Wow, as good as it gets. This lodge 80 miles of absolutely gorgeous drive from the nearest town just performed an incredible feat!
As a part of a group of about 70 off-roaders that was out for a long day of driving, we had decided on having lunch at the Beaver Lodge, and gave them a head's up that we were coming. This lodge is in a tiny community of only a few, and used to having a clientele likely numbering between one and ten, with slightly larger numbers on weekends. I was apprehensive when I thought about the logistics of bringing in enough staff, food and drink to service so many people 4 hours from anything resembling a store or supply house.
I was told by the proprietor that we were the largest group he had EVER had, and they certainly rose to the task! I found the staff was perfect, the service was very attentive and efficient, the food was delicious, fresh and served hot, the condiments were fresh (mayo, ketchup, etc. still sealed and refrigerated, produce was very fresh and served in abundance,) the ambiance was wonderful and the overall experience could not have been better. Still wondering how they rounded up all of that help.
Don't go expecting a cheap "five star restaurant" at discount prices, at about $10 per plate for lunch plus drink. There are some things that one could be critical of if they were looking, but considering its very remote location and logistics, yesterday's lunch was not only a great value but a very good and memorable experience. I highly recommend this place. Thanks for what you all did for our group! read more
