I love this place. A good old fashioned campground. Large spacious lots nestled in mature pines. Not perfect, but a nice campground. Very scenic!

This place is amazing! They deliver wood to your camp site, the bathroom and showers are clean! 5 min from Custer State Park, everyone running it were so nice!!!! Also there is the sweetest boxer named Shimmer that will love on you or play if you want! If I could give them 10 stars I would!

Amazing campground! My girlfriend and i, as well as our puppy stayed here for a month to work remotely and it had everything you could ask for. The campground was always peaceful, it was well wooded and everything was in walking distance. We stayed from late April-Mid May, so we almost had the whole campground to ourselves. We didn't have a chance to check out the pool (i think it opens May25?) and would be sure to schedule our next visit during a time when its open. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. Our Cabin C3 was perfect for the two of us. Plenty of space and amenities (mini fridge, microwave, tv, Coffee maker). If a minor repair needed to be done the staff were always on it right away. Didn't get a chance to try their Wi-Fi as we brought our own ATT hotspot, but the hotspot had great connection the whole time to allow us to do our work. Compared to surrounding campgrounds, it was very cozy and had a very family run atmosphere. We stayed at the Rushmore KOA after our stay here only because the last few dates we wanted here were already booked and it was terrible compared to Beaver Lake. If your looking for something more commercial with crazy amounts of activities then the Koa may be right for you, but if your looking for a quiet place to stay and get away from it all then Beaver Lake is defiantly the place. I cant review the RV spots as we were in the cabin but they all looked well placed and spaced out, rather than on top of each other. Almost all the spots have the privacy of trees. All in all i will defiantly be staying at Beaver Lake again in the future!

I stayed at the Rock Crest Lodge this summer when I was in Custer for a wedding. We requested an…read moreaccessible room, and it worked for the most part. There were a few issues...but they were manageable since I wasn't staying in the room alone. Trouble 1) When showering, you can't reach the shower controls while sitting on the shower bench. I keep seeing this in hotels, I'm not sure what they expect you to do. Most people who need a shower bench can't stand up and get the controls! Trouble 2) Tiny little closet rod, difficult to get to behind the table & chairs (and the bathroom door). It's low, to make it an accessible height, but so difficult to reach that it was almost not worth even trying! Trouble 3) Table and chairs in the room would be nice if we were cooking in our room & such, but since we weren't they were really just in the way. The table was too small to pull under when in a wheelchair anyway. Their location meant that I couldn't reach the kitchenette area anyway. If I'd been staying alone I'm not sure how I would have handled the shower, and I would have requested that staff remove the table & chairs. Just thought I'd warn other wheelchair users so they can make an informed decision. The bed was adequately comfortable, water pressure was great, the room a little noisy due to the proximity of the ice-room & the parking lot. Overall - could have been better, but could have been much worse - at least i was able to get in and out! :)

The property is beautiful and very well maintained, and the staff is wonderful. You can tell they genuinely enjoy their jobs, which makes the whole experience even more pleasant. Check-in was quick and easy. The rooms are a bit outdated in style, but they are very clean and comfortable. I do wish the bathroom had been a little larger and that it didn't have a shower curtain instead of a glass door. Housekeeping is not provided daily, but you can request fresh linens and amenities each day, and they will be delivered to your room. Overall, it's fairly priced, great for families, with plenty of parking and lots of nearby services. I would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting the area.

Whether you are a retired couple, family, or young honeymooners- this place is a great place to stay in Custer. The staff was so friendly. There were so many family-centered activities to be outside and enjoy and we tried to take advantage of all of It! Outdoor and indoor pools, a full wall of board and card games and books, an outdoor fire pit setting to enjoy, chalk and jump ropes, a nice outdoor walking trail in nature, ball courts with balls. Our absolute favorite was ordering the cookies and milk bedtime delivery. This was something we could surprise our little kids with that they thought was so magical. Thank you for helping us build such special family memories!!

She gave us the run down on best places to eat and things to do, which was very helpful. HEAVEN. Cabin Lovers, you don't need to search any further for the most amazing cabin experience…read more There is no "LOBBY" so please call the owners to arrange reservations and entry if you find yourself nearby or if you are planning your trip. The 5 acre property is Stunningly Beautiful, Peaceful and Secluded while being just minutes away from the Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt Rushmore and the Town of Custer. The cabins are CLEAN and sturdy, built in 1933 and the fascinating story of who built them with pictures and history adorn the walls of both cabins. There are two cabins; the larger one, "Skyview" has 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and sleeps 13 (or more if sofa bed or cribs are used), the smaller one "Pinecrest" has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath, sleeping 7 (not including sofa bed or cribs). Either one would be wonderful for a Romantic Getaway for 2 or for a Family or large group. Both have FULLY stocked kitchens (the large cabin has complete service for 20)! In each cabin you will find gorgeous hand-hewn large wood beam log construction, a wood-burning fireplace, comfortable beds & furniture, working antique radios, benches and tables made by the builder of the cabins, clothes Washer/Dryer, extra blankets and pillows, lots of towels, authentic western art and decor and FREE WIFI. Outside, both cabins have their own quality gas grills and wood-burning fire pits. The owners provide stacks and stacks of aged, split firewood and only ask for a donation if you use some. There is an expansive lawn of the softest prairie grass my bare feet ever felt. The land is geographically very interesting with a cluster of Ponderosa Pines atop a sudden, jutting section of slate and massive boulders. The sound of the wind through the pines, the Aspen tree grove and the waving prairie grass completes the perfect picture of total happiness that this property afforded my mother and I on our vacation in June 2017 while my boys were at the Medicine Mountain Boy Scout Camp nearby. We plan to return at every opportunity and are looking forward to celebrating my Mom's 80th birthday there in 3 years with the entire family. The owners, Teresa and Vic are very kind, wonderful people and I could tell by the details and decorating and care that these cabins are LOVED. Do NOT let an opportunity to stay here pass you by! I am nearly 50 and have been a cabin/cottage person all of my life when I travel and I've traveled many states extensively including my home state of Colorado and I have never found anywhere that will ever hold a candle to Camp Custer Log Cabins!!!

The location is great, a few minutes away from Crazy Horse, central location to all of the attractions in the Black Hills. The cabin is cozy, has all of the amenities you could need for a great stay. No tv, no problem, we didn't miss it at all. The gal who owns the place is great, she made us feel very welcome and was available if we needed her for anything, which we didn't but it was nice that she was willing. Why not 5 stars? Little bitty things that could use some attention throughout the cabin, such as the shower. The shower is clean, roomy, there's a nice tub if you have kids that want a bath, but, the lever that you pull up to make the water come out of the shower head has a problem where it pushes itself down and then the water is coming out of the main tub faucet instead of the shower head. And there's sort of a problem with flies in the cabin. Could be seasonal, I don't know, but it was hard to keep up with fly control such as swatting them or even sucking them up in the vacum to get rid of them. The last thing we would say is a minor issue is the very bright light in the yard. It tends to take away from the star gazing and general feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere. All in all, we would highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking for an accomodation in Custer and we would most definitely stay there again ourselves if the opportunity presented itself.
