I've been coming to Beauty Box for about four years now and have always loved every experience I've had. I've booked with both Veronica and Sabrina and they both do an amazing job with my brow laminations and lash lifts and my results always last so long! I'm always a little nervous when it comes to my brows because I've had bad experiences in the past with people messing up the shape or taking off too much hair, but that's never been an issue here as they listen closely to what you want and do such a meticulous job. I moved to LA a couple of years ago but still come here every time I'm back home in the Bay because I haven't seen any other salons that do as good of a job as Beauty Box. The salon also has a great vibe (cute decor, good music, chill environment) so it's nice to come in and be able to relax and enjoy getting your service done. Can't recommend them enough! read more

I found Veronica back when she was on Church St. and I was so excited to find a nice place to get my eyebrows done SO close to my house. It was truly such a dream come true. I particularly love that she respects my naturally thick brows, which a lot of places don't always do. I have had the misfortune of being over-waxed and tweezed in the past so I was so relieved that she was so good at shaping and preserving my bushy brows. Plus the one-minute commute was ideal. Flash forward to now- she has since moved (tragic for my commute time), but I make the effort to stay on her schedule (every 4wks on the dot) because I am that dedicated to her service. I have never found someone who has been so good at doing my brows before her so I make the trek to Ocean Ave to see her once a month. Ambiance: Her new space is honestly so cute and calming. I loved the old space of course but you can see she has really thrived in a bigger footprint and she is able to branch out and expand the business to include so many other amazing services as well. Service: Phenomenal- all the girls who work here are so sweet and charming. There is never a dull or awkward moment. I have been so pleased with their salon that I brought my wife, Heather, to become a client as well. I want to note something very important here as well- my wife is a trans woman and everyone in the studio is so affirming and wonderful to her (using correct pronouns always, reaffirming her gender identity etc and genuinely making her brows look feminine and lovely). Not all places are like this and we have had negative experiences at other salons so I feel like it's important to mention so that other trans people know this is a good and affirming space. Overall I love Veronica and her staff- she has a lifelong client in me (and now my wife as well) for as long as she stays in SF I will make whatever trips I need to stay on her calendar. read more

I will say, I was a little traumatized from seeing people (older folks) that got their eyebrows "tattooed" years ago and now they are walking around with green, purple eyebrows. Had a great experience getting a Lash Lift + Tint. Made an appointment via Yelp Request an Appointment (which was super convenient) and got a response within the same day. The lift and tint took exactly 1 hour and involved a few rounds of treatment, then laying back and waiting. There is no pain, only slight discomfort if you're not used to having things touch your eyelids, and a slight chemical smell from the perming chemicals used. I have to admit the tint didn't do much for me. I barely noticed a change in the 'full' appearance of my lashes. But the lash lift performed very well. It's been 4 weeks since my appointment and my lashes are still perfectly curled. I'm excited to see how long it will stay like this. Maintenance for the lift is super easy: none. After a day or two you can wash your face, scrub your face, anything, and your lashes will remain curled. Just brush them back into place and voila. My only gripe is how expensive this treatment currently costs. I was charged $175 (before tip) for the lift + tint. Hopefully the market for this service will decrease in the future, because for some people paying this amount on a monthly/6-week basis isn't feasible. If I went back, I'd get the lift but skip the tint. Overall, great experience and highly recommend this lash salon to all first-timers and experienced fans! read more

