Greek Yogurt w/ Berries & Granola
    Leah G.

We came in for breakfast at around 7:00 am. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The smell of pastries as you walk in the door was intoxicating![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated in a cozy corner table, and I got the mango orange pineapple juice, which was so refreshing! Hubby got a cold brew that he enjoyed as well. For entrees, I got the yogurt and granola bowl and hubby got a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Both were super tasty! Our waitress was attentive as well.

Will return. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fake hanging plants; friendly and warm service; open kitchen; elegant water glasses and napkins (I think they're synthetic); earthy Barista tableware.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We've - Greek yogurt - Shakshouka Both are good, especially the yogurt: the banana is awesome. Shakshouka has a lot of kale! The pita is soft and fresh, I ate it all with olive oil -:) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bathrooms are in the hotel lobby; it has an ATM.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Beatrix is a mini-chain of all-day restaurants, coffeehouses, and markets in the Chicago area.

Prompt service! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here with a group of six for lunch during a weekday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the truffle appetizer along with our entrées and we were out of here in exactly an hour. I ordered the quinoa mushroom burger, which was delicious. My only complaint is that the fries were not as warm or crispy as I prefer.

This breakfast was so good! I had the lavender honey latte and it was amazing. The avocado toast was delicious. The pancakes were amazing... I could go on. Great service and great food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself was not very stroller friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wish a staff member would have just told us to go through the hotel next door with the stroller, but we didn't realize it connected until we struggled our way through. One guy looked at my husband and literally said "good luck" without budging. (This was just a customer not a staff member) but it was so wild to see that kind of interaction!! Anyway, just some extra compassion to the parents who want to enjoy a nice breakfast would go a long way, but food wise we would recommend and would go back.

    Hello, Rod Stewart!

Ordered a cheeseburger to go (my bf was in the hospital upstairs and I was going to eat with him in his room). Wait wasn't long for the food. Packaged well but the burger was so juicy it kind of soaked the bottom bun completely. I would go back and eat in person as it was delicious. Also they really nailed the decor for me as a fan of Prince and Rod Stewart!

Walked past window signage about happy hour, now candidly I had always viewed Beatrix as a breakfast/brunch spot (which they are), but I was craving a burger and was about to go elsewhere for it but curiousity got me! $12 for a burger with fries in River North almost sounds too good to be real, but I'm happy to report it's a real thing! Monday-Friday 4p-6p in the bar. Now the big secret is out: Go! My waitress was Maddie, she was a sweetheart and quite bubbly, she kept checking to see if I needed anything else, and above all asked about allergies at the onset. Thank you!!!! The vibe was cozy, casual and modern. Really busy and now I understand why:) The burger was cooked perfectly, garnished with grilled onions, shredded lettuce and aoli. The fries were tasty and thankfully not salty. Food took a while to come out but arrived fresh so the cuppuccino was a nice hold-over. Beatrix is also part of LettuceEats group so xou can get points or pay tabs with points if you are part of their rewards program. I'm definitely coming back! Great experience all in all, the only area for improvement is the hostess who ignored me standing there until I interrupted her scrolling her phone then eventually just sat myself down and borrowed a menu from the table next to me.

My friends and I made a quick stop into Beatrix for some drinks and apps. Since the menu isn't super broad, we decided to stick with appetizers and they definitely did the job. The spicy tuna crispy rice was the star of the show. It was incredibly fresh with the perfect crunch. The whipped feta was also a surprising favorite, especially with the honey on top which added a really nice touch. The crackers it was served with wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was still really delicious overall. Great spot if you're looking to grab a few drinks and share some tasty apps.

Thought this place was fine. Just nothing particular special . It's on the first floor of a hotel. Next door is Ema which is honestly much more interesting. This place is just ok brunch food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's noisy and bustling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a coffee bar you can get pastries and takeout coffee. I went to dine alone and was told open seating at the bar. Service was very fast and attentive. Food was solid. Go here to get coffee or a hot breakfast without hassle.

