Beckett's has become one of my favorite spots to go when Up-Down is packed, and it honestly ended up being a great find. The environment is really fun, especially during big games like March Madness where the energy in the room makes it a great place to watch. I've also made it my go to spot for watching the NBA Finals, and I'm already planning on coming back for the World Cup. It's the kind of place where you can just settle in, grab a drink, and enjoy the game with a good crowd around you. Beckett's was confusing. The patrons surprised me. I expected a sports bar with typical baseball cap sport's fans, but Beckett's crowd was eclectic, representing Uptown's Bohemian nature. Although it was a sunny and warm Saturday afternoon in October, Beckett's was packed, and I found the only empty seat at the bar. Yes, there were TVs with football on the screens, but no one was watching. With a full bar, the bartender was too busy to interact with a stranger, but his service was professional. A block from Lake Street, Beckett's diverse clientele was completely different from bars just a few blocks south. That's what I'm learning about Minneapolis. Neighborhoods can change just a few blocks away. That's unique. Beckett's was fine, but didn't provide me with a distinct impression. read more

This is a great hole in the wall bar right off of Lake Street. Beckett's is on the lake street strip Nestled between Wrecktangle and the Up Down. Here you'll find typical bar fair but the chef puts his heart into everything he makes. The smaller menu helps with any decision paralysis you might be having because there aren't as many options. This place also keeps the kitchen open late so if you're hungry and looking for a bite I can recommend Becketts. read more

I came here on a Saturday night to see what replaced Fool Me Once (we really loved that bar)! My friends and i only got two flavors of the buckets and both tasted great! However, i do feel as if they were quite weak. I wouldn't say i'm a heavyweight when it comes to drinking but these definitely should've been having me feel a little more tipsy from the size of the drink. i guess you can't expect much for such a big drink being $13. The cookie shot they have is pretty good but they kinda just taste like baileys The music was good and the decor was cute for a sports bar! My little cousin took me to one of his favorite spots in the city, he is into happy hours these days and he was raving about these buckets that Becketts have during happy hour so we went to go check it out. Becketts is a decent size, they have indoor and outdoor seating, they have patio and rooftop options.  Really dark inside, I wasn't a fan of the lighting so we took our food and drinks upstairs to the rooftop.  The weather was amazing so it was a good decision on our part. They have a hybrid system going on here, and what I mean by that is we ordered our drinks with the bartender and we had to order our food online.  I can see how this can be convenient for the establishment and efficient as a customer. I wish I remembered the bartender's name but she was very nice, didn't really give any suggestions when I asked for some but the experience overall was pleasant.  The menu is incredibly simple so we made our orders pretty quickly. The food was surprisingly good, like sneaky good. I did not expect much from a local bar but the food was delicious.  We had Korean BBQ wings and a smash burger. I have no clue what was in that smash burger but it is a must have, the wings were actually fire too. Smash burger was definitely the highlight, and as far as the buckets I had the John Daly.  The allure of the bucket is cool, but there's a pinch of liquor in there. It is just juice. But I mean for $5 dollars I kind of expected that, no way I would spend that much and think I'm gonna get wasted lol. read more

While this place is absolutely not my typical vibe because I don't watch sports and don't really have a college age anymore lol however, the wings that I get here are absolutely amazing! Super crispy, juicy tender meat and the sauces are amazing. The cooks in the kitchen are always really nice which is where you actually order. Overall this is a great spot. read more

Went here for happy hour which is $5 for burgers beers and buckets and it was a really good deal for a solid burger and a pretty large drink. The drinks aren't super boozy but they have around 5 fun flavors to choose from. The tables are kind of skinny so if you're here with a large group it might get a little cramped. There are a lot of tvs playing different games so you can watch sports from almost any seat. You order food off an app and you pick it up from a counter so there isn't a ton of table service besides the occasional worker clearing cups during happy hour. read more

my favorite bar so far in minneapolis! and the most delicious food ever! i have tried many restaurants and other bars trying to find a decent burger... and beckett's has the most flavorful one yet! the fries and wings and tenders are also the best! every on tap margarita is always delicious and the service is always great! on a weekend night it is definitely a lot more lively and packed than my personal preference but if you enjoy that this is your place! the decor and tvs and games always on is always fun to watch even as a non sports person! read more

I had such high hopes! Weakest drinks I've ever encountered. I've been waiting for this place to open for weeks, and the interior is wonderfully put together, the music is BANGING yet weakest drinks!!! I ordered a DOUBLE cranberry after consuming one of their buckets (3/4ths mixer and 1/4 liquor for $15) and still had to go to the bar to get an extra "shot" to add to the "double." The shot they poured was the smallest shot glass/ shot I've ever seen. I've been in the industry for 8 years and never seen such sober alcoholic drinks. Also the cheese curds are mostly batter.
