Mind you guys I her significant other took the car in because she was trying to avoid the process of being take advantage of. Does not matter who you work with you got paid to do a job that you did not do. I have already reported this business to the business bureau. I called all the local shops to make sure they don't ever refer this place of business to anybody! Steve is the owner but loves to argue and has lot of time on his hands when he should organize his place of business... he loves to make excuses and tell you to "calm down and listen" repeatedly no talking to this guy. rather than owning up and making the situation right. Correct he did offer to fix the issue after he told us to park the car on a incline that's the only way to avoid the water from leaking in the car... which then got me truly upset as I never heard of a job being fixed but having to still take precautions... After going back and forth with Steve he did not want to give me my refund I even told him keep the money for the parts give me the labor back as the job was poorly done. We have multiple estimates from other upholstery shops stating the same thing. He then took the offer back after he realized how upset I was on the way he handled the situation. Beaverton Auto Upholstery's convertible top installation job is botched in multiple places. At the front driver's side corner, the fabric is warped. Between the fabric and sealing gasket there is an inch size hole. I stuck a red pencil through this hole to show that it is though the top. It is not possible to fix this big ugly wrinkle because inside the fabric there is hard glue - epoxy resin like substance. If I try to crack that hard resin under the fabric, I shall most definitely tear the fabric. The convertible top seems shorter than it should be. If I fasten the two big mounting screws upfront, then the lower back fabric part on the rear bow, under the rear plastic window is popped up leaving an ugly gap. If I lower that back bow rear fabric lip, then I can not move the front bow forward enough for the 2 big fastening screws to reach their corresponding sockets, The passenger side front upper corner has a screw that is not original chromed, but a generic one taken from fasteners bin. Original screw was lost. There is 1 fabric strip on the vertical sides of the middle bow missing. When I pointed that to Steve Mackley, he told me to glue it myself. Even if the front upper driver's side corner was not messed beyond repair, then I paid $1,079.00 labor to fix the other botched areas myself? The "Screw you, customer: it's good enough" attitude at the Beaverton Auto upholstery is flagrantly outrageous. On 03/08/2024 I brought to Beaverton Auto Upholstery a replacement convertible top, made of German fabric, laser-cut and sewn in the USA (which I had bought from Diamond Mall), with the intention to have it installed by Beaverton Auto Upholstery professionals. However, Steve Mackley, Owner/General Manager, advised me that he was only sure that the convertible top, procured by him, would be a much better choice, since the one I had brought might not fit well. He informed me that the top material would cost about $700 and labor bill would be about $1200.00. Considering that labor cost quote, I decided "not to take chances" and follow Steve's advice. I paid $700 deposit. Steve's top was installed on April 15-16. Upon delivery Steve's son Philip Mackley, the Production Manager, advised me not to stow down the top for 2 weeks "to let it settle". I did not understand, what "settle" meant, because after the original car assembly at the Daimler-Benz factory in Stuttgart, Germany tops had been stowed and metal hard tops had been mounted. On 04/23/2024 great sunny weather tempted me to drive with the convertible top down. Alas, having followed the factory manual I could not stow the top down. I went to Beaverton Auto Upholstery to ask them how to put their top down and also to fix some botched fabric wrinkling. I drove with the top down, but when I had come home, I was not able to put the top up, having tried for an hour. I also noticed that some components were cheap aftermarket. On 04/24/2024 I went to Beaverton Auto Upholstery with a request for them to fix the problems. I was received with a refusal, that Steve Mackley shouted at me. When I said that it was unwise to raise a voice against a paying customer, Steve's son Philip Mackley, the Production Manager, screamed at me on top of his lungs "for disrespecting his father". Steve, Philip and 2 other employees came against me at the parking lot. Steve threatened to hurt me if I came close to my own car when they were forcing to raise the convertible top. read more

