Checked out this spot for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food fantastic but the service was exceptional not just from our awesome waitress George, but the management as well. My friend and I decided to order a bunch of different things and just share and I'm so glAd we did because I would have been upset had I not gotten a chance to try everything. The crispy Brussel sprouts were great, they were chopped finely and fried along with jalapeños delicious. Their blueberry lemon curd waffles were amazing sweet and tangy and all around great. I regret the need to write this review. Beau's used to be one of our favorite places. We have been disappointed in recent visits by the removal of favored menu items and increasing lapses in management despite friendly service. The gaps in time between our visits have lengthened in recent years. Last night's visit was especially unfortunate. More than an hour elapsed for us to be served out of order. My wife and I woke this morning feeling lingering effects from the food. It is long past time for ownership to step in vigorously and right the ship. read more

I went here for lunch with reservations bc this place gets busy. I also had hesitation about coming here because of the other reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered one of their salads (Brussels sprouts, cranberries etc salad) and I really liked it! I was quite surprised that it was that good and great size. They also have an option to create your own salad which was pretty neat and I'll probably do that next time. All of us had salads and everyone really liked their salads....I can't vouch for their other food. It's like an upscale diner to me...good crowd, very busy and quick service. I'm not running back, until I'm in the mood for that salad again....oh, they also gave me a free dessert for my birthday. Very nice gesture which is probably why they get a 4 and not 3! read more

So so food during happy hour. Surprisingly, the Brussels sprouts were the best. Pretty standard fare otherwise. The steak bits were almost raw. The waiter wanted to take them off the bill but the hostess/ manager balked saying that's how they're supposed to be prepared. Blaming the waiter for not explaining that when ordered. My visit to Beau's was an impulse decision. This is my first visit since the remodel. The space is very nice. I arrived a bit before noon - the first customer of the day. Jorge greeted me and seated me promptly. Within 15 minutes ~15 other customers had arrived. Amber(?) was my server. She was prompt, attentive & knowledgeable throughout the meal and she kept my water glass full. I ordered the tuna melt. It was a very good tuna melt. The crispy/charred onion shreds on the top were pretty, but they were as advertised, charred. Not my favorite flavor. I brushed them to the side. Tip: The entrance is on the east side of the building, not the two doors on the front. Will I return? Yes. WiFi is available. It is safe-enough to use for any services that require a login. While in town for an event met some friends here. I have not been here in over 40 years when it was called Beau Jacks. Nice atmosphere albeit a little loud. Server was very attentive and friendly. Since this was new he gave us time to look over the menu. I ordered a salad which was very good. My G/F ordered a burger and that looked very good. Based on my first experience, it's better than you might think. First: you're not going to go wrong with sitting at the bar during Happy Hour with Steve as your bartender/server. Steve is incredible at his job, and you want Steve to have your money. Believe me, he'll earn it. He made me an absolute Home Run of a cocktail in the Pepto Punch tonight, and while it wasn't cheap, it was *worth it*. More than that, though, Steve knows his craft. Being a bartender is about more than mixing a solid cocktail (though that's certainly a leading prerequisite), it's about doing a bunch of different jobs at once while almost acting like you're doing nothing at all but interacting with your customers. It's not easy, and Steve makes it look that way. Steve is a *terrific* listener when you're talking about what you like, dislike, or are thinking of ordering when it comes to food and drink. Steve is there to help. You like Steve. Too, other than just the beverage program, you'll really like the food. The Asian Sticky Ribs at $7 during Happy Hour are *exactly* where you want to be. The Bar Burger? At $5 it's a pittance, but its flavors weren't my favorite...the bun/pickle combination threw me for a loop, but the meat itself was quite nice! New Englad Clam Chowder at $7 all the time is another very easy bet for a good payoff. Lots of reasons to be happy with this establishment based on my initial visit. Several reasons to go back, happily so. This is another example of a terrific Happy Hour in the Detroit area. Avail yourself of it, and you'll understand the draw, I'd say. read more

I'd love to give five stars as that's how my experience started out. Service, atmosphere and food all great to begin with. However towards the end of the dinner an extremely rude waitress came over and told us to leave. There was none of normal exchange as one would expect when a restaurant is closing. Which would've been fine to say: "Hey guys need anything else? We're closing in 30 min". There were many other people still eating. She came over, said " you know we're closed already so..." and started cleaning the table, I moved the plates closer to her so she didn't have to reach. She just dropped everything and huffed and puffed away. Very strange behavior for a restaurant of this caliber. Not sure if I want to go back and experience this again. We're all stressed, we're all overworked, I get it. But hospitality is a restaurants main objective and Beaus didn't hit it last night, unfortunately. read more

