Also don't like that trainees are coloring my hair with minimal supervision (and you still pay the high price). Most recent color was awful and it's not easily remedied. Have decided to return to my Beverly Hills stylist. If I'm going to pay a high price, at least I know I'm getting 100% of the stylist's attention I paid for (including blow dry) and not someone with training wheels coloring my hair. read more

I have been a loyal client for over 7 years, & while I've had concerns in the past, I've chosen not 2 speak up--until now. Unfortunately, this marks the 4th time in the last 2 years that I've left the salon feeling disappointed, and this time, it was the final straw. As someone who simply wants 2 feel good about myself, it's disheartening when a stylist consistently dismisses my requests. I've asked 4 specific services or styles, & while there's always verbal agreement, the outcome is often something entirely different. Most recently, I requested a particular color--something we both discussed and agreed on--and once again, she chose to do something else entirely. When I raised the concern, I was met with excuses rather than accountability. It also doesn't help that her assistants seem to do more of the actual work than she does, which leaves me questioning what exactly I'm paying for. On a positive note, I've already found a new stylist--yes, the salon is a bit of a drive, but the care and attention I received made it well worth it. I requested highlights my stylist Danielle Keller added a root shadow and had been adding glosses for the past few visits. I have extremely healthy hair and have been experiencing a ton of breakage since going here. So mentioned my breakage concern and mentioned how the product she recommended had alcohol which everyone knows isn't the best for your hair. After returning to her chair to brush out the complete rats nest of hair she created she starts running the brush thru my hair from the roots to the end just ripping thru the tangles breaking my hair even more. I ended up brushing it myself, and thankfully she felt uncomfortable continuing as I wanted to walk out already. Will never return and regret the 20 percent tips I had given her for her already overpriced work. NEW CLIENT - READ BEFORE BOOKING: Worst customer service I've ever experienced - wish I could give zero out of 5. TLDR: They texted me twice to reschedule my appointment. When I didn't show up (because of their texts), they charged me $310 for the full service and refused to refund me. Full story: I booked my first appointment online as an all-over-color (there was no option for balayage). When they texted me a confirmation, I told them I wanted balayage. They told me that that would take longer than all-over-color, so my appointment would need to be rescheduled. They sent two separate texts (Fri PM & Sat AM) asking me to reschedule to another time, and then last minute, on Sat PM (less than 24hrs before my appt), they essentially said "nevermind" and let me know that the stylist could actually make it work. I was planning to give them a call on Sunday to reschedule and totally missed their "nevermind" text. When I didn't show up to the original appointment, they charged me for the full service. I called multiple times to give them a chance to make it right, and the owners refused to speak with me directly. After many conversations with the front desk, the manager said they could give me HALF of the $310 in credit towards my next visit. This incident was extremely confusing and unfair. Not at all how to treat a client, especially a new clients. It's unfortunate for them since I could've brought in a lot more business (than $310) in the future, if they had treated me right the first time. My friend / long-time client who referred me will also not be coming back because of this. read more

I was very happy with my eyebrow shaping done by Kim. I had let the hair get out of control to the point where I couldn't shape them on my own. I wanted to go to the Kelley Baker salon but she's closed and Kelley recommended me to come here. The appointment was quick and relatively pain free. I didn't have any irritation after because I let her know I tend to break out. To not have any bumps or irritation shows that she uses quality products. My brow shape is even with a nice square shape. She didn't take too much off just instead worked with my natural shape. I'm very happy with how even they are as well as the shape. The finished product looked like hairs instead of lots of product. Next time I'll go a bit darker on the color. A highlighter was used underneath to really accentuate the shape. I must incorporate this into my routine. Kim was very personable as well. I felt comfortable the entire appointment. Already booked my follow up visit! read more

I took a chance on BBL and Danielle and I've never looked back. I'm picky when it comes to my hair. I've always been greeted warmly by the BBL staff, and Danielle is an absolute gem and hair wizard. She knows how to give me an elevated look that is classy and elegant. Oftentimes, she knows what I need before I do, and I always get compliments! Most importantly, she's the sweetest human being. You can be the most talented person at your job, but if you are not a decent person, I won't waste my time on you. Deeply disappointed by the bait-and-switch tactics. I just moved to the area and was hoping to find my go-to place. I went in for a consultation two weeks prior because the pricing said $350+. I have a lot of hair. I wanted price transparency. The stylist explained that we'd need more time for me, but he'd be able to charge me $350. Welp, today was my session. He did a great job and seemed kind, but time management was an issue and there was an awkward experience as another client came for an appointment long before I was done. Long story short, at the end, he told me "well, I usually charge $550 for this, but I'll charge you $450." I reminded him of the consultation, but to avoid an uncomfortable situation, I still paid the $450 and tipped him $90 cash. Although the charge lacked integrity and was wrong, I decided to be done with it and never come back. I would have had more respect if he said, "I'll honor my word today, but, in spite of the consultation, your hair was more than I expected so next time it's $X." Not only did he not honor his word, but he pretended like I was getting a deal. That is exactly what consultations are for: evaluating the job and committing to a price. I'd rather go to someone who told me the true price up front (even if pricey) without the bait and switch. read more

Decided to give this place a try with the "first time special" for a simple trim (nothing complicated, just wanted some basic layers) and got the worst "professional" haircut I've ever had. Worse than Supercuts! She covered it up with some styling but after I washed it, I could see how uneven, chunky, and sloppy it looked. I asked for it to be fixed. Obviously I did not trust the same inexperienced person to touch my hair again, and they made it seem like a favor to have someone more qualified to address the mess. So I had to go out of my way to make a return trip for a fix. Thankfully the second person fixed it well enough, but I did not appreciate the terrible job in the first place. Why would they unleash such an inexperienced stylist on a first time customer? That's not the way to make a good impression and get return customers. I was in LA for an event and managed to schedule an appointment the day before for a blowdry w/ iron with Shay M. It was my first blowout ever, and Shay did an absolutely fantastic job. My hair is fine, straight, soft, and notoriously difficult to style, but Shay managed to give it curls that lasted all the way from my hair appointment at 1:45 through my event that night, which started at 5:30. Shay was incredibly friendly, and the whole experience felt luxurious. I was definitely nervous to get my hair done by a total stranger in an unfamiliar city, but I am so very glad that I did! Shay made my hair look the best it's ever looked, by far! It gave me a boost of confidence for the event that was invaluable. If I'm ever in LA again for an event, I'll definitely be back! read more
