I used to enjoy going to Beau's for the food, nice atmosphere and kind staff... until I called one day to inquire about whether the restaurant was open for indoor dining in the wake of the statewide reopening. Reason: I had heard two different sources give two different dates and I was confused. I was met with a very sarcastic and unexpected comment from the person who answered the phone, the manager herself, whom I recognized from her voice. She's assisted me in the past with orders and I can tell she's not the gentlest person around but this was very uncalled for. I used to be a regular and I was so disgusted by her comment that it took me some time to patron the restaurant again. Based on the high recommendations of the friends we were with, the 4 of us decided to head here (2 have been here many times before, 2 of us were from out of town). The disappointment 3 of us had with our food makes me wonder if there's a new chef, or what changed from the "wow you can't miss this place." First, if you don't know how to cook steak, don't have it on the menu. It looked great from the outside when it came out (wood fired, nice black lines on top), but was rare on the inside (ordered it medium), as in not even close. Came out again 15 minutes later, completely charred on the outside...a high rare/low medium rare on the inside. That means your grill is up WAY TOO HIGH. Refused to send it back a 3rd time, especially after the server said "oh we normally serve it pink" and just ate the fries. I will eat a medium rare steak even though I order medium, that wasn't even close. The two people who got burgers were disappointed as well. One was so completely burnt (again, server said it was wood-fired so was supposed to be) that when I tried theirs all you could taste was a dry, burnt burger. The other one was close, but he ate it because he was hungry. I've been to plenty of wood-fired grill places, never had an issue with any of this. 2 of us just ate the fries. We asked to see the manager, never came out, the server just tried to deal with it herself we believe and never told the manager how awful our meal was. Refused to pay for the steak, and went home once person 4 was finished with their meal. This was all at 5:30 on a Tuesday, so wasn't too crowded yet. If this place was great before, it definitely isn't now. Not a chance any of us would ever go here again, even though the fries were good. I want a good meal, not just a good side. read more

Overall, everything was just okay... I'm going to start with what i liked The Good: -The decor is really nice- definite improvement from the old beau jacks. I didn't notice any issues with noise like previous reviews. Furthermore, the bar has this awesome library theme going on- very cool. -The server we had was very nice and attentive. The manager also came by to check on us and I liked that. -The coffee was good... - I liked the onion loaf and chicken wings appetizer. - I didn't order the BLT but those at the table who did order it enjoyed it. - ice cream is from Rays Ice Cream! Way to support local companies! The Bad - I think the menu is overpriced for what you get. I ordered the grilled shrimp, they were small, and nothing to brag about. Furthermore, it is literally just 2 shrimp skewers, nothing with it. For $23, it didn't not even resemble a meal in my opinion. I ordered the Mac and cheese with, and that was good. - the corn cakes were honestly not even edible. Cold and super mushy. - The lamb chops were very small and honestly boring. I think the restaurant has potential but needs a serious menu revamp. I did not enjoy the menu as much as Social's menu... This place no longer feels like a community staple.... Horrible customer service!! I asked for my hamburger well done and half of it was raw! I showed the waitress and she said we can put it back on the grill(after I ate off of it...really! That's unsanitary) or give me a cookie. Very poor customer service! Oh and by the way if you are allergic to seafood, don't go here because they cook the steak, chicken, burgers, shrimp and fish all on the same grill using the same tongs and spatula! 2 1/2 stars would be appropriate. We had a private dinner for 14 people on a Saturday night. 14 is not a large crowd. Some of the cocktails came wrong. The appetizers were great. The problems started when the entrees were served. One guest was brought the wong entree 3 times and finally took what they brought rather than wait even longer. Another guest got theirs 15 minutes after everyone else. Not everything was hot. The "power grains" were awful. Warm, dry, and absolutely tasteless. No seasoning at all. The steaks were the best choice (when they came). They should be able to handle a meduim size group like this much better. read more

I've been eating at Beau Jack's for over 30 years - always enjoyed the food and the dark, quiet atmosphere. Service was always great, and it was a unique dining experience. I decided to try Beau's, hoping not too much had changed. Huge disappointment. All of the partitions and other decor have been stripped down to nothing. The restaurant looks more like a Coney Island than anything else now. Our waitress was extremely slow, and took about 10 minutes to fetch a water and a beer. They charged $16 for a very salty burger, and $3 extra for some saltier fries. Overall, a really bad meal. I will not be going back. read more

4 of us ate for dinner the other night. 2 of us ordered the white fish and when it arrived the portions were extremely small. The fish was about 1/3 of the previous white fish size before Covid. We sent the fish back and the manager said they changed suppliers of fish. The price was $30 for the small white fish and a small portion of rice....what a rip off! Not really disappeared, but didn't return for a long while. We ordered a burger; no appetizers, etc. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We flagged her down and asked if our order was arriving any time soon. No apology, just "we are short staffed, and backed up." I understand, I was a training waitress at Manchus Red Fox. Beau's is a reliable good night out. Everyone can find something they'd like on the menu, and the decor is very cool. Try to get one of the brass top tables next to the kitchen - you can see right in and watch your steak on the grill! Awesome all around! My group of 4 people got to sit at a cool high top booth right by the kitchen - so we could see everything being made which was awesome. Appetizers - you've got to get the chicken wings - they are so super flavorful and you'll just go YUMMMM when you take a bite. Grilled Artichoke also amazing - you get three of them large ones - grilled to perfection for main - i went with 3 sides for $18 which is UNREAL especially if you'd like to try a bunch of items - which i did! went with the asparagus - huge juicy perfect, spaghetti squash - which was tasty and loved it, as well as the quninoa fried rice which had perfect crunch! can't wait to be in the area to go back only bummer is they do not have espresso shots. read more

