I questioned it, with the owner, who happened to be at the store. I was later told that the manager said I only received credit for the money I spent and would not be receiving the money that I earned in their so called loyalty program back. After having spent $1,000 at their store over the years, I apparently received a $50 credit to use at checkout. I was so excited as I didn't even know it existed! When I brought one of the items back that I purchased, to get a store credit, so I could get something else from their store, the manager said that I was given a "gift" of $50 and lost that when I brought the item back. It would have been nice of them to tell me I could exchange it for the same amount that was spent, but they never said anything. I'm not sure how they figure that into their "loyalty" credit, but was saddened by the disloyalty I received after having shopped there for so many years. They apparently care more about keeping $50 than they do earning $1,000. I still can't wrap my head around it. However, it left such a bad taste in my mouth that I won't be giving them my business. It's a small town and word gets around, when customers aren't treated with respect. As their sister store, Sage, is run by the same family, I also won't be supporting their business anymore. Sad day, as Just Because was my favorite boutique in the area.

Swank Boutique does not inform you about this little policy until AFTER you have purchased (it's printed on the bottom of the receipt): No cash returns, period. If you buy it and take it home and find out it doesn't actually work with the outfit you bought it for, you can ONLY return it for store credit (and that's only if you don't take the tags off and still have your receipt). If it's defective, they'll offer to fix it, but they still won't give you a refund. For a store where clothes average $100-$150, this policy is so lousy, I will never shop there again. If I shop at the Goodwill, and spend only $5, I expect this kind of a policy; when I hand over one hundred dollars, I expect to have the security that if what I paid for doesn't work out and is in 100% resellable condition, I can get my money back. Not only that, I would expect that an item I paid so much for should be replaced or refunded if it is defective. Additionally, if you have a problem, they will respond very rudely to you, including on their own Facebook page for all the world to see. This is the kind of business that's great if you never have a problem, but if you do, you'll never want to go back again because you will be treated horribly.
