I bought an Amazon Deal for the RF/CSR; described as "Photoshop for the Face". I go in cynical, but figured what the heck. Saturday afternoon, I pull up to this white Soviet-style block building in Old Scottsdale and my heart sinks. Ugh. I can already tell what this experience is going to be like. Except I walk thru a set of iron gates and down a short arched hall and find myself whisked far from the gritty urban landscape and into the garden of the casbah---a beautiful tiled courtyard with comfy seating and a playful fountain and leafy greenery that trembled in the breeze. Wow---this is cool.The office itself is small & charming with a small offering of pretties to admire & the receptionist is just lovely in both person and personality. I was a bit early so she sent me upstairs to a lounge filled with soft, over-stuffed furniture and an offering of snacks and beverages, but I was only there long enough to check my email & then Ginger, my esthetician, came to collect me. She took me back down the stairs and out into the courtyard---this was the first time I noticed the courtyard was flanked by a series of small rooms---the treatment rooms. Ginger got me settled in, told me in detail about the procedure &expected results & then checked to make sure I had no questions. And so we began. Basically, my face got micro-needled 1060 times, but the only time I winced was when she worked on the spot where your cheek curves into your nose. On a scale of 1-10, discomfort was at worse a 3.5 and more like a 2. Ginger kept up a soft murmur of chatter (to distract me?) and they were playing some cool new age music The lights were dim & I was very comfortable. It was a pleasant experience. I was told results take a while because the that needling is to provoke collagen and tighten & smooth the skin---maybe I wouldn't notice anything for 3-4 weeks. So when Ginger did push a little about buying a RF/CSR package, I told her I wasn't going to buy a pig in a poke. Let me see if I see any results. If I see good things happen, darlin', you ain't gonna be able to keep me from buying a package. When I said that, Ginger backed off, and it was fine. In the meantime, I did go ahead & buy the VIP membership because what a deal & I just was loving the staff and atmosphere, so even just to pamper myself with a facial, how could I go wrong? They sent me home with detailed after-care instructions & my face shiny & lubed and also with this bottle of killer face wash---I assume it's from their Beautify line---LOVE it! Smells good and washes my face clean without stripping it. Want MORE! One of my complaints about my "older" face is the bags under my eyes. I swear, SWA wants to charge me excess baggage fees for those puppies. Folks, I kid you not---I got up Sunday morning, looked in the mirror, and those sad little pillows that resided under my eyes had been reduced about 80%. I am not joking. I almost fell off my chair. Now, that's the only "turbo" difference I noticed that fast and radically, but over the past 10 days, I have also noticed that my skin grain seems finer. The reduction in the baggy eyes has remained. I don't expect to look 30-cough-cough-40 again, I just want to look fresher. I also don't expect this process, as explained to me, to happen overnight because the body has to do its thing regenerating and such. But based on the positive results I have seen so far, I am booking my LED appointment & I am probably going to buy that package, because I really think I have seen improvement and after all, I didn't get saggy and baggy in an hour, and it's not going to take an hour to fix. So yeah, if you are looking for a great place for skincare, I would recommend ISCI---great atmosphere, great staff, and I would also recommend the treatments. Oh--and important point. I've been looking for a skincare place, so I bought a Groupon for DH and me with a local skincare guru. First I can't get an appointment with her because she is moving so we end up past expiration of the coupon. Then she only wants to make us appointments at 8 and 8.30 on Saturday mornings. Yikes. So re-reading the Groupon and looking at her website, and for $50 I am supposed to be buying the $100 1 hour session. I am trying to figure this out---she must work with someone, because she's got DH & me scheduled 30 minutes apart. I call. No, she tells me, she works alone but she is really good and really fast. Yeah, but I want the EXPERIENCE, not the fast food version. Plus, if she cleans up between us (I hope that was the plan), figure 20 mins per session. When I pointed that out, she got rude and said that was she was offering. But that wasn't what you advertised? Anyhow---ended up contacting Groupon and cancelling the deal& getting a refund. My point of this is this: not for a single moment do I feel like I got lesser service at ISCI because I came in on a coupon. I was there almost 2 hours and felt pampered and valued. The ISCI is the best kept secret in Scottsdale. I happened upon them through Groupon. The facial was wonderful, relaxing and my skin had a glow to it. They only use organic products and do carry their own products which I have been using. I see a difference in my skin. The staff knows their stuff and are very accommodating. I also signed up for their VIP package which is a fabulous deal! They have recently relocated and their new place is beautiful and very relaxing. I highly recommend them. But I was more than pleasantly surprised; Mikki did an amazing job and put so much care and attention into her work. With the group coupon thing it seems as though most places are of the "get 'em in get 'em out" attitude. It was refreshing that the staff of the International Skin Care Institute were personable, informative, knowledgeable and of the mindset to create a spa experience for customer. A tad bit sales driven for my taste, I do want to know the products, but I don't want to feel pressured into buying them. However, I think my arithmetician was just passionate about helping people get great skin and obviously liked working there. Great facial I would recommend to others. So before buying this through Groupon, I called to see if I could buy the 2 facial package and my husband and I be able to use it, rather than buy 2 separate Groupons, they said no problem. Included in the Groupon was this: Computer face analysis (a $149 value) Energized facial with microdermabrasion (a $170 value) LED skin rejuvenation treatment (a $60 value) $100 credit toward future treatments. So as soon as we get there it's laid out really nice and very relaxing atmosphere. We were supposed to have an appointment at 4pm, but I got a call the night before to see if we could come in at 12 instead, which worked for us, I wanted an earlier appointment when I first booked it. So they have my info, but they have my husband listed as someone else, no big deal, easy fix, I met with Mikki and my husband had Annette. The facial