in the end. You pick between the paint, slime or foam bomb when you first check in. read more

DO NOT GO!!! Wife and i went for a party scheduled at 945 on Saturday, February 15. At 1130 we just couldn't wait any longer. We waited, almost 2 hours, with no explanation, no compensation, and didn't even get to play because of how poorly run this place is. On top of wasting 2 hours, we had to spend an additional $38 to park. I asked them for that $38 returned, as the LEAST they could do. I sent the message sunday, giving them monday and tueadsy to respond. They have not responded, which I consider the same as refusal. I did gave them time before posting. This was a Saturday evening, likely one of the busiest of the week, and they apparently, claimed to be understaffed. You can't run a business, and cut employees, and increase bookings. That isn't how this is supposed to work. You either increase employees to match demand, or decrease bookings to match support. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS!! Do not waste your time or money here! There are lots of escape rooms, and hopefully, someone will figure out how to run this type of experience correctly. This company, clearly has hiring issues, employment problems, or something, but this isn't how you run a business. You either hire more people, or book fewer people. While the VIP package was prepaid in advance, I purchased chicken tenders and tater tots for $12 and added an 18% tip, which should have totaled $14.16. Instead, I was charged $28--and the company refuses to fix their mistake. Here are the facts: * The VIP package was already fully paid in advance (about $77 per person). Nothing related to that package should have been factored into my individual food bill. All the items on the top of my bill was paid for an advance. * My group used handheld devices to pay for our food separately, and each person tipped for their own order. Yet somehow, I was charged gratuity on a larger amount unrelated to my food. * Other guests in my group, who ordered the exact same items and applied a tip, were charged correctly based only on their meals. Despite providing receipts, bank statements, and proof of the issue, Beat the Bomb's team refuses to issue a refund or admit to the error. Instead, they continue to give inconsistent explanations that don't make sense. At this point, it's not about the money--it's about the principle of fairness and professionalism. Our group of 4 had this planned for a while and were super excited. Unfortunately, every single game broke... like every room had an issue. We had to replay almost every single game. I think we would've had fun but it was just super annoying. Even the last game where you get slimed didn't work... I went to the front desk after to explain that this was not a good experience and waited 15 minutes to talk to someone. At first they did not do anything about it and just said oh this never happened before it's an off night. When my friend stepped in, they offered us 20 % back which was nice but honestly I really wouldn't recommend. I would like to know if this was a one night issue thing or if this happens a lot. I would've preferred they called us before the game and told us it wasn't working. I was told by one person they've had issues the entire day... but they still kept taking people without fixing the problems. After paying so much for this I should've received a full refund for our group or a game for free to come back when it was working. Overall just super disappointed. read more
