The Compound Salon is my favorite salon I've ever been a patron of - and I've been getting my hair colored professionally for over 15 years. The salon is clean, bright, airy, comfortable, and has a laid-back vibe. The music is always great, the staff is extremely friendly, and there are refreshments available. The restrooms are clean and in great condition. I love the plants throughout the salon and the personal touches such as the neon "Be Excellent to Each Other" sign. My hairstylist, Dina, gives me the best cut and color of my life. Every time I leave I know that my hair looks the best it can, and my color is gorgeous. My color also consistently fades out in a way that looks intentional between coloring, and remains vibrant for many weeks. I've never been happier with my hair. I've also seen other stylists for blowouts between visits and every stylist has been great. Karla cut my niece's hair and was wonderful with her. You can book online, and you can text with the receptionist if you have to change your appointment which is great. The only downside is that there's no dedicated parking, which isn't their fault and I've never had a problem. Just be careful if you go on a street sweeping day. read more

Came to get a bang trim with existing bangs. Booked Jillian because I saw some good reviews but had a really bad, totally opposite experience. She seemed very unsure of what she was doing. At some points it was like I was giving her advice. I showed her reference pictures and noted specifically I want the beginning pieces this short (showed ref pic of short bangs) but side swept so they blend into the hair (showed ref pic). Instead she cut the entire bangs that short length and honestly it was very choppy, unblended This happened a few months ago and I had to go back and leave a bad review because it was that annoying. read more

Jillian has been doing my color and cut for many years. I've followed her to five salons so far and this is by far my favorite. Jillian is incredible with color. When I first saw her I was a nightmare client, wanting a honey blonde after dying my hair black for many years (naturally a light brunette ). I'd worked with a few stylists who had either given me zebra hair, the mom haircut or bird yellow or bronze blondes. Jillian is fun, funny and AMAZING with color. My hair comes out the perfect shade each time and the color lasts until my next appointment (often probably could go longer) 3 months later. She talks me through any changes we might make and has never done me wrong in terms of blondes. People compliment my hair often and I always recommend Jillian. While I've followed Jillian many places, this salon is definitely the most comfortable and welcoming. Parking was not a problem even on a day where there was an art fair down the street. Call me committed but Samantha has been the only human to touch my hair since 2018! In the beginning, when getting my hair dyed was still new to me, I went in with a few reference pictures, and I knew I wanted a more subtle but copper balayage - and Samantha delivered. It was subtle, but the copper tones came out in the sun. She is also great at figuring out placement so that even though the shades lighten over time, it still looks really good. I've included pictures from 2018 that include all the various phases my hair has gone through with length and color. I believe I have had around 4 balayages with Samantha and 6-7 haircuts with her. All in all - I recommend working with her and have a lot of trust in her judgement! Regarding the salon, The Compound, I've found that it is clean and the vibes are great. Everyone is always really nice. Parking is street parking, and I haven't had trouble finding a spot on weekdays. read more

Everyone at the salon is lovely! But I specifically see Karla, and have been for the past few years. She's the absolute best. I typically go in for a cut and sometimes color (balayage or single process, depends on my mood), and I always leave feeling my best. I actually plan social events around my appointments with her because I know I'll leave feeling absolutely gorgeous. As a girl with curly hair, finding someone like Karla who cares about you not only as client but who goes out of their way to keep your hair healthy, is a gift. Keenan King, hair stylist, is the best hairstylist I have found. I tend to get my hair trimmed or a full-on cut every six months or so, and have been to many salons, but none of them have stuck. I did not know how to manage my curly hair and had been straignten my hair for over a year, giving up on hope. But trying a new hairstylist, he walked me through everything, a great conversationalist, and knows precisely what your hair needs to look your best, natural hair. The vibe in the shop was okay one lady was super sweet and told me where's the restroom is, offered me a drink and let me know snacks were available as well. The lady The stylist doesn't really connect with customer no conversation so if your looking for a dead quite type of spot this is your place. I called to get a trim they told me it was $95 to start with I called back to get the stylist name and no answer.. she trimmed my hair pretty quick and fixed my messed up bangs ish.. if you don't want a wash or any styling that will be $65DRY CUT.. I wish I got the $95 service I asked for I wish they told her as she wasn't communicating with me I showed her an inspo for the bangs it felt like she didn't may no mind.. cool spot ‍ read more