itself was great, but this was my first facial and I did tell her that, so when she was starting little machines and gearing them towards my face I did have to ask a few times what she was doing, and she remembered this was my first time and explained it, but she was great. We both get done about the same time an go to the LED treatment. We didn't get the computer face analysis, no one even mentioned that. No high pressure sales while we were there, the reason for the 3 stars, when were checking out we were immediately asked how much of a gratuity we were leaving. Not would we like to leave something, how much were we leaving. I was planning on tipping her anyway, she did a great job, but I would rather be asked to tip rather than told I'm tipping someone. What if I had a bad experience? Would I still been asked that? We won't be going back really because it's too far to drive from where we live now and even with the VIP membership at $79, you still have to pay about $60+ for a facial each time, It was nice, but it's more of a splurge. Well... I found this one on a coupon site, read the reviews on yelp and decided to give it a try. The service I got (microdermabrasion ) was good but I did not like the business. They seem completely focused on getting more money out of you. They give you a sales pitch on their own brand of products, offer up some kind of discount if you buy it today.., I actually felt bad for the esthetician. I think she was good at her job but handcuffed by the sales pitch. The funniest part was the "value" they assign to their packages. I can't remember the exact numbers but you're getting a $600 facial for $49, or similar. Another place that seems to exist for the coupon business instead of a steady regular client base. read more

I should mention that when I did, my skin was a complete mess, as I had been dealing with my first bout of really horrible adult acne and could not find anything to help it. I was scheduled with Tisha, who was INCREDIBLE about cleaning up my skin and helping me come up with a long term treatment plan. Tisha really knows her stuff and was able to help me in ways none of the dermatologists did. By my next appointment, my skin was already 50% better. I now have a membership here (which is an incredibly good deal) and am working with Tisha to use other services to heal all of my scarring (my acne is gone!). It was so relaxing & so wonderful, I made appointments for my next two facials before I left. Tisha has skills! BUYER BEWARE I bought a carbon facial for $181, they never asked me if I had cancer or any of the other things they might contradict me getting this procedure until the day of the facial. Well I did have cancer, they don't recommend I have that procedure without a doctors release. I don't have a doctor to give me a release. Now they are refusing to give me my money back! John the owner had a spa on fifth avenue years ago. Closed suddenly & moved as far away from there as possible, now I understand why. I'm disputing with my credit card company since they are refusing a refund. Not very nice business John I don't need you praying for me as I know longer have cancer but you could give my girlfriend the treatments you screwed her for by closing 5th Avenue & not fulfilling your commitments to her.The only reason I said I was ok was to not cause a scene in your business & be unprofessional like you are. I bought something I was told not to do. I don't want to be forced into buying your products or any other service & don't appreciate your condescending tone. I purchased a Groupon for the facial and microderm. Mikki was the facialist and was very friendly and knowledgeable. She didn't talk through the whole facial, which I love. I like to just relax and not have to make a lot of conversation. I'm not sure about the other Yelp review, but I received a microderm. It was the same quality microderm that I've received in many other spas. The facial was very relaxing and she took her time - I think I was there for at least an hour. I live near Old Town so when I saw the Groupon I thought I would give it a try. I wasn't expecting much but found the staff and the treatment to be one of the best I have had in town. The location is perfect for parking and is comfortable and relaxed. Joanne did the facial and was friendly but let me relax. Having the LED is nice, any add on that can tighten my skin I will take! The microderrmibration was nice, not too strong but comfortable and made my skin very smooth and clean. Yes, they talk to you about the VIP package... but it is a Groupon and you are getting a great deal for what the Groupon cost. They were not pushy. I am reviewing the facial with microdermabrasion I purchased off of Groupon for $59. This was the first time I've ever received a facial or microdermabrasion. I have nothing to compare it to, but I believe that what I received was amazing. I've bought similar things for girlfriends in the past and the process they explained was identical to what I got here. Therefore, I assume I got the real thing =) I scheduled my appointment with Mikki. She was a very nice lady and made me feel very comfortable. She arrived a few minutes early to drop off some pre-appointment paperwork for me to fill out. She was very friendly and outgoing, making me laugh many times. I was completely happy with the service she provided and would schedule another appointment with her if I have the opportunity to go back. The interior is very nicely decorated and clean. I did not find the music to be too quiet or too loud. It was just right. I was not sure what to expect. Being male, this kind of stuff is new to me but it was something I'd been wanting to do for a while. I'm not sure if the other reviewer (Noa U.) went to the same place that I did, but they offered the diamond tip microdermabrasions and that's what I got. Mikki recommended it to me. I believe I also got the organic one first, but I'm not too sure. I was kind of zoned out as I was very very relaxed. I think I would have fallen asleep if I was there any longer. The only downside for me is the distance from my house. This is what kept me from purchasing the VIP package, which is actually very inexpensive and overall a great deal with all of the benefits you gain from it. I do plan on going back sometime in the future when time allows. My skin felt great afterwards. The staff there is very knowledgeable and able to offer recommendations for various products and techniques to keep your skin looking great. When I said I wasn't interested in the VIP package they didn't hound me. The guy at the car wash who tries to replace the non-existent chips in my windshield is 10 times more aggressive of a salesperson than the ones that work here. Again, I've never had a facial or microdermabrasion before, or any kind of spa treatment stuff at all actually, but I am beyond happy with what I got for the price I paid. read more
