I'm a repeat customer of this salon and returned today, after a less than stellar experience at my last appointment. Needless to say, I regret it and will not be returning again. My main issue is that the stylist doesn't know much about hair health. That, and she sometimes lacks people skills and maturity. When detangling my hair in the shampoo bowl, I can literally hear my hair ripping from her combing it out... and that is mainly a function of her technique and not starting from the ends. The tools used burn the hair, and while her styles may look good, the hair is often left drier, more brittle, and more likely to break or be damaged. Regarding the experience, one can expect to feel more or less valued based upon your frequency of visits and your age or membership in her community. It is easy to feel unwelcomed if you're not one of her "girls." Definitely not the experience you want when you are paying her borderline inflated prices. Overall, this stylist seems to lack enthusiasm for good client care or that energy that says as a stylist she actually cares about your hair. If there is an issue with your hair health, you shouldn't expect that she will identify it and advise you on how to address it proactively. She's just not that invested. Average at best on styling, nice decorations and branding, but otherwise lacking as a hair care salon. read more

She never disappoints and is always a listening ear. I am a 100% for supporting black businesses but this review isnt for the salon its actually for the braider there Twisted by Troy. I need to be completely honest. I checked her work on Instagram and Facebook and said ok her work looks decent let me take a risk by having her braid my hair. I made an appointment paid my deposit and sent a picture of how I wanted my braids to look. She said that she can do it. My thing is if you can't do my hair the way it looks on the picture be honest with me and say you cant. First thing first I get there by 1pm she text me to let me that she would be late. She started my hair and she was done with my hair at 11:30 pm. I've gotten my hair braided before but it has never took this long. She was completely unprofessional. Why did it take that long you ask. She took so many breaks, stop to watch TV. She would braid then take it down and start over. I was starting to get a little annoyed. My braids didnt match her work that she posted on these social media sites. It certainly wasnt worth $200. She was late to my appointment. It was embarrassing to walk in the streets looking like this. My braids were uneven, it looked crazy. Also another thing most professional braiders trim any hair that sticks out of the braid when it's done. She started getting loud and didnt want to that. She said because she put hot water the hair sticking out on top shouldn't matter. She put hot water at the ends. I've gotten my braided before and everyone trims the hair sticking out. The work shes done to my hair is completely laughable. I felt Robbed and lied to. After getting weird looks and people telling me that she did a bad job I took it down. My hair wasnt worth $200. Beauty Lounge by Lex is one of the best salons I have ever been to! First, the space is beautiful! With the black and white stripes on the wall, glass chandeliers and the very chic furniture I was in heaven. I came in for an invisible ponytail, but ended up dying my hair as well. Lex was punctual, was gentle with my hair (I'm tenderheaded and not once flinched) and she was quick. All while offering great customer service! And did I mention the salon space is BEAUTIFUL?! read more

This is boutique is the best salon I have been to. I am now in LA and I have yet to get service like I did with Lex. I don't know the other stylist but I can speak for Lex and how she styled my hair. I started going to Lex last year after seeing her work on Instagram through a friend. I was very impressed by her quality of work and decided to check her out. I am a seasonal girl and get my hair done around my bday and the holidays but when I go Lex is always very sweet and welcoming and takes the time to discuss my hair situation and what I would like done. I sent Lex an email with a picture of what I wanted done, and she was able to give me a quote over the phone. I went down the same day and Lex did my hair. She was very professional, kind, and hard working. I was also very impressed with the salon. It was huge and very neatly decorated. I plan on going back again for future services.