OK, so I went herefor the first time since the remodel for lunch today with a friend. We ordered soup salad and a sandwich. When the salad came out there was a big hair in it and I asked to see the manager. They only made excuses and said this never happens. They offered to take the salad off the bill. My friend had the clam chowder and said that it was pretty good but that it took forever to get our sandwich and again nothing but excuses from our server this time. I then asked to see the manager again and another gentleman came to greet me and said that he was taking everything off the bill and that he was very sorry. We love the new update to the building As far as the food goes, we can't say enough of how delicious the New England Clam Chowder was. Every bite had a spoon full of clams! I have been frequenting Beau's for several years. After our dinner experience tonight I won't be coming back. I understand that kitchens can run out of menu items, however we were made aware of one item at the start of dinner and then we were informed of several more after the fact. I wanted to give the waitress the benefit of the doubt as she doesn't have control of kitchen items, but the service was poor. She told us an item wasn't available to find out later it was. She forgot to bring items and then brought the wrong items. The salmon on the salads were over cooked. We asked for no pine nuts in the hummus due to an allergy and they brought the dish with nuts. We didn't send it back. I know this sounds like I'm piling on, but it was honestly one thing after another tonight. Very disappointed with the overall experience. read more

I love their salads , between certain hours of the day you can customize your own salad which I love because I don't like ordering specific salads from other restaurants because I don't like the way restaurants dress their toppings. You can see the kitchen and cooks while they prepare your meal through a glass wall; they cook meats and vegetables on a wood-fire grill and the best tables are where you can peak over and look at what they prepare. We went to Beau's for a team dinner. We had a large party of 14 people. We had a nice large table that had some privacy, which was nice given that the restaurant is quite open and gets really loud. We had appetizers of hummus with lamb, chinese short ribs and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were very flavorful, with peanuts and a reduced balsamic sauce. The short ribs were perfectly sticky, fall off the bone, just as I hoped. The hummus was good, but not my favorite of the three. Dinner salads are huge with homemade dressing. I had the 1/2 chicken and smashed potatoes for dinner. It came with a crispy skin and tender meat. The service was very good even with 14 people ordering drinks, appetizers, dinners, special orders, etc. Overall a very nice experience. read more

Last evening my wife and I dined with another couple at Beau's. It was a disappointment at best. We were seated and placed our order quickly. From there we waited about 45 minutes for our salads. Just my wife and I had salad. I had croutons on my salad. I began eating and realized the croutons were burnt. (Black). The salad tasted like charcoal. I asked my server to please redo my salad. I waited 15 additional minutes for the replacement salad and finally approached the front desk. I asked to speak with a manager. A woman came and asked me what was wrong. I explained the situation and she smiled and said, "I am sorry". I asked her to cancel my salad (and if it had arrived to take it back) as the other couple have not eaten anything in over an hour and to move to the entree's. I returned to the table and my salad had arrived. The manager came over and asked me if "I did not want to enjoy my salad" and have her take it away. I told her that was what I asked her at the front desk and to please move on to our entrees. She then proceeds to ask the exact same question again, where I was adamant that we all were hungry, and we would like our entree's. The entrees came about 10 minutes later. I had the steak frites and was unimpressed with gray drab steak they delivered. Much to all our surprise at the table, no manager ever came and checked on us. There was no offer for a desert, a cup of coffee or an adjustment to the bill. Overall the experience is one I would expect at a poorly run fast food chain. read more

I'm really confused about the poor reviews and really sad that it almost made me cross this place off the list before even visiting it. Luckily my husband and I had two independent trusted foodies reassure us that it was worth the visit. We went for Friday Happy Hour and was not disappointed. The atmosphere is amazing, I'm a little biased because as we walked up there was snow gathered on the gabled roof reminded me of Harry Potter. We sat at the bar and got settled in, comfortable seating and even the shortest of people could have a place to rest their feet. We looked over their happy hour menu and settled on Gypsy vodka drink, my husband had a bourbon drink(off happy hour menu). We ordered the Hummus and Lamb and the Flash Fried Brussels which actually complimented each other nicely. I am super duper picky about hummus, while this wasn't the smoothest I've ever had, the flavor was outstanding. The Brussels weren't just Brussel sprouts all alone, they had jalapenos and spices. When we ran out of pita for the hummus and requested more we were let know of the approximate time it would take around 10 minutes. Now that may put some people off, but it told me they were toasted them off fresh and not it wasn't just sitting under some heat light waiting for the order. Once we ordered we had a moment to relax and look around we started to notice the amazing details. As you look up from the bar you are surrounded by bookshelves loaded with books, giving you a warm fuzzy feeling. Don't worry they don't take themselves too seriously, there are portraits in the back seating area representing actors as old school military officers. This included Robin Williams, Clint Eastwood and more. I would recommend this place and if you are not sure, start with happy hour and make sure to order the hummus and lamb. read more

I kid you not I ordered a skillet with scrambled eggs, avocado, Swiss cheese, mushrooms, jalapeños and bacon. I received a skillet with spinach, onions,and avocado and some sort of egg. I was very disappointed. The bartender or server seemed like he could have cared less.