While staying in town nearby I came here for breakfast... I chose this place because the reviews I saw were all great and once I got there, I understood why! Service was very helpful, friendly, a nice! The menu for breakfast is very good and they have a very popular and amazing coffee bar with lots of pastry options too. I chose their Bacon, Egg, & Cheddar Sandwich and asked for hash browns with it and for those to be extra crispy. Starting with their regular coffee - it was great! Then the food came out relatively quickly and looked amazing! The egg was PERFECTLY (ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY!) cooked! The sandwich came together and tasted amazing... I especially loved the bites of freshly sliced jalapeño and the arugula in the sandwich too!! The has browns were made the way I asked and tasted sooo good! Overall, I would definitely recommend giving them a try and I can see why the reviews were so good! My visit was very nice.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes and inside here is super cute, from the sit down area all the way to the cafe/bakery ordering counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is a bit on the pricier side and the food doesn't have anything too different or too much flavor. The service was really fast and good - just an average place in river north in my opinion. Nothing wrong with that!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, it's a pleasant place to meet with friends or coworkers after work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music isn't too loud and doesn't interfere with conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As for the food: I understand that this is very subjective, but neither my husband nor I enjoyed the appetizers. That said, my husband did like the kebab. I had the whitefish - overall, it was pretty good. If it weren't for the lemon, the dish would have felt like it was missing some brightness in flavor. The service was very polite - no complaints at all.

This place is inside a hotel that has a separate entrance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Food is good and family friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices are decent.

Smashed Avocado Toast with Poached Egg
    Stephanie L.

Went here for a diva brunch and it was kinda mid. Got the avocado toast based on a rec from a friend and i could make better at home. The poached egg was also split and served with a bunch of water, not obsessed. Went here for happy hour as well because it was right below our hotel and the tuna crispy rice was not bad.

We ordered a flight of whiskey sours, which contained whiskeys from Japan, Vietnam, and Wisconsin. I also was able to order an amaretto sour, which they made with freshly hand beaten egg whites, which was a nice cherry on the top. As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. The heaviest one was the Wisconsin which came with a little bit of a bite at the end, but it still wasn't bad if you're trying to blackout on a $15 budget. I would definitely come back with a larger group this seems like a great place, but is a little bit loud- so if you be prepared to yell or wear earplugs. The bathroom took my a second to find, which should have been intuitive considering it was on the opposite end of where you come in. I blame the lighting as things are already pretty hard to find in the dark, but eventually I made it there-Pat myself on the back.

