Totally outside of my comfort zone, escape rooms, I pushed through and engaged with a group of six other team members to try and conquer the Alice in Wonderland themed escape room. Our game master was Allan. Allan was very energetic and gave out clues if our group was stumped and we requested a clue (all while wearing a hilarious oversized Alice in Wonderland hat) .We actually made it through both rooms and were informed we beat the other groups that tried to solve the escape room earlier. If you love solving puzzles and working with a team, this could be your jam. If you get flustered easily, escape rooms are probably not your thing. As always people SYOY!!! read more

Great spot -- friendly staff! We've done other escape rooms in the city that are more strict and focused on leaderboards whereas this place is fun and casual. The Jack The Ripper room opening is immersive -- the room itself was okay 3/5. The aesthetic and ambiance is perfect -- but that also is problematic with the darkness. Artistically it is a delight, love the brick wall and the picture frames -- but the puzzles themselves were confusing during the experience to me. The Alice and Wonderland room was enjoyable. Silly experience. Straightforward in terms of progression, just difficult puzzles in themselves. Been to other escape rooms in this city and they weren't as friendly. read more

I had a wonderful experience here. We did the Jack the Ripper escape room and I was legitimately scared lol. It added to the excitement. The way the entire room was set up made you feel like you were truly apart of the story. No spoilers. Everything about this place was great. We won our mission. The location and set up of everything was really well done. Their waiting area was nice and comfortable. They have lockers for you to be able to lock up your stuff. They also have water and also had girl scout cookies on sale. The decor of the place was nice, and that might be because a lot of it was my in my 2 favorite colors. They have options for different types of rooms like 'Thai Prison' and 'Alice in Wonderland' but i really liked ours and would highly recommend if you are looking for true mystery and a good thrill! read more

We booked this Escape Room on New Years Day. We did the "Alice in Wonderland" Room and our entire group loved it. That room was so well done. The decorations were so in theme and intricate. Without giving away too much, I liked the use of audio clues in this room. No, I'm not talking about when you ask your game master for a hint, but there were audio clues baked into certain elements of the puzzles. This room is definitely a step above many other rooms with far more interactive elements and doesn't rely on boring word/math problems to pad for time. Our game master Lee was very attentive and gave very useful hints when asked. I would highly recommend the Alice in Wonderland room for any Room Escape enthusiasts. read more

As seasoned escapees we can honestly say that MindEscape is fantastically challenging. Jack the ripper has one of the most unique game starts that we've experienced, and the Alice in wonderland room is a completely different game experience than we've ever had before. These rooms are probably best suited for a larger group (3 to 4+ people) or a pair of veteran gamers. Dil (spelling?) was a fantastic game host. After we finished 'Jack the Ripper' he took some time to talk to us about our other escape game experiences and that is how we ended up doing back-to-back rooms and trying out the Alice room. Covid note: we appreciated that Dil requested that we wash our hands upon entering and provided hand sanitizer before we used the tablets to check in. ESCAPETHEROOMers visited MindEscape back in March 2019. Parking in the area is a little bit tricky especially during the weekend. Recently they just partnered up with a parking lot that's 1 block away so you can easily park the car for 3 Hours for $10. Although the facility is in a sub-level, there is a ramp for handicap accessibility. We were fortunate enough to meet with the owner/ developer to learn more about the company. They currently have three rooms available. We tried "Jack the Ripper" room followed by "Thai Prison". They have a great location with plenty to do in the area. The lobby/ waiting area is cozy with plenty of seating available with puzzles to occupy you while you wait. "Jack the Ripper" room we were paired with another couple and we each started with a blindfold and handcuffs. The room design was quite impressive and provided an eerie feel to it. The puzzle challenges could've been a little bit clearer in correlation with the storyline. Unfortunately, the group that was in our room before us broke one of the locks and we weren't able to experience that puzzle. Also, we figured out the correct code for another lock and it wouldn't open. The game master had to come in and try it a few times himself to get it to open. There were some red herrings in the room but nothing too derailing. We managed to escape with time to spare. "Thai Prison" started our group off into two separate parties. We were paired with two other people and they split us up to work with them. It was great for team building and compromising as we really needed to work together to escape. The puzzle design for this room was great! It actually felt like I was inside of a prison trying to escape using my surroundings. The storyline was very interesting and the puzzle challenges were creative. This escape room was super interactive and fun! Our game host Peter was superb and his clues basically saved our lives . With just two people I believe we did just a great job! They have rooms for people from 2 to a group and up to 6! The more the merrier but this is also a great idea for a date night. Too bad I have no man and went with my gay best friend. This was our first escape room experience! We met up with some friends who love doing escape rooms so I knew that if they liked the place, it must be good. My friends and I decided to do the Jack the Ripper themes escape room here and it was AWESOME! Kate, our Game Master, was fantastic, friendly, and entertaining. I loved this escape room. They really try to get you into the mindset of the theme here/truly make you part of the story. The room was tough, but it all made sense, so even though it was difficult, it wasn't impossible. We made it out and solved the puzzles with less than 10 minutes to spare! It was so much fun putting things together and working as a team to escape! First off, I have to express how much we enjoyed having Nat as our gamemaster. They made the whole experience more engaging and fun throughout. The puzzles were really tough, which I am really grateful for. We were given the rules right up front and felt safe. The whole setup was fun and engaging. We had a small group of four and everyone felt like they could play a role in the experience. It was also really nice that we could lock the time to our small group and not have to pay extra (like some other places). Excellent experience. Superfun. First time doing an escape room and we did Thai Prison (as opposed to American Prison, where maybe people would be triggered?). We had Dill as our Game Master and he was fun, stayed in character, answered all our questions, and was really upbeat and professional. Plot twist: You have to escape more than one room. We got out of the jail cell in 20 minutes and I was like "WOW WE ARE REALLY GENIUS AT THIS" and then was shocked that there were other rooms we had to go through to get out. So now you know when you go and you'll beat our time since I spent 5 minutes just processing that we were still "in jail." I can tell this place may need a little care-- but considering you're like ripping walls apart to find things, I can see it takes a beating so understandable it's not the most pristine. Regardless, the jumpsuits + the handcuffs make it fun. Keep an open mind, go with friends, have some good clean Prison fun. read more

