Place is run by terrible people. Tried to come here for a walk in haircut, and got there before closing. Decided to go for a walk to get some steps in after being told there were no more walk-ins for the day and came back to my car no longer there as the owner had it towed. Makes sense to tow customers cars when the business is closed and no one is being harmed. The owner just sits at their house and watches the cameras and tows any car who parks in the lot, even paying customers. Take your business elsewhere. Sitting here during the COVID-19 quarantine thinking about how much my hair has grown...but while some people are trippin' about the current state of their wild locks, I'm still sitting pretty because Jenna at Beauty Collective knows how to do my hair so it stays looking good. I followed Jenna from a previous salon, and even when I moved to Minnesota for a few years, I still made trips back to Michigan to have my hair done by her instead of anyone else. Months could pass between my appointments, but my hair always grew out looking better than ever because of the way she cut it. She has taken my dark asian hair to blonde with next to no damage--I cannot tell you how many compliments I got from friends who couldn't believe how silky and shiny my hair still was. Women's hair services with cut and color can cost a lot of time and money, so I would rather invest in a stylist who cares about the long term look and integrity of my hair. I set up a consult with Jayne Keller based off her insta photos. It was a negative experience from the start. I waited 20 minutes, ungreeted, in the uninspired salon. Eventually Jayne scooby doo-ed on over. We discussed my hair goals and set up an appt. A few weeks after booking, I noticed on a couple things on her Instagram that worried me. 1) Every head of hair looks identical to the next. And 2) She uses Redken shades EQ on everyone -- the basic bitch blonde 9P, 9T, 9V toner formula that fades to the warm, brassy, mucky blonde everyone hates. Blondes, you know what I'm taking about. You (might) look good leaving the salon and 5 washes later your hair looks brassy, dull, mucky and dry. Your stylist will blame you, your water, you washing your hair too much, using the wrong shampoo (even though you have a shower full of top shelf product)...everything but the truth. Shades EQ Is trash. You'll discover that when a good stylist uses a different toner. What does this have to do with Jayne? I reached out to her prior to my appt and explained why I prefer an alternative product. I also offered to buy said product and bring it. I showed her the formula that works on me at the consult, so none of this should have been a surprise. I also said I trust her expertise so if she'd rather not use something else, I'm good with it. The wheels came off Jayne's bus. "Who are you? You're going to tell me how to do hair? WHOA. Settle down, Beavis. Her response was unprofessional, rude and rabidly insecure. She proceeded to ask my name over and over after I signed my first DM with it and it's on my Instagram. WTF!? Maybe she should rethink booking her own appts, seeing as though she forgets them. What's the point of a consult if the stylist can't even remember what was discussed? I was warned about her abrasive personality, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. My mistake. I can't even express on here what an amazing experience I had at this salon. Went in as a blonde and I had no idea what I wanted, just that I wanted a big change. Had Christine as my stylist, she was phenomenal. Answered all my millions of questions and took me from blonde to an amazing shade of red that matches my eyes and skin tone. I look so fantastically different! She was so friendly and sweet the whole time and it only took her about two hours for the color and to blow me out. Keep in mind here that she put three + separate colors into my hair so that it would have dimension and not have a flat look. I have never had a better stylist or a better experience getting my hair done and I have been to several salons in Birmingham. Would fully recommend Christine, you should give her a call immediately if you are looking to change up your style! Also prices are very reasonable. Living Social had a deal for Beauty Collective - get highlights, deep conditioning treatment, a haircut, and a styling for $70! What a deal! Never being all that much of the girly girl (although I try sometimes), I had only gotten highlights once before years ago. I thought I'd give it a go once again with such a good deal, and I'm glad I did. Beauty Collective is right off Maple on Eton. It's a small little place with lots of panache. The walls are a nice grayish blue with dark gray accents. At each station are these huge beautiful mirrors and cute little chandelier like sconces. Very chic. Very elegant. Hanging above your head are gorgeous crystal chandeliers. I especially liked that they put one of these fancy chandeliers right above the shampooing stations. It gives you something pretty to look at while you are face up in a shampoo sink. I had Kate. Conversation flowed smoothly with her. She was very nice, very sweet. And, most importantly, she did a fabulous job on my hair. The highlights are gorgeous. I'm really quite happy with them. My husband will be home any minute now. I don't know about you but it is tough sometimes for a guy to walk in a salon and find yourself in a totally different world it seems -- curling irons, hair coloring, extensions, etc. So when I found myself a GREAT stylist that does my haircut just the way I like it, I sure as heck will follow her wherever she goes! So, two days after my stylist Cyndi joined Beauty Collective, I of course have to check out the new digs. The place itself is tucked in a small part of Eton really close to Maple (15 Mile Road). Don't let the small parking place fool you. The inside of the Salon is enormous with their open space concept. Gigantic mirrors that define each stylist's work stations are in the far corner of the room and to the right, while on the left is an opening to the "second," more intimate part of the salon where Cyndi's station was. Since Cyndi's specialty is hair extensions, she even told me there is a "private room" option at this salon for her clients to rent so no prying eyes can see them while they're getting their extensions done. Yes, there is even, as one YELPER puts it, a chandelier that would greet your eyes as your hair is being "shampoo-ed" (is that even a word? lol) and you can't help but look up. The bottom line though is this: no matter how elaborate or expensive the decor of a salon is, you are there for SERVICE. SERVICE AND EXPERTISE, to me is the bottom line of my visit to Beauty Collective. I will ALWAYS give a 5-star rating to any Salon that would have Cyndi (and a Keurig coffee maker, lol) in it. I've only visited Beauty Collective once but, talking to at least two other stylists there, I have a good feeling about this place. I will be back (of course)! read more