My husband and I had a great date night here! We rate this restaurant 4-stars for high quality food & drinks and good service. We would highly recommend the hummus and lamb appetizer - it comes with warm, thick pieces of fresh pita in a generous size portion with pomegranates on top of the hummus which was a creative touch The French fries also came in a generous portion and were thin cut, greasy, and amazing Not too salty If in season, you MUST order the cauliflower side dish. We ate it in about 10 seconds Biggest reason this is not a 5-Star is because of the price point. We are willing to pay a premium when food quality & creativity exceeds our expectation. Second chance was a bad as the first. Terrible slow service. Overpriced food. Who burns broccoli and serves it? Whitefish filet looked like it was beaten with a hammer... some sort of olive topping was hiding the fact that half the filet was actually missing. Then our food arrived, out of the four dishes we ordered only one was made correctly. It's not like we had specific requests they literally left off items listed on their menu! Beau's was a pleasant surprise to me and my family. This is an updated version of the restaurant that was here before and seems to be an improvement. We came here when I was home over Thanksgiving with my mom, stepdad, and grandparents. All of us found something that we really enjoyed on the menu, and the decor is stylish while still maintaining some of the old-time boys' club feel of the last iteration. The sweet potato fries with the May-BQ (mayo + BBQ sauce) are delicious. The sweet potato fries are mainly a vehicle with which to shovel more of the delicious sauce in your mouth, but hey, who cares? The veggie burger that my mom ordered she loved, and my grandmother thought the salad she had was especially good. In my opinion, a salad is a salad is a salad, so this one must have been stand-out to earn special praise. The drink and cocktail menu are robust. I had a delicious combination of vodka, cheery, and lime that was sweet but not sickly. There are plenty of beers and wine to choose from as well. read more

A very old rustic eatery. Bathrooms are descent and clean. Floor is greasy so you might slip and slide. Management does a very nice job of welcoming its guests. Food is good! Ordered 2 salads that were very tasty. Clam chowder Soup was hot and had a nice kick to it. Bread at table was very good. Server was a little slow and could have been better on discussing the specials but she never did. Overall, nice eatery, reminds me of an old mob movie. read more

They checked in on us during the event and attended to every need promptly efficiently and in a very friendly, professional manner. Last Friday I celebrated my birthday with eight other friends. I ate real light and dined on Brussels sprouts and fries. The sprouts were a little dark and seem to have a bitter and strong taste, later that evening I became really ill, the kind of ill that you are glad to live alone. I phone the manager the following day, she assured me she would get to the source of the problem and would phone me with a response...I am still waiting for that call! So I had the same experience as the previous review on here regarding the sandwiches. Last time I came and had the rotisserie Turkey sandwich....it was hands down the best sandwich I have ever had anywhere in the world, served on a crispy French Baguette....absolutely amazing....kind of expensive at $17 but well worth it. Yesterday went back and ordered the same , but on this occasion a small sandwich arrived with thinly sliced bread, a very poor and unsatisfying version of the original. I do not know why they changed the format but it is a big step backwards and will not be going back again. Question to Beaus: What's going on ?????!!!!!! read more