In preparation for a family wedding and my baby's baptism, I decided to schedule a first-time, 4:00pm appointment for a Henna Tint & Wax at Beauty Box SF, one of only a few salons that does Henna Tinting. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience, and could therefore never, ever recommend this salon to anyone. ---- I normally go to Pono Boutique in SF or Ellie Brows & Beauty in Miami for my eyebrow wax and henna tinting; both places always do a phenomenal job. However, Pono recently stopped offering henna which is the only type of eyebrow tint that's ever lasted more than 2-3 days on my skin. Thus, I began my search for a new eyebrow salon in SF. Making the appointment online with Beauty Box was really buggy (I work on tech R&D at work so it wasn't user error); I eventually had to call. You have to provide your credit card, address, full name and phone number to book the appointment over the phone. The salon will also collect a deposit for the service at this time. Once I arrived at the salon, I sat down with Sabrina--a lovely, kind person--to explain what I wanted for my eyebrows and then she got started. This is where things started to go downhill: Unlike Ellie and Pono, I noticed that Sabrina did not clean or exfoliate my eyebrows so that the wax and tint would adhere better. Second, I noticed that Sabrina did not draw any guide lines on my skin to make sure my eyebrows would turn out evenly (and they most certainly did not turn out evenly). Finally, she did not apply any powder to prevent tint bleeding or staining on my skin. She simply started applying the henna directly to my eyebrows. When the service was over and I was given a mirror, I immediately noticed how large, dark, and overdrawn my eyebrows looked. Moreover, one eyebrow looked about 15% larger than the other. I asked the technician to reduce their size, but the damage was already done. I looked like Mr. Bean and I have the photos to prove it. Worse still, it was only when I got home that I realized that 1.) the technician left a layer of watered down henna all over my forehead, cheeks and temples and 2.) that my brow bones were left unwaxed. It turned out that she only waxed the skin above and to the sides of my eyebrows. I ended up having to use glycolic acid and a dozen cotton balls to get the tint off. Something else of concern: the technician advised me to leave the henna tint on my skin "for at least 24 hours". This is perhaps the moment I should have known I messed up by going to this salon. ALL other henna tints in my life required only 20' of set time. I tried all night to wash the henna tint from my face and eyebrows. The following morning, I called and asked to have the tint removed asap. Beauty Box graciously accommodated me in the AM, and removed as much tint as humanly possible from my face. When I got up to leave, I was surprised that the owner did not offer to refund me for the tint service. When I got home, I wrote Beauty Box SF an email to thank them for attempting to remove the tint, and to formally request a refund for the Henna tint. I offered that Sabrina could keep my tip and charge me for the wax. Sadly, they ignored my email and my request. In the end, I was out $70 and went to my family's wedding and baby's baptism with penciled in, plucked eyebrows that I did myself. read more

Had an amazing experience at Beauty Box today. It was my first time getting a facial since covid, and Sabrina made my skin look and feel amazing. The energy of the salon was so positive and I felt comfortable and safe. They require hand sanitizing and masks still required. Had a facial and had to remove my ask and was asked to show vaccination card. I can appreciate the do diligence. Sabrina was super knowledgeable about skin and told me a little about her background. She's been an esthetician for over 16 years and has worked with numerous dermatologists and plastic surgeons. She started with a cleanse with steam, exfoliant that sounds tickled the skin a bit, warm towel, extractions, a machine that kinda zapped my skin. I think it was called high frequency? Amazing massage and finished with a jelly mask. My skin has never looked better! I left with a retinol serum and my new esthetician. Everyone in the salon is super helpful and friendly. I've been coming to see Veronica for over two years and I ADORE her. It's fair to say she saved my eyebrows with her incredible powder brows technique. She gave me the perfect shape for my face, and after over 2.5 years they held up! I just finally got them touched up but the color and pigmentation lasted so well. I had previously had microblading done elsewhere and it faded after only 8 months... Also her Yumi lash lift is insane. I've had Yumi lifts and regular lash lifts at other spots, but no one does them like she does. My lashes stay high and lifted for weeks and I can go without mascara. Yes, her lash lift might cost a tiny bit more than other places but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. It's worth it. I had been following their Instagram page for a while and decided to make an appointment with the owner Veronica. For the price, I honestly don't think it's worth it. I got a lash perm here and had to return for a touch up days later which still didn't give me a great lift. The actual salon inside is comfortable, clean and relaxing. That unfortunately didn't outweigh the cons, which were that my lashes didn't stay lifted for not even a month. If you're going to come here I also don't recommend using the senior artist. I paid the additional 20 dollars for her but honestly there was nothing special about her and I'm sure any of the artist here will provide you with the same care and artistry. On Friday night I used Yelp to reach out to Beauty Box SF requesting any available Brow Lamination appointments Saturday or Sunday (of the same weekend). Within the same night, they got back to me and made an appointment to squeeze me in on Sunday 9am, even though their hours are normally 10am onwards! I was the first one in the studio, and the studio owner was doing my procedure. She made sure I had time to ask all the questions I had prior, and then we began the treatment. I felt extremely comfortable and confident in my decision the moment I sat down, because the owner appeared to be very knowledgeable about the procedure. The Brow Lamination treatment consists of perm, keratin treatment, and oil. She also waxes with impressive attention to detail (using extremely small strips of wax), and finally fills in any sparse areas with light powder. I loved that she explained she tries to help her clients grow back eyebrow hair, and only waxes off very out of place hairs. The overall treatment took just under an hour, and I was so impressed with the final result! My brows looked fuller than I could ever imagine. The waxing also kept the majority of my hairs, but gave incredible shape. I'm only 24 hours in, so I don't know how long this lasts, but I'll definitely be coming back, and might even try other treatments! read more

