Had balayage. Not going to name names on who did it. I came in there with already blonde balayage but needed a root touch up. It was my first time here since I moved and my regular colorist is too far from me now. I asked the colorist, "it's going to stay blonde, right?" She said yes. I hate any other color than blonde on my hair - I've had it for years. After the coloring was done, some other lady blew dry my hair to see the color, it was an ashy chocolate looking color, almost grey... I told her I was unhappy so the colorist put toner in it. The other lady blew dry it again and it still looked chocolate, not blonde, but at least not grey... so I said oh okay maybe it'll become lighter when I wash it out more a few times and so I paid them and left. It had been 3 weeks since and my hair got lighter brown but not blonde so I called them and told them I need them to fix it because this is not what I wanted and it did not get lighter. I paid over $300 + tip for this, I want it fixed. When I called them to make an appointment to fix it, I recognized the voice due to her accent and it was the lady who blew dry my hair that day. She immediately just said, "you should've called us a week after." I said well, I've had balayage done for years and the color doesn't come out in just a week, it takes at least 2 weeks and you guys didn't tell me that when I got my hair done. In which she replied, "every salon is like that," very condescendingly as if I haven't been doing balayage and going to salons for over 20 years... plus I've been too busy with work to make an appointment any sooner but the point is that my hair hasn't lightened and that says a lot if it has been 3 weeks. She also asked if I used purple shampoo and that helps... again, I'm not new to this and purple shampoo does not lighten your hair. It makes it ashier. It would have been professional of her if she would've just made my appointment and minded her business since she didn't do my hair. When I did get to the salon, the colorist that worked on my hair bleach washed it so yes it did get lighter to my liking. I asked the colorist if this color could have been achieved on our first session and she said yes so I'm not sure why it wasn't bleach washed in the first place. When we were done with my fix up, I asked if they were going to charge me and she said, "only for the glaze" she used. The glaze was $65 + tip to the colorist and the assistant which I don't think they should have charged me at all since it was a fix up. I even asked my previous hair stylist if he would charge a fix up and a glaze if he used it for a fix up and he laughed and said no he would never. On top of that, I look at their website and the glaze lists as $60. It's not a big difference but it's the principle of things. It was a very nice looking place but the customer service was not up to par to put it kindly. read more

Very disappointed... I made two appointments for my daughter to have hair extensions put in and styled for upcoming prom. The first appointment was for a trial prior to prom date. Our appoint time was for 11am .I called to tell them we were 2 min away as it was approaching 11 am in case we were a min late . She asked for our name and said it looks like your appointment was switched with someone else let me check .So receptionist returned to phone and said Jackie said come at 12 .So we said ok and turned back home which was two towns over . We drove back at 12 and we were told to sign in and wait.So we waited for 20 min and then someone walked over to my daughter and said Jackie would not be able to see her for another 25 minutes or so. She said iif we want to leave and go do something and come back later we could or we could wait .So we left and drove around and I thought if they are this unprofessional why would we use them on the day of the prom! First the time switch .Then no phone call to say she was running late and no apology for time switch or not honoring appointment time. I would not recommend using this company .They may have a few good hairdressers but they definitely need to train staff and teach social etiquette to a few of their employees . read more

This place made me bald. Yes. Bald. They put a 40 volume developer on my direct scalp, leaving me with chemical burns. I was visibly upset as I told them I was in pain and they laughed at me and told me "all scalps matter". In the following days, my hair slowly fell out. I told the owner, joe zito, about the pain I was feeling and he told me to stop protesting. I told him I have a right to be upset and then he called me a snowflake and pulled out a gun on me. Beyond this, the entire place smells like sulfur, Drakkar Noir, and eggplant parmigiana at all times. Do not give this thug any business! read more

The style and precision of the cut was spot on, adding (long lost) volume and body back to my hair! I no longer need to coax my hair with styling products and excessive blow drying - soooo awesome! I love to have found a stylist that knows how to work with ALL styles and hair types (let's face it - things change as you age) but my trouble spots are a thing of the past! Not even sure where to start... I had a makeup done for a party. The girl who did my make up did not have an ounce of experience. The quality of the cosmetics she used was so poor that my make up started to run or cake up 30 mins after i got back home. On top of it half of my lash became undone. I did not have time to go back to have it fixed as I had to be at the party that was 3 hours away. So i fixed it myself on the way there. I called the salon to complain about my experience and i happen to get an owner on the phone. I requested a refund and was asked why was I calling 3 hours after my make up was done and not earlier?!?! I did not even offered an apology. What I was offered was a complementary service! I did not need another make up as I do not attend formal parties often. I asked again for the refund to be met again with a firm NO from the owner. I was honestly shocked by the owner's attitude... rude and unhelpful Will never go back and advise you to choose a different business read more

Maureen was recommended because she is at the same level as Helen was to do the cut. I found her to be very interested in what I was looking for and came up with a cut that I am so happy with. i got a dye job here and had the absolute everloving shit burned out of my hair during the lifting. i made it very clear i had dry hair already but i swear to god, my stylist just...forgot about me?? by the time i had the bleach out it was basically brittle straw. everything else was fine i guess and the color itself looked good after but because my hair was beyond damaged, i needed about a gallon of product in it to make it even remotely soft, and ofc it went straight back to being dry after my first wash. i wasn't able to use shampoo for weeks, just had to vinegar rinse/dry shampoo until my hair recovered. if you want a haircut i suppose this place works but based on my experience it's a coin toss whether they'll actually listen to what you say. next time i'll dye it at home. read more

I have been on the hunt for a long time to find a hair salon that I could feel at home with and was life changing for my hair. After tons of research, I came across Luminez Salon! I was intrigued about this calligraphy cut, after seeing all the amazing yelp reviews and photos of all the clients I knew I HAD to find out for myself. But I knew I had to book with the best of the best from seeing all the photos and reading all the comments, I had to have my hair done by the famous duo Helen for cut & Marni for color. The moment I walked into the salon, I was warmly greeted by the receptionist and right away was loving all of the girls hair and couldn't wait for my hair to get cut and colored. The atmosphere of the salon was so beautiful, clean and not overwhelming. Helen and Marni warmly greeted me and asked me what I had in mind and if I had any pictures of what I liked. We talked for a while about mine and their vision for my hair and the three of us instantly clicked and saw each other's visions. The shampoo girls were so friendly and gave an amazing head massage. I loved the fact when you get a calligraphy cut it comes with a complimentary Kerastase hair treatment that stays in your hair while it gets cut. Helen cut my hair first using her gold calligraphy pen and I was just blown away by her skills and technique. Helen is just amazingly talented and as much as she is talented she is an amazing person, so funny, sweet and patient. Next, Marni colored my hair and her technique blew me away. She whipped up the most beautiful warm/caramel balayage color for my hair. She is also so funny, kind and patient. Helen gave me the most beautiful blow out and explained how I could style my hair. Once my hair was dry she went through my hair again with the calligraphy pen which I loved because most salons always skip this part and a dry cut I find is the most important, last step to a good/amazing haircut. You really see how your hair falls when it's dry and can perfect it even more. I feel like I have FINALLY found my home in a hair salon and calligraphy cut has been life changing for my hair. My hair has never felt lighter, fuller and softer. I walked in with the most heaviest, short layered, long hair with ashy highlights that washed me out. I walked out with such a beautiful, soft layered, medium length hair with warm highlights that brightened my face. I already booked my next appointment and can't wait to go back again!
