Misleading and Disappointing Experience - Felt Scammed My dermatologist recommended IPL treatment for sun spots--not this spa, just the treatment itself. I found Turn Back Time Day Spa and purchased an IPL session there, but when I arrived, the staff told me it wouldn't be effective because my sun spots weren't dark enough compared to my natural skin tone. They used this to upsell me a $1400 CoolPeel package (4 treatments for face, chest, and hands), claiming it was the only thing that would work. Martha was unprofessional and used scare tactics to push me into the CoolPeel. I saw very minimal results, nowhere near the dramatic before-and-after images they showed (which I now suspect were edited). They initially told me each treatment would resurface 25% of my skin, but at every follow-up, they kept saying I wouldn't see results until the final session. They also pushed an expensive cream on me during the process. Furthermore, the spa itself was cluttered --there was no real "spa" feeling at all. The environment didn't inspire trust or professionalism, especially considering the high price point of the treatments. I went back to my dermatologist after finishing the sessions, and he confirmed what I feared: I was scammed. He told me IPL would have been the right solution and that CoolPeel wasn't even appropriate for my skin type. I feel completely misled and urge others to be cautious. I requested a refund for the unused treatment and Martha tried selling me further modalities. I had the Vivace and Cool Peel package done recently. In my opinion and experience, while I did see some improvement it was not as discussed in the inital consult. I was researching these treatments for years before deciding to going with TBT. I specifically asked 5 times , will my dark spots, dark circles, texture, lack of firmness be corrected and will I be able to stop wearing makeup. The answer everytime was yes. I left a message for Martha, the owner, and she called me back within the hour and very thoroughly explained the Vivace treatment I was most interested in (to start with). She is very knowledgeable as well as quite pleasant. She invited me to come in for a consultation and Lauren spent nearly an hour with me to give me a tour of the office plus very helpful information on Vivace as well as various other treatments after I asked about my broken capillaries which will benefits from IPL treatments. The receptionist was also very nice so overall it was a pleasant experience and I look forward to starting with one or more treatments soon. I would NEVER think of going back to this place. I bought a deal on living social and boy do I regret it. I never went back for my second part of the photo-facial because I did not want them touching my face. When I arrived the person who was attending to me was smoking outside and came in smelling completely like cigarette smoke. She drank soda throughout the procedure and did not seem to know the answers to my questions. The machines look fairly old as well. I'm sure they are not up to par on new technology. I came here for the peppermint facial last month after purchasing a Groupon. Lauren was my esthetician and she was wonderful. She is very knowledgeable on skin care. I received several compliments on my skin after the facial, which pretty much never happens. I went back and booked the IPL Facial and saw a big difference after only one treatment. Martha and her daughter were assisting me that night and thoroughly explained what to expect and what the treatment targets. Great service. I will be back next week. What an amazing facial and derma-planing by Lauren! It was so relaxing and refreshing! I liked the fact that she explained how each product would benefit my facial. Included In her facial is an LED treatment and a soothing cold stone massage. I've had those treatments before with an extra charge. Not to mention her neck and shoulder massage was perfect with just the right amount of pressure. When it came time for the dermaplane she was extremely meticulous in making sure no hair was left behind. But , the best part is She went above and beyond when she took it upon herself to get an LED light, from the other room, to shine on my forearms to help with bruising caused by fragile skin. I've done IPL many times & (it does take a couple of sessions) to correct broken capillaries on my face. Wow what a positive difference! Then went back for the IPL (laser) portion & found that the LED treatment may actually work better for my skin type. BUT I too have had the same services elsewhere and here the owner went over my entire face 3 times with the IPL Photofacial (with her NEW equipment). In my experience other places only went over once or twice. I saw/see results - AND then there is a follow up LED treatment that is relaxing and enjoyable and shows results too. I go for the service, not the frills and I think Martha delivers a quality photofacial without extra costs. I like supporting a woman owned, neighborhood business and I like the job she does. She's adding a cosmologist to do "regular" facials, she does botox (at $9/unit)...it's beauty for people who don't have all day or money to burn. I recommend her and her little shop.