DO NOT GO TO Beaverton automotive upholstery. I took my 2003 Mustang GT in for a water leak. The place of business I listed above did an estimate/inspection of the vehicle and told me that the holes needed to be drained as they were clogged from allowing water to pass through. I then took my car in to have that done which I paid $225 for brought the car back, parked it in front of my home and walked to my car the next day and noticed there was still water all in the backseat, which I then called the place of business above again and mention to him that I'm still having a water leak he then did another test/inspection and said that the rear windshield and seal needed to be replaced as that is what's causing the water leak. Me trusting the place of business and their expertise. I went ahead and paid a $400 deposit in order for them to work on the car and then paid them $525 when I picked up the car after they said they had fixed the problem. The next day I go to leave to work, my whole front and back of the car is completely drenched in water. I have pictures videos of what the vehicle looked like before I took it to the shop and what it looks like after I got it back from the shop. You can tell the job was not done correctly the water is still in the car and worse than when we gave the car to the shop. I never had water leaking in the front seats, I was just dealing with the back now I have water in the front seat the backseat all over the car. The seal is completely destroyed and put on so poorly. I called a few other upholstery shops. Emailed them pictures of the job that was done by Beaverton auto upholstery. They all told me the same thing. The water was coming from elsewhere, so why did Beaverton automotive upholstery fix something that did not need to be fixed and in the mix of doing that They now caused a water leak coming in to the front of my car which I never had that issue when I gave them the car in the beginning. I have tried to communicate with the owner Steve for about five days now via email and phone call he keeps finding excuses as to why he can't give me my money back. I stated to him I don't feel comfortable, bringing the vehicle back to the place of business as he did a job that didn't need to be done not only that while doing a job that didn't need to be done. He also caused another problem to occur, which is now leaking water in the front seat. He refuses to give me a refund and is demanding I bring the vehicle back to be worked on, but I myself do not feel comfortable taking the vehicle back to a place that didn't do the job correctly the first time. I have reached out to ask for my funds back, but he will not give me my funds back and is telling me a bunch of things like if I go to small claims court, he will countersue me and if I try to dispute my money, the bank won't give me my money back. He keeps telling me things like he's done this before. I've been trying to communicate with the owner Steve regarding the situation just to get my money back so I can take my vehicle to another place to get it fixed as now it has water everywhere and a messed up seal. He is telling me that he will not give me my money back and that the only option is for me to bring the car back for him to try and fix. obviously the water is coming from under the car and not the hood or the window so why was it replaced? (because they want to make money off of people by fixing things that don't need to be fixed and saying it's a step-by-step process to take money from people who are in a vulnerable situation) When I told him I have estimates from other upholstery shops stating the job was done incorrectly, he told me that if I brought the car back to him, he would charge me then when he saw how upset I was, he then changed his mind and said if you bring the car back to me, I'll do it for free but now after all the back-and-forth and feeling taken advantage of and threatened by him telling him he's gonna countersuit me if I try to get my money back, I just don't feel comfortable taking my vehicle back to him or a place of business like that. I got a recommendation to go to this shop from a mechanic shop (which I called back and told them to never recommend this place of business to anybody) I feel very upset that this happened as it is costing me money to take Ubers to go back-and-forth from work because I cannot use my vehicle because it is soaked in water, which will then cause mold, which then can get me sick. He doesn't care to hear any of this. He is telling me the only option is to bring the car back which again, I do not feel comfortable doing so I will attach pictures, invoices, emails everything I have to prove that I was not at fault, I just want my money back! Steve the owner waisted 5 days going back and forth with me on emails instead of making it right by giving me my money back which I have every right to get back. read more

Overall, we were very happy with the quality of the upholstery job for our van. The material choices, quality of installation, and overall price for the options were all very good. Our original installation date was delayed by months, but it was all understandable delays and they did communicate about the need to reschedule. The turnaround time, once they had the vehicle, was actually quicker than anticipated. Nice people, easy to work with. We can't give them five stars because they did overlook one specific option that we clearly requested and wanted, and when we called to ask if they had charged us for that forgotten option, they never got back to confirm one way or the other. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I called this place to fix my moonroof which had some minor issues (was not closing evenly). I asked Steve (manager on duty) to close the roof then sealed it. He understood exactly what I needed and quoted me $150 to do the job. He only did one part of the work (sealing the moonroof without making it even) and he did not use enough sealant, thus the roof is worse than before he worked on it. When I tried to ask him why he did that, he was very combative and unwilling to listen. He pretended that I miscommunicated. Very dissatisfied with their work and I would never recommend anyone. Find someone else with better customer service who is willing to listen to customer complaints. About three years ago, I drove from San Diego to Portland to have Beaverton Upholstery install a new top on my 2003 Honda S2000. They did a beautiful job! About 6 months ago, I discovered a two inch split along one seam in the top. You can imagine my concern! I contacted Upholstery to see how I might deal with the split and to see if it was possible to have it repaired. Steve at Upholstery quickly identified the problem as a flaw that would be covered by my warranty. The company that supplied the top agreed to replace it. But since I live in San Diego, the cost of installation here would have been close to $1000. Upholstery was quick to assure me that they would do the replacement at no charge. We lived in Portland for many years and still have friends and family there, so it was an easy decision to make a trip to Portland and let Upholstery do the work. We scheduled some weeks ahead and took the car in on the appointed date. Upholstery went right to work and the car was done the next day. When I first saw the new top, my reaction was that Steve had magically healed the tear! The new top was installed perfectly (as the first one had been) and looks great. Steve assures me that flaws such as the one I experienced are very rare and that I should expect many years of service from my new top! I can't say enough good things about Upholstery! It is no wonder that they enjoy a national reputation for quality work in the art of automotive upholstery. read more

They called and said sear is done couldn't do console. I didn't even care about the seat they ordered the wrong part and said now they are stuck with it. Boohoo, wanted double to do the console. First off, this company does fine work, considering the small project I had done. And that is what matters most, right? I can't speak to price, as I didn't check anywhere else. However, in my experience, customer service fairly sucks, to put it plainly. Evidently Steve is the owner, and I found him to be rather unfriendly; rude and unconcerned about treating a customer well. His manner when he spoke to me plainly said I really don't care about you, so don't bug me any more than you have to. When I first brought the car in he interrupted me to cut to the chase when I was trying to explain, briefly, about my project. He did the same thing when I spoke with him on the phone (the day after it was supposed to be done). It wasn't like I was talking a lot. But he interrupted after I had said a few words and asked what kind of car it was. I don't appreciate this. At all. If he doesn't care about me or common civility, he should at least care in terms of his own best interests. When I came to pick up the part he kept me waiting at the desk, after ringing the bell, when he was evidently doing something right around the corner. When he did bother to come and help me the look in his eyes and manner of speaking were communicating you are annoying. Just pay me and leave. So, you don't necessarily expect a business like this (or a mechanic, plumber, etc.) to put customer courtesy first. But I have dealt with plenty of businesses (mechanics in particular) that do. I have been treated like royalty at some of these places. And as long as they do a good job, which a professional, customer centric business usually does, that is the place I go back to. And the place I write good reviews about. Beaverton Upholstery, not so much. read more

I had used this company a few years ago to repair my worn out driver's seat. They matched the leather exactly and the new cushioning was better than the original. Now, my passenger seat was in need of the same TLC. I drove over to where I'd gone before and was surprised to find that they weren't there! My first fear was that COVID had caused them to close! I called the phone number that I still had on my old invoice and was happy when someone answered. They gave me their new address and I went right over. I was told that it would be about a month before they could get me in. They called me the day before my appointment and asked if I could bring my truck in that night as they have a swing shift now! Horrible...first of all they waited until the last minute to order my top, while holding my deposit for over a week. Secondly they ordered the wrong top. That pushed a two day job thru the weekend and into the next week. In the rush to finish the job, they broke two clips vital to the proper water drainage off the top. Instead of delivering the bad news of the clips and the necessary time to order and replace them they decided to deliver the car unfinished, with a promise to install the clips when they receive them...frustrated I decided to have them mail the clips to me and install them myself. They didn't put enough stamps on the package and it was returned to them delaying the process even further. Through all of this transaction they're ownership and staff maintained a constant vibe of being "holier than thou" and obviously feel they are a big F'in deal...fact is they are an overpriced, botched job waiting to happen. Never