My friends and I had planned for a nice graduation dinner at Bellevue, and we had such high hopes for the experience. It started out great with a beautiful view, but unfortunately everything went downhill from there. The restaurant was not busy upstairs, there were maybe only 3-4 other tables besides ours yet the service took absolutely forever. Our server was inattentive the entire night, and we waited nearly an hour before finally being told that they did not have bread service or the tomahawk available. It was one thing after another. We spoke with the manager regarding the experience, but after that we never saw him again. Eventually, our server simply brought the checks and we left. We stopped here for a late night drink and bite. The staff was so accommodating to help us sit outside since it was a Saturday night and inside was so crowded and loud. We got a banana espresso martini, glass of Chardonnay and split a crème brûlée. The banana espresso martini was more on the creamy side than I usually prefer but delicious. Crème brûlée is my GO TO dessert and this one did not disappoint. The outside ambiance is incredible, highly recommend. Had a great experience at The Bellevue Saturday night. The tuna tartare appetizer was outstanding, the Greek salad with salmon was fresh and perfectly balanced, and the marathon salad was excellent. The Doctor and I stopped in here for a quick meal after his fitting at Enzo Custom. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table. We were seated at our table and our server Cailyn immediately came over to take care of us. As it was late in the evening, we decided to get something a couple of dishes we could split. We started with the Meatball (San Marzano, Marinara, Cheesy Polenta) and Filet Sliders. Both of these were very good. I love the idea of a meatball with the cheesy polenta, that was so good. I have had polenta but never with a meatball and I loved it! The Filet Sliders are a must! That meat was soooo tender and juicy, cooked to perfection. That meat just melted in my mouth! Cailyn was nice enough to add an additional one to the order so The Doctor and I could both have two each. For dinner, we decided to split the Mafaldine Bolognese (Veal, Pork, Beef, Parmesan). Another great choice and good idea to split the dish as it was plenty of food for the night. I am a sucker for a good bolognese sauce and this was good, good, so good. But I will have to say that the winner for the night was the Lemon Pistachio Tart (Blueberry, Pistachio Strudel). Ok don't get me wrong, the food was amazing but this dessert was too delish! The flavor profile was amazing and delish! Honestly I see a meal of sliders and this dessert in my future as dinner, with some bubbles to wash it down. The Doctor got to enjoy the house beer, Bellevue Beer by Spiteful Brewing. He said it was tasty. The beer was served in an nicely chilled glass. Definitely a nice meal but an amazing dessert. The bartender kept up with the service bar requirements aplomb. So much so, those seated at the actual bar were unaffected nor deprived of attention. I ordered the Grilled Cajun Chicken Sandwich for $18, which came with Swiss cheese, onion, bacon, dill pickle chips, and chipotle aioli. It also came with crispy fries, which were delicious. In my opinion, the price was fair, and the food was great quality. I really enjoyed it. I also had a few drinks that all were well made. Happy hour at the bar took the sting out of a rainy evening on my inaugural visit to The Bellevue. Billed as a Neighborhood Social Club, the restaurant features a special weekday menu, available from 3 pm - 6 pm, including food (selected sushi rolls) and wine. When I visited, there were cocktail specials on offer. I opted for the French 75, as I had recently found that different places put their own spin on this classic cocktail and had a desire to try as many iterations as I could--my own personal Tour de France ;). The bar area is warmly lighted and inviting. I enjoyed sipping my cocktail, overhearing the bar banter, and eyeing the sushi rolls that were being enjoyed by patrons nearby. In addition to the bar seating, there are also a few high top tables in the area that were filling up by the time I finished my drink. When the two other members of my party arrived, we moved to the dining area. The menu is best described as contemporary American. I opted for a crab cake and my dining companions both chose the cashew chicken salad, with red and white wines by the glass, respectively. The food was fresh, and the server struck the right balance between giving us space to catch up and checking in to see if there is anything else that we needed. In addition to the bar and dining area there is an upstairs (not sure if this is for private events) as well as restrooms down a flight of stairs. We grabbed matchbooks from the hostess stand on our way out to commemorate the evening and appreciated this level of detail and nod to a bygone time in dining. read more

