I gotta deal with it so I swung by this wonderful shop, conveniently just a few minutes walk from the NE 60th Ave MAX station. My barber was Elias, who mentioned that he is newer to the craft, but he clearly has a knack for it! I can be a nervous lil shit but I felt right at home in Elias chair, and the cut was exactly what I wanted. I don't have experience with the other barbers here, but I saw them at work in the shop and I would trust any of 'em. Can be hard to find a place that gives great cuts, feels comfortable for folks from a working-class background, AND avoids the chauvinistic feeling that some of the 'good ol boy club' shops that I've visited. She went on a rant about how much she hates Trump and couldn't stand her family members that like him...Umm, I'm sorry, but I didn't come to hear about that, I came for a haircut. So unprofessional...To top it off, the haircut wasn't even good in the slightest, so much so that I had to fix it when I got home...and yet I still tipped her! Ugh. Samantha is an excellent barber. Her skill is extraordinary and her demeanor is amiable and upbeat. I would definitely recommend her to anyone seeking a quality haircut. The one star off is for my encounter with Kris. I don't know anything about his hair cutting skill but his attitude is off-putting. Apparently I was talking too loud on my phone and he snapped at me to, "Take it outside!" I immediately hung up the phone. A few moments passed and he asked me what I was doing there. I informed him I was waiting for a friend who was having their haircut by Samantha. I also told him that my sister had been in the hospital for several days and someone was calling to tell me that she was dead. He chuckled and offer me some water. I politely declined. I just want to say that from start to finish these guys made me feel at home. I just moved into the area 2 weeks ago today so I'm still lost when it comes to finding anything good. I've also been really anxious trying to find a new barber. I messaged the shop on Instagram to see if they cut women's hair. The owner Brian was quick to reply and welcomed me right off the bat. (Granted, I have really really short hair, so it wasn't an issue... as this is a barber shop). I scheduled my appointment with Kris online via their website. Super quick and easy! I arrived 30mins early and my wife accompanied me. Everyone in the shop was so down to earth, super nice, and welcoming. Brian was on his way out for the day and touched bases with his staff and customers. He also introduced himself to my wife and I and shook our hands. That was awesome! It totally made me feel at ease and I had no worries getting my hair cut there. I know how it can be when you're in a barber shop... it's a guys place. They come to kick back, get a cut, vent or shoot the shit, and have a beer. The last thing they want to worry about is having to watch their mouths if a woman is present lol. Anyway, that was so not the case here and I couldn't be more grateful for that. Kris was awesome! He's a super nice guy and great at what he does! Their beer fridge is temporarily out of order and Kris was gracious enough to walk a few doors down to get my wife and I a cold one. He really rolled out the red carpet for us and I truly appreciate that! He took his time to get to know me and how I wanted my hair cut. I get a metal 1 fade with a fohawk on the shorter side. Probably about 3/4 to 1 inch on top. He executed it to the T! I couldn't be happier with the service I received today! Thank you so much for loving what you do Kris.
