I have been coming to her for just over 3 years. The first time my friend brought me as a treat while I was pregnant and I got the most amazing haircut and service. I thought it must be a fluke, because I have never had such a good treatment and therefore never go back to the same hairdresser twice. I literally have been searching since I moved to L.A. when I was 17 and I'm 30 now. As a new mom, my hair was easy to take care of, and just absolutely beautiful. I had no time for long hair so went to Supercuts many months later to get a trim, and they completely hacked my hair. It was TERRIBLE. I had to go back so the manager could clean it up and make me look presentable. That is for another review, but I needless to say I was devastated. It had been about a year since Reiko had done mine and it was finally growing out enough to get it done by her again. This time I got a short emo do cause I'm all about having" non-mommy haircuts." It was like she read my mind. I was kind of worried cause it was so different from my usual, and she only looked at a few of my 1000's of photos I came prepared with. But again, to my surprise she gave me the best haircut of my life. She was able to take what I showed her adapt it to my head and face shape and give me exactly what I wanted. It was even easier to take care of than before! I used to be a early morning shower-er cause my hair is heavy and frizzy and a little wavy (only when I want it straight), so I could never sleep on wet hair. But one time I went to bed wet, and I woke up with PERFECT hair. It had volume, and lift at the roots, my hair was clean and shiny and completely dry and I didn't have to style it AT ALL. With that haircut that was super texturized, I became a night shower-er and cut my morning mommy routine in half. I got to be a good mom and look nice! Again, about 14 months had passed quickly (as it does when you have young children) and my beautiful haircut that had really lasted for at least a year was starting to look really blah. I really should have been in before that but it was such an amazing cut, how could I get another that good?!? This last time I went back to see if I could get a straight 3 for 3 perfect score, and she did it again. I brought in pictures of Zooey Deschanel, my #WCW girl, and asked if she could attempt that kind of look for me; basically long bouncy layers with heavy bangs and the woman worked her miracles again. I really wished I had a before pic cause I looked completely sad and pitiful compared to how alive and young, and beautiful I looked afterwards. I will be going back to her exclusively from now on. Do yourself a favor and see her. Give yourself time for the experience and give yourself over the joy of transformation. If not for your hair, do it for your soul.

Bruce K. Smith Salon is a clean, aesthetically pleasing salon. The owner, Bruce, as the salon name states is professional, meticulous and does a nice job on short cuts. The woman I saw had a short cut and that's what I'm drawn to. I'm sure Bruce does just as well on long hair. For short haircuts, his precision is on point.
