Drove here on a Wednesday evening for hustle night. Parking lot is quite small. Had to walk through the restaurant in order to get to the attached venue. By the time one girl got her drink, it was literally watered down. I found that absolutely ridiculous, especially with the restaurant being 85% empty. So I ended up not ordering anything. My friend ordered some wings and when they finally arrived, it was about 8 wing dings for $20, but they were half off that night so technically she paid $10. I also found the menu prices to be overly expensive for such simple foods. I went here with my friend for a little girls night. We wanted to see the live music. This spot was recommended to me by a person that I met at a Bourbon festival a weeks back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is on some if you know you know type of deal. This is not a big deal, as the place wasn't crowded, and we figured we'd go over the 90 minutes if we did. It wouldn't be an issue. Our server was rushing us through our order when the last person in our party arrived. She walked over immediately and asked for our order. We asked the server if she could give us a few minutes while our friend looked over the menu, and she told us she would start the opposite way our food came, and I must say we all enjoyed what we ordered, but one thing we noticed is that she never came over to clear the table. Maybe that was an indication of our 90 minutes at the table: we were listening to the live music, enjoying ourselves, and I attempted to order another drink. The server came back to me and said we were over our table time. We couldn't order a drink, which is pretty weird considering we closed out our tab and would be opening up a whole other tab, which they would've charged us more in gratuity and another entertainment fee. I'll get to that point. At one point, someone wanted to buy one of my friends a drink, and the waitress came over and asked her what she would like, which perplexed us because we were just told that our table time was up. My friend politely declined the offer, and we actually went back and forth with it. They were letting us stay. They weren't letting us stay. They were letting us stay, but we couldn't order anything to. They needed the table, so we just got up and left. There is an additional fee for credit or debit card use, so bring cash if you would like to visit this establishment. Also, if your party is more than four people, they will charge you gratuity, and they're also going to charge you an entertainment Fee each, so keep that in mind when going. Now, I don't mind live music, but I think what instruments are played and how loudly in this establishment needs to be considered. This is a hidden gem right on Maple and Farmington in the old Lark space. So few locations offer live music, this was a treat. The band and singer were great. The menu doesn't fit the fancier ambiance, lots of fried food but everything we tried was good. Great truffle fries, turkey sliders and wings. Very limited wine selection and no Prosecco or Champagne by the glass. Our cocktails were very sweet so my suggestion is to stick to classic drinks from the full bar. I visited Knock Twice Speakeasy multiple times, even spoken to the owner maybe once or twice. However, this last visit was quite surprising and appalling, usually that's what happens when people get to comfortable and don't understand who is actualy visiting their establishment. I visited this establishment hoping it could bring the sophistication and service of a place like The Edison in LA to Farmington or Michigan. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment due to one insecure doorman. My business partner and I were enjoying our evening, generously tipping the singer and staff, when a man in a tight, ill-fitted grey sweater approached us and rudely gave us a time limit at our table. Mind you we have been here numerous times, evaluating the establishment and what could be done better, and never given a time limit, especially when we spend money. And we have enough to buy the poorly ran establishment. As a business owner in LA, I know how crucial it is to recognize and value clientele. In cities like Los Angeles, hospitality and professionalism are prioritized to build lasting relationships, you never know - who is who. Detroit, however, continues to lag behind, and this encounter is a glaring example. What I've learned in Detroit, is individuals like the guy in the tight Walmart sweater, Is an example of The Story of Little Black Sambo. He only behaves right when he is approached or spanked by someone he think he knows or someone who could dismantled the entire establishment, typical Detroit mentality. "Poor man's mentality." The man's dismissive attitude and unprofessional remark--"You can be Donald Trump, but you've got to go"--showed a complete lack of understanding of how to treat patrons. His narrow-minded behavior not only ruined our experience but also squandered an opportunity for the establishment to make a positive impression, way beyond the small city of Farmington. Hence, if you want to know what a real Speakeasy is, look up The Edison in LA, you have no idea. And you've made it bad for the young owner who is trying to create an atmosphere that does not exist in narrow-minded Detroit. As a native Californian, I can confidently say that this kind of approach will not stand the test of time. Detroit businesses, especially black-owned ones, cannot afford to alienate patrons if they hope to succeed. Especially, when you piss off individuals that give you your licenses. Me and my co-workers attended this place . We had a great time and the music was nice. The food was very delicious. The 3 of us just shared what we purchased and sampled off each other's plate. Took a while for food to come though. Drinks were a little pricey,especially in this economy today. Seemed like a mixed crowd ,a little young with older crowd .
