For me to be unimpressed with a server is a shocker because my mom was a server and I always give them the benefit of the doubt because they work so hard. I really wanted to like this place because it's so cute, has a good vibe and atmosphere and has some good healthy and food sensitivity options on the menu but unfortunately the food I ordered for breakfast wasn't good or impressive. I ordered the avocado toast with GF bread and superfood oatmeal, both not good. The avocado toast had no flavor and was too mushy and the oats were really blah. I ordered the oats after not enjoying or being able to eat the avocado toast. The chicken sausages were descent although I wish they offered sides with 1-2 chicken sausages as opposed to three sausages because three were way too many for one person. Also wasn't impressed with my young waiter. Never really went out of his way to make sure everything was good nor asked how the food was. I had to track him down a couple times to get his attention. Our first night in Chicago and we decided to venture out for dinner. It was a Tuesday night but this place was hopping (although thankfully not so hopping that we couldn't get a table). I had appetizers for dinner (something you can't do at home!) and had the whipped feta and the hot honey brussel sprouts. The feta was okay but a little lack luster- I could have eaten three orders of the brussels though- omg!! They were sweet and savory and cooked to PERFECTION. We came in for a brunch reservation, and while the food was good, the service was terrible. Our waitress came by our table at the beginning and messed up our drink order. We ordered two iced coffees and a lemonade but she brought out hot coffees and an iced tea. Then she took our order for food, and we basically never saw her again. She never checked on us, and it took forever to get the check. We wanted dessert but we had to go up to the counter to order because she never came back by our spot. This was a bummer because the food was solid. I had the avocado toast with tuna poke. It was yummy but I would have preferred a sourdough bread. My friend's steak looked great! And the lemon pancakes were amazing. My husband thought his tuna poke bowl was pretty good. I got an old fashioned donut from the case, and it was awesome! I would probably not recommend coming here for brunch if you care about the service aspect. Made reservations last minute for this place and we weren't disappointed! The place was PACKED so I knew we made the right choice. The only downside was we were sat within INCHES of the front door and waiting area so it was quite loud and busy near our seats. Our server was also working the bar so she wasn't as attentive as I would have liked but she was overall nice. I ordered the pour decisions and my friend had an espresso martini. My drink was very light and refreshing and the martini was perfect. My friend ordered the steak and eggs and I ordered the hot honey fried chicken sandwich. The kale and apple slaw was a nice touch to balance the heat and the fries were quite literally the most perfect fries I've ever had. I still think about them! The tomato and avocado could have used some oil or some citrus to pair it together it was pretty underwhelming. I was dining solo and originally sat at the bar, but asked to move to a table partially due to the bar not being wiped down. (I also moved due to accidently sitting next to a slob of an eater. That part is clearly not the restaurant's fault, just sharing that my other reasons.) I highly recommend this place if you are staying at the Aloft or are in the area. Great food and on par pricing. Good tea (ginger turmeric surprisingly smooth and good - a recommendation by the barista) with a separate pot of water, so you can drink more than one cup without harassing the barista. Great angel food cake cupcake. The seating was nice and comfortable; there was a big sofa and many nice soft chairs. It was bright enough to read but also dim and relaxed. Went for restaurant week. The food, ambiance, and service was great! 2 of us the hot honey chicken sandwich and thought the chicken was moist & the toppings and hot honey was delicious. Definitely hit though- if you don't like spicy I would request normal honey on the side (I did this!). Our other two friends had the enchiladas and thought they were delicious as well! They said they would order again. We all got the cream cheese coffee cake in the side and agreed it tasted extremely of cream cheese and not of the usual coffee cake spices- but it was still a good order! We loved it, just wasn't what we had expected from a coffee cake. Texture was nice and seemed freshly made. As for drinks, the bloody mary's are a hit. We definitely loved them and would get them here again! The iced dirty chai also was wonderful and I can't wait to get it again on our next visit to here. The Brussels sprouts were slightly spicy with a sweet flavor and the cauliflower had just the right amount of zip. The restaurant is nice and spacious and our server was very polite and helpful. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak & Eggs and my wife had the Oven Baked Brioche French Toast. Beatrix - 3 I had a wonderful dinner here with my 2 best friends. Parking can be challenging so plan ahead of time as this prime location is super busy all the time. We were able to get a table right away and they had some great happy hour deals going on at that time! I ordered the Lemon and Garlic chicken that came with Greek fries. Recommended by a local, Beatrix is a brunch place that is always bustling. We were able to snag a 1:15pm reservation the day of for three people. When we arrived, the restaurant was super full, but only the tables. The bar and high table/high chairs were not as full. They also have a bakery inside that had really good looking pastries, but I didn't even finish my breakfast so I didn't even look at them. It was a bit big so hard to bite, but it was super filling and the bacon was nice and crispy. A solid breakfast sandwich. This would have been a 5 except for the fact that the sandwich would have been on its own, which isn't bad, but I wish a side came with it. I ended up getting the golden hash browns on the side which I think actually was 5/5. They were extremely crispy on the outside, which is the way that I like them while the inside was still nice and soft. My friend got a quiche; I honestly cannot find what this dish is called on the menu, but it was pretty good as well. It was really fluffy eggs, but no meat, I believe it was mushrooms. The fresh-squeezed juice was recommended by the waiter and honestly was really delicious. The blue boost, each of the flavors was pretty distinguishable and you could tell that it was fresh. My husband and I ate here on a Sunday evening. It's a beautiful restaurant that was close to our hotel. Lots of outdoor seating, and some seating by the open windows. The restaurant felt open, airy, and modern. I decided to have the enlightened guacamole and a Caesar salad, while my husband got the Korean barbecue chicken special. I really enjoyed the guacamole. It had bits of pineapple, sun-dried, tomatoes, and some wonderful spices. The Caesar salad was delicious, and I even took some home and ate it for lunch today.