Terrible management and no common sense. My calendar said the appointment is 2:30 while they had it as 2:00 and obviously nobody can tell who made the mistake while we agreed on the time initially on the phone. My Uber was waiting for me while speaking with the manager and ETA was 2:30, I asked multiple times if I still can show up and after minutes of hesitation while the driver was waiting, she finally said yes! Obviously the ETA was 2:33 at that point and as soon as I arrived there (all the way from the other side of the city, and delayed 3 minutes only because she kept me waiting by my Uber to make her decision) she said she cannot accommodate me and took all my deposit. Funny thing is that the other time that I had an appointment there, they kept me waiting for half an hour because they were not finished on time with the previous client!!! I'm out of $300 and two hours of my precious work time (yes, as shocking as it may sound to you, other people's time is also important to them just like your "artist time"!) while there is a 50% chance that they made the mistake but I'm the one who agreed on giving my deposit away and I'm the one whose time is wasted! I'm pretty sure they will repeat the nonsense she told me as a response to this review. Also, now that I am writing a review about this place, I want to mention that the only time I laminated my eyebrows here (I deeply regret the extremely generous tip that I added on top of the ridiculously overpriced fee), even with extra care and caution for the first 3 days (no chemical or water contact), the lamination lasted only for a week! Considering how much they show off the Yumi brand compared to competitor. Don't waste your money on their Yumi eyelash serum SCAM, it's insanely expensive and it won't work even if you totally follow their instruction and be consistent in using it, total waste of money! UPDATE: Veronica's response is exactly what I meant when I said they will justify their unfair action. Yes, Veronica, as a business, the power is in your hand and not mine, because I did not have YOUR credit card information to charge YOU the previous time that you kept me waiting for HALF AN HOUR because you were not finished with your previous client. So please stop pretending that your "business" schedule always works like an atomic clock! Delays are irrelevant when there is no financial interest for you! read more

Talented women like Veronica and Stefane have shown excellent customer service to my mom when she made the decision to have her eyebrows microbladed! Got my first set of lashes from Madeline at Beauty Box last week. Lashes went on great and I really enjoyed the new look. Over the weekend I started to see an allergic reaction. My eyes were stinging and the skin around my eyes became puffy, dry, and irritated. I reached out to the salon asking to have the lashes removed. I was then contacted by Madeline, she asked me for photo proof of irritation, and argued back-and-forth with me over text. This was especially upsetting... I just wanted the eyelashes off. No one offered to remove them until after I was clearly upset. This business really needs to work on customer service. Learn from my mistake; don't visit a junior stylist for anything. read more