We chose to dine at Girl & the Goat in Chicago, a restaurant we had never visited before. The acclaimed restaurant by renowned chef Stephanie Izard truly lived up to its stellar reputation! One of the first things we appreciated was the convenience of the restaurant's valet parking, located right by the front patio. At $22 for up to four hours and $26 for four to eight hours, the rates were quite reasonable for the area. As soon as the three of us stepped inside Girl & the Goat (we had made a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Friday), we were warmly greeted by one of the two friendly hostesses, and were promptly led to a comfortable four-top table with a banquette and two chairs along the wall. We felt fortunate to have one of the better tables in the dining room, as some of the others were positioned very close together. The nearby two-top tables, in particular, were quite small and placed only a short distance from ours. The restaurant's rustic-industrial décor was dark but trendy and stylish, the lively and vibrant vibe was warm and welcoming. However, I have to mention that it was really loud in the dining room, as guests seemed to be enjoying themselves and talked loudly.  It was hard to hear our server and the staff who delivered and explained the dishes to us.  Our server, Yazmin, was extremely friendly and attentive.  It was very sweet of her to wish us a happy anniversary both in the beginning  and at the end of the meal.  She also checked in on us several times during the evening.  Now, on to the food and drinks. I started with a glass of the NA Sparkling Rosé ($17), which was light, crisp, and quite refreshing. My husband ordered a glass of Le Colture Prosecco ($18), while our daughter chose the Sun Kid ($18). She enjoyed her drink, although she felt the portion was a bit small, as the glass was filled with a lot of ice that took up much of the space. Since the restaurant offers small to medium plates which are shareable, Yazmin advised us to get 5 to 6 dishes for 3 people to share.  We decided to get 5 savory dishes and 3 desserts to share: Savory dishes: - Chickpea Fritters ($20), goat yogurt, green chutney, sev spice crunch, pickled rhubarb. - Pan Roasted Halibut ($37), miso-Marcona almond butter, spring onion blueberry nuoc cham. - Roasted Pig Face ($28), sunny side egg, tamarind, cilantro, red wine-maple, potato stix. - Goat Empanadas ($24), smoked tomato-corn salsa, roasted poblano crema queso fresco. - Confit Goat Belly ($38), strawberry goat braise, smoked yogurt drizzle, pickled strawberries. Desserts: - Vacation, Please! ($16), toasted coconut crunch, lemon passion fruit sorbet, rum-soaked pineapple cake. - Berry Yummy Par-tea ($16), earl grey soaked sponge cake, yuzu curd, spiced blackberries. - Chocolate Basil Brownie Bash ($16), olive oil semifreddo, chocolate fennel crunch, basil granita. The meal was just phenomenal!  All the savory dishes were cooked perfectly with bold flavors; the meats were tender and full of flavors.  There were dishes that we normally would not have ordered if we saw them on menus of other restaurants.  Here, we tried them and were delighted that we did!  Our consensus is that Roasted Pig Face is our most favorite! It is everything we love in a comfort dish -- crispy on the outside, meltingly tender inside, and packed with rich, balanced flavor.  We will definitely order this again!  The Confit Goat Belly is a close second, with buttery, fall-apart meat and just the right balance of richness, acidity, and crunch. For dessert, "Vacation, Please!" is the one that we will always come back for. The toasted coconut crunch adds texture, the lemon passion fruit sorbet brings a refreshing tang, and the rum-soaked pineapple cake ties it all together with just the right amount of sweetness.  The other two desserts that we ordered were also very good.  The staff even brought out a scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream on the house, with two lit candles to celebrate our anniversary - a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable.  This dessert spread was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. I'd like to mention that the restaurant added a 4% surcharge to the bill, which the customer may request to have the surcharge remove if you choose.  We let them keep it. We spent about two hours at the restaurant. The savory dishes came out very quickly, the pace probably was even a tad too fast, but the desserts made up for it by taking a longer time.  We did not mind as we were still full, and had time to enjoy the ambiance more.  I would say it is a restaurant great for group gathering and celebratory functions, but not so much for intimate romantic date night.  All in all, it was a wonderful dinner, we look forward to returning again.

We each only had a couple of bites left, but it definitely gave off an "okay, you're done now" vibe. Then he went to take the green beans (arguably the cult classic on the menu), and we still had more than half of them left. I had to stop him and say, "Yeah, we're not done with those. We paid for them. Can you put them in a to-go box instead?" For context, it was about 20 minutes before closing, but we ordered with plenty of time and were already eating with a "get in, eat, and get out" mindset. I've just never had someone at a restaurant start clearing plates while we were still actively eating--without asking, "Are you finished?" "Can I clear this?" or "Would you like a to-go box?" It was just... "You're done, these are leaving now." We were there for less than 45 minutes, left about 15 minutes before closing, and spent over $200 (not including the tip). With so many options in Chicago, I don't see myself coming back here.

I have to commend the staff as they were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was to my liking. While they couldn't nail the steaks, they excelled in customer service and care. I'll def make a return visit next time in the area.

Came here for a work event so this review isn't based on the sit down experience or bar service…read more Keep that in mind. I still would rate this place pretty high because of the wonderful experience we had. There was probably 50-75 from my company and everyone felt like they were being taken care of. There was plenty of servers so it didn't feel too busy or waiting for food/drinks. The food, great. We only had appetizers/tapas and they just kept them flowing in. Every time food was finished / done, the next plate was coming. They were on top of their game. This was my first experience here and with it being so close to my office, I look forward to coming here again. Thank you Roanoke, see you soon! Personal Review: 8.4/10