Very iconic touristy upscale restaurant with fabulously beautiful customers like you know who and exceptionally well trained staffs with smart service and expensive offerings matching the quality and speed at which it's served. The bartenders are by far the best, giving the best drinks and fill it up to tops with no regrets and quality of drinks and mixers are the best. There is no other downside to this top notch restaurant than the price at which even the most dedicated and wealthy patrons will find it somewhat cautious and careful! The calamari appetizer was very good but could be little more than what they served. The can beer was served very chilled with icy glass. The craft beer was excellent. I had scheduled a reservation for Chicago Cut for Christmas Eve, but then had a change of heart last minute and thought it would be nice to have dinner on Christmas Eve in the Gold Coast . Found out William was working and was able to snag a last-minute reservation for our Christmas Eve dinner. Our dinner was exceptional, and I was actually blown away by how good the food was !! Our server was very attentive and made sure that everything was perfect and refilled all of our drinks in a very timely manner. This place is actually realllllyyyyyyy cute inside! I was shocked by how cute and trendy this place is!! LOVED the upstairs and second bar upstairs as well! For the food we ordered Filet sliders 10/10 always LOVE these at Gibsons/Gibsons italia. They are just as good here! Just seemed like the buns were slightly smaller but still delicious and our filets were cooked to a perfect medium!! The fries- as always the BESTTTT fries! (No frozen bagged fries here) I believe these are cut in house. Only fries I'll eat! Spicy rigatoni- 10/10 Usually Gibsons italia is our fav for spicy rigatoni but I actually think I prefer this one!! Extra spicy, loved the noodles, creamy thick sauce and the peppers mixed in. SOOO GOOD!!! Meatball - 8/10 really good but slightly dry. Still Prefer Gibsons italia meatballs or Labriola. Bread service 8/10 the actual bread is sooo soft and doughy but could do without the poppy seeds. Dry but served with a cheese spread and a butter. I didn't care for the butter but the cheese spread we inhaled! Cocktails: Gingerbread espresso 10/10 not too sweet, great festive cocktail!! Conveniently located, Bellevue spans 2 floors of a beautiful building on Rush St. we had dinner upstairs which we prefer as the downstairs dining area is much louder due to the bar being downstairs. Manager and wait staff are very attentive and professional with the manager coming to our table at least twice to check on the food and service. The tuna tartare for an appetizer was the highlight for me. Delicately flavored with a hint of chilli sambal which gives a warm kick at the end of each mouthful. The octopus was cooked al dente which was perfect as opposed to the mushy flesh of overcooked octopus you get at many other places. Don't forget to order the bread service! Outstanding. Bellevue is the epitome of Gold Coast. Take that for what you will. My partner and I had reservations here after massages at Milk + Honey Spa around the corner and while the vibes in the restaurant are cool, the restaurant is a bit too bougie and overpriced for the quality of the food and I do think there is some confusion, at least in the main dining room as to what Bellevue wants to be. Is it a sports bar, or an upscale restaurant, or a combination of the two? Staff are dressed well, and are super hospitable and quick. Our server was constantly checking in on us which I appreciated. As far as food, we ordered the bread service, mashed potatoes and the arugula salad which were just fine. The real breadwinning dish for me was the pork chop, which I think was a special that evening. It was so good and tender and just the right amount of salty. I don't even really ever eat pork chops, but on this night I wanted to and I'm glad I did. Ultimately, I've just had better for less. Very much something tourists will love! read more

Great food, ambiance, location, and service! Bustling restaurant on the corner of a very lively area. Came here for dinner and was seated outside, it was a bit chilly but the heat lamps overhead helped. We ordered the meatball with polenta, Little Freddie burger, carbonara, and spicy broccolini. Everything was amazing! The portion sizes were good to eat solo or for sharing multiple plates like we did. The meatball was definitely big enough for 2 people to share and came on top of polenta and sauce that were made to perfection. The burger was great, it was juicy and the fries were perfectly soft with a nice crispy outside. The carbona threw me off a bit - it didn't have a creamy sauce like I was used to and instead had an oil based sauce that I wasn't a fan of. So it was quite greasy but not terrible. And the spicy broccolini was also done very well and had a nice kick to it, but too much oil. Overall I would definitely come back to The Bellevue as the food was great and service was as well. Our waiter came and checked on our table in a timely manner and was friendly and helpful. The ambiance is good for a date night, dinner with friends, or even solo dining. I was visiting family in Chicago and went to lunch with my son in law's 92 year old grandmother; she suggested we go to The Bellevue. We started with the Meatball, and I capitalized it for a reason. The picture I attached really doesn't do justice to the size; we easily split it. I always ask for extra marinara, in this case, San Marzano was noted on the menu and it was a delicious sauce. The pleasant surprise though, was the cheesy polenta, hidden under the marinara. It added a rich dimension to the sauce and I found myself eating some of it separately. The meatball itself was very tasty, seasoned perfectly, and tender. I did want to mention we ordered the 'bread option' with the meatball, and what a great decision that was. A large, warm round loaf was served with a few tasty spreads, but we opted to soak up the extra marinara with most of it. It was a very good bread. We both ordered the broiled salmon, which came with potatoes and a vegetable. After we had finished the meatball, and most of the bread, our server came back and told us, the restaurant had discontinued the salmon platter at lunch time. We could order a piece of salmon, which typically goes on top of salads, and she said we could order potatoes and a veggie separately, but not together (we could order a la carte). We were so full from the bread and meatballs and sauce, we just opted for a piece of the broiled salmon. The fish was very good; broiled nicely, tender and moist. It was an unusual lunch, but in the end, we had two delicious dishes and some wonderful bread! read more

I have been to Bellevue a couple of times since it changed from the old Tavern on Rush and its a solid replacement. Very popular joint and can get packed at any moment. Because of that fact, I normally grab a bar seat and have a pretty good time...always a vibrant atmosphere. Just an FYI, they take reservations if you want a table. There is an upstairs dining room and bar if its too packed downstairs. Jose Luis is an upstairs bartender thats very cool and great for conversation. Now onto the food! The Hamachi Tartare and Grilled Octopus are really good starters/appetizers. I was convinced by the upstairs bartender Jose Luis that the Fire Roasted Pork Chop would be great to devour and he was right. Very good piece of pork on top of apple chutney. I was told the rigatoni is very good so that will be my next dish here. Jose Luis even made me a special expresso ice cream dessert that isnt on the menu. Good presentation and good taste. I tend to always go with the Smoky Orchard when I come here as its a mezcal cocktail with compari, vermouth and spiced apple syrup...a great cocktail! Espresso martini is good as well.