having received one bit of humility nor a single apology I honestly can say this is the worst work and service I have experienced in a very long time. I'm getting my truck ready to sell and had a four inch hole in the driver's seat from where i slide into the seat. I got quotes from several places. When I met Steve Mackley, the owner of Beaverton Auto Upholstery, I knew I'd found the right place to get my seat repaired. Steve spent a good deal of time trying to exactly match the Ford material and didn't stop at a close match...he matched it precisely. The quote was $250. I thought it was a fair price and agreed to have the work done. Having just moved to Beaverton from out of state, I didn't have anyone that could give me a ride home. Steve graciously offered to have his wife drop me off at home...talk about customer service! I'd expected the work to take at least a couple of days but much to my surprise, they called the next morning to say the work was done...less than 24 hours. The craftsmanship was topnotch and the price? My bill was $195...$55 less than quoted! I spent a little time looking around their shop and the various work being done there. They do some incredibly nice custom work...I was thoroughly impressed. Finally, I really like giving my business to nice folks and these people are the nicest....friendly, helpful and completely professional. I can't recommend Beaverton Auto Upholstery highly enough. Make sure you get your quote in writing! I called the night prior to going in to the shop to schedule my appointment. I was quoted $150 to remove side bolster bars from my seat over the phone. When I went to the shop the next day, that price changed from $150 to $200. I can chalk this up to seeing the car and the seat and being able to give an accurate quote. Fair enough. However, the issue that I have is the discussion of additional work. We also discussed some work to be done on the back of the seat. He told me it would be an additional $50 to go into it and do what is needed, but there may be additional charges pending the amount of work needed. Fair, we agreed that if we were going to exceed the $50, a call would be placed to quote what that price is, and then work would be authorized at that point. 3 weeks later, I take my vehicle in to be repaired for the scheduled appointment. I dropped it off and left the key in the drop box the night prior. I get a call early afternoon the next day that the vehicle is done. I call back and we discuss the work and how it went. I am then told the price was now $395. I asked why was I not called about the additional pricing? We agreed to $200 to remove the bars from the bottom bolsters, and $50 for the back padding. If we were exceed this, I were to be called to authorize the charges. Steve tells me, I wrote down $250+ back of seat. Moral of the story is, make sure you get your quote down in writing. Apparently writing down the price and time of appointment on the back of their business card per his request is not good enough. I will NEVER bring or recommend work to be done here which is a shame being a repeat customer. The quality of work is not the issue at all. It's due to the poor customer service, and the fact that simple instructions that were set and agreed upon at the beginning could not be followed or honored. read more

These guys are awesome. All of them are very helpful and knowledgable and they did a great job. I had them make me a new headliner for my 1987 Vanagon and it turned out great. I then asked them to make me new door panels to match the new headliner and they went out of their way to make it look OEM and not just fabric thrown onto a new panel. They helped me pick out colors to match the new materials and paint and made sure to keep up communication with me so I knew where we were in terms of progress. BEST EXPERIENCE. I had a hole in the leather passenger seat of my Lincoln Navigator. There are no easy fixes to this as the lincoln puts tiny diamond shaped holes along the seats and everyone else has round holes. Steve said he would call some junk yards to see if anyone had an extra navigator seat laying around, which he did find! He saved me so much money buying it for $150 rather than getting a new seat from Lincoln was so expensive. Once I was scheduled it was in for one day and it looks absolutely perfect. I was referred to Beaverton Auto Upholstery by my neighborhood auto shop, so didn't hesitate to call. I own a 10-year old VW Jetta, and the driver's side vinyl/leather seat had two tears needing repair. I arranged bring the car in for a price estimate. Promptly, I was given a price for the job, and an appointment about two weeks out for the work to be done. At the time of the estimate, I was told the work they could do may not be an exact match to the factory seat, but close. Once the work was done, we were very pleased with the results. We can't tell any difference between the dot patterns in the passenger seat compared to the driver's seat, and there are no new seams or color differences. It looks great! I will happily recommend Beaverton Auto Upholstery to others, and return if ever we need upholstery work again. read more

The picture with the upholstery that disintegrated the most in the picture is the drivers seat. When you click on the picture you can tell by the backseat that it is the drivers seat.
