I moved to Portland not long ago and was worried about finding a dentist that could come close to the one I had back in Dallas...I was not disappointed. The staff is honest, friendly, and warm. They will greet you with a big smile and call you by your name. The facility is clean and they have a neat waiting area with refreshments. The staff will go out of their way to accommodate different schedules and even a walk-in if needed. They have enough toys, books, and gadgets to entertain the young ones. My experience here has been great so far. Scheduling was easy and Julie at the front desk is awesome. I have been coming here for awhile and at one point my jar started getting very sore. I was unable to open fully and my jaw just seemed to be getting worse. I called up and they were able to see me a few days later to allow Dr. Wong to see what was going on. After a quick exam, he gave me a few options and one was to try Botox Therapy. He would do a few injections around those jaw muscles that were clinching up. That night I was still feeling the same, but after around 24 hours the majority of the pain was gone and my jaw was opening back up and feeling much better. I didn't need to do a second round of injections- the one round of Botox and now using a mouth guard at night is keeping everything feeling really great. read more

I made a cleaning appointment a month and a half ago. When I showed up for the appointment, they immediately said that I need a full mouth Xray. I didn't know if the coupon I was using would cover for that. I showed the hygienist the coupon and she immediately talked to the office manager. The office manager said that even though the ad is clearly stated the office location, address and phone number but they do not honor the ad. This is false advertising to get people in the door. Beware of this false advertisement and don't waste your time. This is so unfortunate that I waited this long for a cleaning. I am sure that I am not the only one. read more

I left my favorite dentist ever when I moved to the area and I was pretty bummed. I ended up here because it was close to my apartment and I'm so glad I did! They are so caring and warm, they truly feel like family. The moment I walk in the door they know my name, they ask how I've been, and you just feel so taken care of. I see Dr. Walkup and she's so friendly and approachable. I really enjoy my visits with her, I know that she will be kind and answer any question I have without making me feel guilty or dumb. Let's be honest, no one likes going to the dentist but this office is not like any of the offices I've ever been to. This place is HEAVEN. As far as dentists go, Dr. Wong is the best! He has been my dentist ever since I was a little kid. Dr. Wong is always light-hearted and kind, and I liked that he informed me on what's going on instead of just going straight to the parents. Cool guy! We had a small stint of time where we switched to another dentist, but it wasn't the same, so we came back to Tendercare! Front office people are very friendly and efficient. The hygienists here are also nice, and they do thorough cleanings. They recently had a total renovation of their waiting area as of a few years ago. Never in my life did I think I would have a dentist visit with absolutely zero pain, not even with the numbing shots! The staff members were so kind and empathetic (and funny) and the doctor did beautiful work. They were attentive and answered my questions every step of the way. I'm grateful for Julie and April suggesting payment plans. I would like to praise the doctor by name but she was wearing a Covid/medical mask and I don't know which doc she was, oops! But judging by the positivity and happiness I saw in the staff, the entire team is very good. Also, I was happy to have a firm price before my treatment so I could plan ahead. They are unprofessional, rude and lput her palm like a child and said "goodbye". 5 min late to an appointment and that's how they treated my sister, while her manager was backing her being just as rude. We couldnt find the door to go in, called and asked April how to go in. She answers "through the door" nightmare began and ended there. Never seen this disrepect anywhere especially dentist offices. Had an appointment at this dentistry and we arrived, unable to find the door. We called and were told by April, "the way you walk in is through the door". took us 10-15 minutes to just find the door and when we walk in, Julie, "office manager" informed us that they can't see us because we were "late". I had a terrible experience with the receptionist and overall experience at TenderCare Dental. When the hygienist told me I needed an x-ray, I asked if this was covered by my insurance. She mistakenly told me yes, So I agreed to get the x-ray. Later on I got a bill from TenderCare Dental, , I found out they billed me for the entire x-ray instead of my insurance covering it. If they made a mistake, it's okay If they let me know it's a mistake. But what was not okay was what happened afterwards. When i called them, the receptionist told me need time to check. Then they called me back said that only 80% of my dental cleaning is covered by my insurance. And asked me to check with insurance. I did so, and insurance assured me that dental cleaning is 100% covered, what was not coved is the Xray not due yet. It seems like they're either making things up or trying to cover up the mistake they made. When I called to speak with the receptionist about some of these insurance questions, she yelled at me says that's you and your insurance' problem, not her problem. And hung up on me without finishing the conversation. This was an extremely upsetting experience and now how you should treat customers. If you made a mistake without checking the insurance is covered, just say you don't know or you have to double-check, but don't double-down on your own mistake and then bring your abuse onto the customer! read more