I have been using this salon for a couple of years. What a cool place. Nicely designed with ample free parking. Super cute interior with huge mirrors. The wash bowl chairs have foot rests! I love it. Light and airy. But the reason it's just perfect is because my husband and I follow Jayne Keller wherever she goes. She is the best stylist we have found, and she has been cutting our hair forever. My husband was recommended her by a salon owner who cut my hair, in the 90's and I switched over pretty soon after. Her prices are fair and she does amazing work. She highlights my hair too, and I get tons of compliments. She is fun and funny. We love her like family, and are customers for life. Highly recommended. Check this salon, and Jayne out. Lovely but not over feminine salon. Suiting for both men and woman. Lots of natural light which is always a plus if you're getting color and/make-up. I personally come here for Great Lengths and So Cap extensions. CYNDI PATRICCA is amazing at the keratin bond extension. She is super quick which is normally not the case when receiving this service. She's super laid back not the per usual Birmingham B#^^h. She also does cuts and color. Also, most of the stylist here have over 15 yrs experience in other top Birmingham salons as well as have editorials for bridal and fashion mags. I had Alyse. Absolutely horrible hairstylist. I went in for highlights and a cut and left looking the same as I did walking in. I asked for a redo because of this and she didn't even respond after several days and texts. I'm pretty reasonable and do understand that the process is time consuming but I would've at least appreciated a response. I definitely do not recommend this hair stylist. She took advantage of me because I'm young. I paid 200 to look identical to the way I looked the day before. However, the salon as a whole is very cute inside is a really comfortable environment to be in. read more

I made a hair appointment with Jayne for a haircut and color. She requested that I send her a recent picture of myself ..... very strange. I did so, and she texted me to say she wasn't "experienced enough" to do a cut or color on me and cancelled my appointment! Unbelievable, yet she charges $75 plus for a haircut! Friendly atmosphere, very clean, smiling staff. I needed a new look and had a ton of hair to chop off and donate. I was slightly terrified because I had very long hair (down to my bum) and it was a big change. I had the pleasure of getting treated by Alyse. She asked a lot of questions, gave good suggestions, and made me feel very comfortable. She made two hairpieces to donate to Wigs for Kids - each 18" long! I LOVE my new hair!!!! Beautiful location. I see Cyndi for my hair extensions, style, and color. She is a genius when it comes to extensions. I get the micro link tracks. Cyndi has her own room that's private (this is very nice. Especially when getting your hair extensions put in and taken out!). Always friendly and fun to talk to. I look forward to my appointments! And I walk out of Beauty Collective feeling gorgeous. I will come back again and again. Prices are very reasonable especially for such great service. My extensions have lasted longer than I expected and they still look great. If you are looking for longer fuller hair I would say go to Cyndi and don't look back. She will put them in your hair perfectly, blend them flawlessly, trim them if needed, and make sure your hair is everything and more than you could have asked for. So glad I found Beauty Collective! So, I was bored with my hair and decided I wanted to try something creative, and this place seemed inviting enough for it. I usually go only to Japanese Salons, as I have very straight Asian Hair, and they're used to dealing with my kind of hair. Even on men. Unfortunately my usual place didn't have any openings, but luckily Beauty Collective Salon is much much closer. I was paired up with Alyse, who was very friendly and more importantly, worked with me to get my new haircut together. What we ended up with, a mohawk-inspired undercut, turned out awesome, and the process was comfortable as Alyse not only listened intently to what I was asking for, but also worked with me every step of the way to try to get what I was trying to describe. I have literally never asked for a haircut anything close to this ever, and I get the impression most guys who walk in here don't ask for things like that :) It was experimental, so it could have been a horrible disaster - but it was the opposite. We spent a lot of time trying to get the details right, and she was very accommodating to even my pickiest requests. I'll probably come back here on days when I want something different from what my usual Asian Stylists can do, knowing that the folks here have the skill to help me put together a unique hairstyle on those days I feel like being different :) Oh, and the salon itself is really clean and airy, and a pretty chill place to get a cut, especially on a nice warm day. read more

I was recently married in Detroit and Diana N. was recommended to me. I don't live in the area, and feel SO lucky that I was sent to her and the Beauty Collective! Diana did my hair for both the American and Indian weddings and she was amazing. She is extremely friendly and nice, and just wanted to make sure that I loved the way she styled my hair. We had a trial at the salon, which is beautiful, clean and friendly. Diana traveled to the wedding venues and was punctual, professional and just SO good at what she does. I would recommend Diana with flying colors to anyone looking for special occasion styles or just a basic cut. She is wonderful!!! read more

I used to always box dye my hair and completely ruined it. I went to a few salons around the area and was disappointed with a style that didn't suit my face, and a dye job that didn't look professionally done. I went to Alyse, and it was amazing how she not only fixed my color, but cut it in a way that made it so much healthier and able to grow out nicely. I constantly get compliments on my hair and asked where I get it done all the time! I only go to her now and get the same great results every time.