This was difficult & thinking outside the box was a must. If you want to be challenged-here you go. If my boyfriend and I were to do this alone, we would still be prisoners. Everyone MUST work together. This was my first Escape room challenge and it was difficult but nothing in life comes easy. I knew we could have gone to less challenging/rated escape games but that's not what I was looking for. I didn't leave feeling defeated. But because I didn't contribute as much as I would like, though I DID in my book, but because I'm competitive-even with my own team-because I AM an adult I was satisfied with the amount of effort & thought put into this. Made it out with 10 minutes to spare, and the employee that watched us/gave us hints said we worked together better than most groups (which is probably due to the fact that we've known each other for 20+ years!) The room was very well-designed, and it had some really interesting clues. The historical aspects gave this room a very creepy feel, but overall wasn't terribly scary. read more

First time I've ever tried an escape room. OMG! Thai Prison was freaking epic! Challenging, creative, and so much fun! A total of four of us played. The game master turning into a prison guard was a really nice touch! At the end, she told us we worked like a "well-oiled machine". Next time we're in Philly, we're coming back to this place. Best ever escape room I've ever done! The staff was great. Very friendly. Played the part of the prison guard very well. Maybe too well.... he was a little scary, locking us in the prison cell with handcuffs on! Our group of 10 got out in 46 minutes, but it was truly teamwork. I figured out some puzzles, but others I would never have gotten without my teammates. This is a great team building exercise for a company's department or group of managers. This was my 3rd escape room, but the first for most people in my group of 9. The premise was very unique (Escape from Thai prison), and I honestly had no idea how they were going to pull that off. It was epic! The puzzles were challenging, but not too hard. We needed a number of hints to get through some of the more difficult parts. I was afraid that having a large group would be a little to overwhelming, but it was perfect. We each figured out different parts of the puzzle and made it out in time. Unanimous agreement: Escape from Thai Prison was our favorite room to date! Our group of 4 did a "double-header": both rooms back to back. We did Jack the Ripper first - such a clever start with lots of nervous laughter, lol. Both games were super-immersive (may I suggest the orange jumpsuits in Thai Prison for an all-in experience?). I won't ruin the surprise but these were unlike any we'd experienced before. The rooms had tons of attention to detail - always more than meets the eye. Our gamemaster Dill was awesome & read our group really well, matching the engagement / enthusiasm of each player. We had a great time and managed to escape both rooms... with a couple clues. Both games here are definitely worth playing. Thai Prison was probably my favorite of prison-themed escapes I've done. Jack the Ripper was also good, though note it is a harder game so bring your thinking cap for that one. Looking forward to trying their new room when it opens. read more
