The hush puppies were really good. They had a good flavor. It seems like there was crawfish or something inside too. The crab cakes were ok. I kept biting into pieces of shell, so I ended up not finishing them. The fish was fried well. The breading was seasoned, but the fish wasn't seasoned. The remoulade sauce was good. I didn't try the tartar sauce. It didn't take long to get my food and my service experience was nice. Way South is a nice food truck park. I was excited to try this place and it fell short. To start, Beaux was initially nice when we walked up, but got rude once I ordered. He didn't ask for a name for my order or others before me. Once the food was done, he'd just leave it out on the counter. Maybe he was having a bad day? Anyways, aside from that the food was barely seasoned. I got the plate with fried oysters, fried shrimp, and fried catfish; it included fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. I can't really speak on how crispy the food was because I took it to go and we all know fried food gets soggy so that's not really the problem. The coleslaw tasted dirty, like it was tossed in dirt. The shrimp tasted like it was not seasoned at all. The oysters came from a bucket and were also not seasoned. The catfish had maybe a pinch of seasoning but barely anything. The hush puppies and fries tasted the best to me. And I don't even like hush puppies that much. Overall a bust considering the cost, $32 dollars after tax and tip. By far the best food in central Texas. I travel all over the state trying new foods, this place takes the grab prize of them all. The "chef" (not just a cook) has to be a genius. Second time coming here. I really need to eat here more often as they food is so satisfying. First occasion we had boudain balls, crab cakes and fish and shrimp basket. We were super hungry and THOUGHT we could finish all that but no, it was tons of great seafood. Today, had the fish and chips and man, they have BOTH the fish and chips on lock! Fish is beer battered which makes a super light, crispy and airy batter. I made the mistake of having it with malt vinegar-not that it wasn't good, but the fish really didn't need any help as it was killer by itself. Beaux is a 10 out of 10 EVERY TIME. They simply don't miss. So much care is put into this food and the flavors are like a party in your mouth. Tits the best seafood you'll find in this area, and I'd argue that if this was a brick and mortar, they'd likely be one of the busiest spots in town, and one of the best. My only one little gripe (and it's a selfish one), is I wish they offered a burger, or something "kid friendly" as none of my kids are seafood fans (they're missing out!) which means I often have to either A) skip my craving for Beaux seafood lol or B) make two stops to get them good elsewhere. We live in Hills of Bear Creek and there are a ton of families here who absolutely love Beaux's, and I've heard similar feedback from neighbors; that they'd eat there more frequently if there was a small kids or non seafood menu. So, in the business sense, they'd prob attract more customers if they offered just a couple items for the picky eaters, which would allow families or large groups to be able to all eat from the same place. When I noticed this food truck while driving along Main Street, I just KNEW I had to stop in-- I looove seafood and the menu had me drooling in anticipation! I got the "Pick 3 Basket" because I couldn't choose just one thing to try out the first go. Very generous portions; I had leftovers because it was heaping with food. The alligator was very salty with a firm bite much like calamari in texture but not taste. The catfish was moist and flavorful, pairing well with the supplied specialty tartar sauce. The jalapeno hush puppies were sweet but too spicy for me though I liked the crawdad bits in them. The fries were in that yummy limp yet well-fried state. The shrimp were my favorite... perfectly cooked-- not overcooked which is so easy to accidentally do. I didn't try the slaw. The staff were very friendly and easy to chat with. I was given an estimated wait time of ten minutes but my meal was ready in five. They had a really nicely maintained seating area with picnic tables and plants, as well as a restroom back in the parking area. Highly recommended! Definitely some of the best that I've had! The shrimp didn't have much flavor, and the French fries tasted like they were fried in the same oil as any fish....not a good flavor for fries. The other item purchased was the gumbo, and honestly it was low in the gumbo stats. You could tell the rice in it had been reheated and it wasn't spicy, just overall wasn't very great. The hushpuppies are good. That's about it. I've had Beaux's 3 different times now. The first was okay but I think I was blinded by overexcitement of just moving to the area and being happy there were food trucks nearby. The second visit was okay. I got this scallops and rizzotto special that came with Chinese broccoli. Holy sh!t is was soooo salty. So salty that I could only eat half of it, but then I felt like my body was going to shut down from all the salt. The third visit was the last and final visit. All we got was the fish and chips basket. It was off. First, a beer batter should be crispy all the way through. It was still gooey on the inside. And in this case, the batter on the fish was completely bland. Then the fries. GROSS. You can tell the fries were fried in the same oil as everything else in the shop. They tasted like a seafood medley, no potato flavor at all. Beaux, you gotta change that oil, hun, or at least fry the fries in a separate fryer. Ugh, I'm gagging here just thinking about it. Not to mention, my girlfriend vomited up all the food a couple of hours later and I had a stomach ache all evening. Anyway, don't fall for the hype here. Anything fried is going to taste okay.
