This test was to see if the cancer is still in remission. We arrived at Basha Royal Oak to check in, were charged for the visit, undressed, and then told that the test could not be done due to labs that were needed prior to testing. When we asked why we were not given this information as part of the prep instructions, the young man at the front desk said, "It is not our responsibility to inform the patient of the labs it's the doctor's job." I asked for the manager, and the manager and "Mr. Basha" came out and accepted no accountability. He got loud, stating, "It was the damn doctor that ordered the test fault." He then started saying, "I have kidney cancer and prostate cancer too," in front of a lobby full of people. I told him that we were leaving due to him being rude AND violating HIPAA privacy laws, which I will be reporting!!! This place is a joke! GO TO RMI INSTEAD!!!

The girls at the front were very welcoming and assured me that I would be seen in just a few minutes. It was very quick service and the machine was wide and didn't interfere with my claustrophobia. I was comfortable in it. During my first appointment with Marna Taylor, she ordered bloodwork, prescribed medication for the oral thrush, and recommended physical therapy. I also mentioned concerns about acne, and she told me it was completely normal for my age and that I was probably perimenopausal. At my second appointment, I explained that the medication for my tongue had not worked. She prescribed a higher dose of the same medication. I also mentioned that physical therapy was not covered by my insurance and that I had researched the possibility of a gluten reaction. She agreed that sounded plausible. The appointment then shifted into a discussion about my health insurance premiums and coverage. I explained that I had marketplace insurance at the time because I was a freelance writer, and that I was comfortable with my monthly premium and willing to pay out of pocket if needed. Despite that, she told me she could not order additional thyroid bloodwork unless I personally called my insurance company, gathered all the billing codes, and found the prices for each test. She then ended the appointment, saying I was late, even though I had arrived on time. On the drive home, I realized she had never even reviewed my bloodwork results with me, which was the main reason for the visit. When I later checked the portal myself, I saw abnormal levels. When I went to refill the prescription she had given me, the pharmacist pulled me aside and said he was concerned it may have been prescribed incorrectly because the dosage was extremely high and aggressive. He advised me to call and confirm it. At that point, I decided not to continue care here. I later paid out of pocket for bloodwork from Function Health, which showed significant thyroid issues. I then found a new doctor who told me it was preposterous to suggest I was likely perimenopausal at 34 without proper evaluation, and I have since been receiving treatment for my thyroid condition. This experience felt dismissive, unhelpful, and poorly managed. I would not recommend wasting your time or money here.

Why is allowed that some moron sitting behind a cubicle in Minnesota allowed to override my sports dr opinion and treatment? Anyway, the staff here at MRI of Southfield are friendly, explain things as we go along, professional and accommodating. Just FYI, the same MRI at Henry Ford is $415.00 and they were scheduling into October. We will definitely come back for any imaging needed in the future.

I felt very comfortable with her. It's a quick and easy experience. I would have loved to give them 5 stars because I am true believer in this company but the girl behind the front desk did not give me a great first impression. When I walk into a company I want to be greeted in a way where I feel they are happy to see me. I mean, that person is the face of the company at that point, and with Thermascan being kind of the "underdog" of breast exams, I think a more upbeat, "alive" greeting would have been great! I was already feeling a bit vulnerable, always a little nerve wrecking waiting on results and such. I can't be the only one, right?!:) Maybe I expect more since I myself work behind a desk of a company and I make sure every single person that walks in that door is going to want to come back.