This was our second visit to Beau's, it was very good and we will definitely be back. Becca, our server, was cute and fun all wrapped up with a very professional demeanor. She suggested the lamb hummus which came with flavorful soft pita bread... Sooo good. I chose the salmon as my entree, it was served with just the right amount of sauce underneath. In addition, it came with broccoli which was smoky and flavorful with perfect texture (not too soft). My boyfriend had the shrimp which had snap. We finished meal with an expresso martini which was soft and not too sweet. The food here is simply Beau-tiful (sorry...couldn't resist). Brunch: They feature endless mimosas-5 different flavors-and AMAZING customizable skillets. They also have a pretty extensive bloody mary bar...(if you're the type of person who likes turning your alcohol into a salad). The French toast is also a must try! Dinner: My go-to combo is the blackened bleu burger with a side of their loaded mashed potatoes. I know it's nothing fancy, but my taste buds always thank me. I've also tried their wings, which were delicious & full of flavor. Drinks/Atmosphere: The night bartender is great, and mixes up creatively delicious martinis that pack a niiiice punch. It has been some years since I've been back to beau's, but needless to say, I was looking forward to it. However, the menu has changed and my experience there wasn't the best. I remember before they had hearty sides like Mac and cheese (which was delicious). Now most of their sides were geared towards a healthier approach such as salads, broccoli, and chick pea type dishes. That's in addition to already having a salad section on the menu. They did have fries and mashed potato's but I think that's about it for fatty, unhealthy type of sides. I will say though, the mashed potatoes were delicious. Loaded and very creamy. So to start, the waitress tells us they were out of starter bread, the half chicken entree , one of the desserts and a few other items I can't remember. So that limited some options for us. We ordered wings and Brussel sprouts to start. The wings were good but I wouldn't rave about them. It had a lemony Parmesan taste to it which was intriguing. The Brussels sprouts were odd. It was like tiny fried shavings of Brussel sprouts (I think) but not the actual ball of Brussel sprout. I'd compare it to tiny onion straws and it kind of tasted like that too, so I'm not really sure if there was even much Brussel sprout in there lol. The waitress forgot about bringing me my coke a couple times. Not a huge deal but I don't blame her too much for forgetting because it was packed in there, however I do expect to be serviced properly. The Caesar salad was fine. Not ultra delicious or impressive. My hamburger was a fiasco. I ordered it medium and asked to add tomato and lettuce and extra pickles with cheddar instead of American. I received it almost well done and the house sauce and onions were missing. So I sent it back and waited for my new order. And they brought me another burger with only cheese pickles and sauce on it. Forgot everything else. Even forgot the huge side of chips that originally came with it. On top of it, it was completely well done. More than the previous one! So I decided to keep it and eat it but asked for it to be comped and asked for my chips and accompaniments I wanted with it. The burger still tasted delicious and probably would have been even better if it was cooked to my liking. I really liked their sauce they put on it. At the end we ordered the Apple skillet ice cream dessert and peanut butter Oreo dessert. Both were good and the apple one was preferred among the guests at my table. I would have liked to see other dessert menu options like some kind of cake or brownie or chocolatley type dish, but they don't have that here. I won't return to beau's not completely because of the lack luster service and mistakes because things happen, but I wasn't impressed with the menu options and was not happy with the changes they made to it over the years. read more

Beaus is going the wrong way. Cutting corners on the quality of the food and charging more is a bad move. They now slice up deli meat for the Maurice Salad and you get Texas toast for the chicken club. They are also charging you more than the menu prices for drinks. read more

The best burgers in town. Fabulous service. Easy to do to-go orders and everything is always packaged with consideration - nothing is ever spilled or soggy. All the sandwiches are delicious, especially the grilled chicken club. The chicken itself on that sandwich was so tender and flavorful, I could eat it plain. Other items we enjoyed were the Maurice salad, grilled whitefish and crispy Brussels sprouts. We loved the acidic taste of the whitefish from all the lemon and herbs. The jalapeño, cilantro and mint made these Brussels stand out from the common ones we see at every restaurant nowadays. I would definitely order them again. My grandma would be happy if this is the only place she ever ate at again! Next time I visit here I want to try out their happy hour. read more

The couple behind us walked up and asked for the same thing and the hostess actually went and looked to see if a table was available for them and had the tables cleaned. Food is good. Service was good friendly up to a point. After it got busier we never saw our server anywhere nearby. We waited 45 minutes after we were done eating to get our bill. No desert mentioned or offered. We had to actually get up and approach her to get our bill. We also saw the manager do absolutely NOTHING the entire time except hold up a wall behind the bar. He never lifted a finger to help out any of the servers. When we finally got our bill and walked to the parking lot we did see him taking a cigarette break behind the building. read more

I'm shocked this place only has 3 stars. The ambiance is lovely- leather tufted couches, with industrial touches. Very well designed. We were seated promptly and our waiter was friendly, attentive and gave us a run down of the menu, mentioning a few of his favorites. My husband is super picky about his burger, he ordered the Black & Bleu and absolutely loved it. I had the French Dip and enjoyed that as well. The bar area was really cute too- the ceiling opens up to books lined on the walls. Marble bar tables & a TV if your catching a game. I would come back just to enjoy a drink in that beautiful bar area. Great vibe, great service & good food! We will definitely return! read more