There's definitely a reason people here leave negative reviews about the front desk staff. Bummer because I was really looking forward to this appointment and had waited over a month. I marked the wrong time in my calendar, so I called and asked about ten minutes and they said that I HAD to be exactly on time and I heard that, so I dropped everything, rearranged my day, and ran there. I show up exactly on time and they tell me I need to reschedule because I hadn't done the paperwork that would have taken me all of about a minute to complete. They could have told me on the phone when I called that unless I had done that, I would need to reschedule. That hour of wasted time really threw my day, I could have honestly taken it with a little kindness if in fact they were just such a slammed dentist office with no people in the waiting room, but I was taken so off guard with the rudeness of front desk staff, I did honestly pop off. I'm a patient person, I never get mad, but their tone was so hateful and disrespectful, it even had my blood boiling. I was there for a Botox consult for my jaw, just a consult, where I was going to potentially pay hundreds out of pocket. But I told them to cancel my appointment because I couldn't deal with their snobby Karen attitudes. I get it, it's not always fun to deal with customers, I've been in the service industry. But I had given no reason prior to their snide comments to be treated that way. In these situations, it's best to be a little graceful and accommodating to the customer. I've been a restaurant manager, worked in retail, and am now a manager at Nike, I put up with lot of in the moment craziness and I can still do it all with a smile. I was slammed with meetings in the morning and had already had a crazy day. The front desk is the face of your business, it gets people to want to walk through the door. You don't expect receptionists to scare you away. Sounds like you guys may want to make some changes to your front desk so the dentists can keep their business. Doctor GAO and dr Wang have been both great for me and my two little ones. They are more than patient and kind to my kids who were 2.5 and 4.5 years old. We even had cavities filled for my almost 5 year old year and dr GAO explained it every step and made it into a game, my son handled it very well. Dr Wang responded to my out of office hour texts quickly and patiently as well. The office staff have all been pleasant and respectable. Fees were all explained in advance so that there was no surprises. We recommend this practice. read more

I've been going there for years and have yet to experience anything negative. The flexibility in scheduling, the reminders for your appointments and the friendly atmosphere make it a very comfortable place to be. There have been periods when our insurance changed or we moved out of state and had to seek care elsewhere, but we always return as soon as possible because they really are the best! Dr. Gao and her team are wonderful. Whether it's routine cleaning or a repair (fillings, crown), Dr. Gao explains what she is doing and quickly but gently gets things fixed! When I was a kid, I had a horrible experience with an old dentist who yanked my tooth out, and ever since then, I have always been very reluctant to have dental care. That resulted to lots of cavities, and just third world country smile. I made a schedule here when I saw it on Yelp because this business has consistently been getting great scores from their customers,and also because it's close to where I live. When I entered the office, the receptionist greeted us right away. The waiting room is beautiful, serene, and very relaxing. They have two CPUs that any person can use if they're waiting for someone, there's a variety of teas as well. I had Dr. Wong as my dentist and he is just wonderful! He was very gentle, informative, and very easy to work with. He explains what he needs to do, and he is very good with pain management amongst his patients. I just met him and I already know I will finally get all of my teeth fixed, because I feel comfortable with such a caring, knowledgeable dentist, who goes far and beyond dentistry. I am definitely going to make it a point to come back and be a regular patient here. I feel like he's been an old family friend forever! Several years ago I moved to the area and was worried about finding a good dentist. I was soon in immediate need of a root canal and I ended up getting a GREAT Dentist. Long story short, I had some old work that was failing and over the last two years Dr. Wong and his staff have gone above and beyond to help me with appointments and insurance and getting everything done in a quick, efficient manner. I was then lucky to win the Invisalign sweepstakes. Dr. Wong had been mentioning it would be a good thing as my teeth were heading in some challenging angles. After the initial pictures and Invisalign treatment planning, I was amazed at the video he showed me and what it would do to my teeth. More than that, what it would do to my whole face. I had no idea how sunken my cheeks were just because my teeth were tilting in. My whole face feels like it has changed and I smile bigger and more often, no longer hiding. Now, after 14 months I am done with my Invisalign treatment and have to say, if you are even thinking about it a little, go see Dr. Wong. It doesn't matter if you need a little straightening or a miracle, he can help. The best part about my appointments to get new trays, or just check ins for the treatment was his joy in how his patients were doing. I'm a graphic designer and an interesting quote I ran across once went like this: "your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after an experience with you becomes your trademark." Going by this then my logo used to be a pretty silly one. Before coming to Dr. Wong to straighten my teeth my smile used to be really crowded, especially in the front where it's most visible, so I would rarely smile with my teeth showing. I was definitely self conscious of the way they looked anytime I smiled, so I wouldn't show them often. I wanted my smile to be remembered, and not for how funny it looked, that's when I decided to get braces. To get the smile I wanted I trusted Dr. Wong, who suggested I go the Invisalign route over conventional braces which would be cheaper and more efficient. After taking a few impressions he was even able to show me a virtual model of my teeth after each set of aligners through to the end. What comforted me about having Dr. Wong work on something so important to me is the pride and care he takes in his work, much like myself. I could tell just by the way he talked about my teeth that it's not just a job for him, it's a passion. There's nobody I would trust more with my dental work than Dr. Wong and his team at Tender Care. The team there is full of the most amazing people. Dr. Wong is the BEST!!! He is so warm, personable, and professional. My 14 year old son had calcium deposits on his two front teeth for years. To make a long story short, his ortho and several dentists told us it is just what it is and a few even suggested veneers. We were finally referred to Dr. Wong by a former pediatric dentist of my son's. End result: My son's teeth look AMAZING!!!! We are so happy with the outcome. Dr. Wong also knew my son was leaving for a trip next week and came out to the front desk to speak to his office manager and squeezed him in despite being completely overbooked.
