Tonight's dinner was good but not great. The salmon came out pretty dry and overcooked. The rice and snap peas were good. The salad came out fresh as it gets. The desert was pretty tasty- we got the strawberry cake and chocolate. We've had some great experiences here with the food in the past, maybe next time will be better. I will say the service is always outstanding. The people who are serving are attentive and make sure you have what you need. Lots of small town charm happening within this restaurant. Walking in to the restaurant could not help but notice it was very clean and taken care of. I sat at the bar, the bartenders were very helpful on the recommendations so I Ordered a build your own burger Requested med. and it came out PERFECT Sweet Potato Fries were on point The staff was very nice cannot remember their names. We are the Whiskey Pineapple Chicken sandwich and the Pineapple Shrimp tacos. The tacos were outstanding and large. The chicken was very good but small. Several bites were just the pineapple, veggies and bread---if larger everything would have been GREAT. There was a singer so it was a great atmosphere. The best meal on our trip to Wellsboro and Leonard Harrison State Park was served at Beck's Bistro on Main Street, about two blocks from the Penn Wells Hotel. Beck's is an adaptive reuse of an old commercial establishment, with exposed used brick walls, wood plank floor, high ceiling and large plate glass windows looking over Main Street. Service was attractive and efficient, and the full service bar in the main room beautifully set up in wood and polyurethane. They have a decent craft beer selection which we took advantage of. Our meals were light, but exceptionally delicious. We both had vegetable dishes. The better half had Roasted Beet Salad with Salmon, and I, their Roasted Brussel Sprouts in a Glaze. Both were superb. Loved the red and white beets and the vinaigrette they bathed in. The salmon was crisp with good flavor. Not fishy at all. The Brussels were among the best I have had the pleasure to entertain - charred, but firm and a delight. With appropriate background music (Rock ballads), and attentive service, it was a superior evening that surprised us by its quality and enjoyability. Don't miss this one. read more

Was looking around Wellsboro for something new and found Beck's an excellent choice. Friendly service, a great menu, skillfully prepared food and competitive prices all in a comfortable and convenient space right off Main Street. Not too crowded or noisy, easy to hold a conversation without having to raise voices - and with the food as good as it was there was lots to talk about! Will definitely be back for more. read more

I ordered a veggie burger and it was soft, the bun was doughy and not even toasted- I left it mostly uneaten and told the server it was just too squishy, she said oh, I'll let the cook know. I paid full price- a mushy burger and a tiny salad= $$$ the place was pretty neat and clean, lots of full tables- I expected better. Oh well. read more

The food was excellent. The service, not so much. We had a reservation and were seated somewhat promptly. Then we sat, ignored, for more than 15 minutes. When the hostess noticed this, she apologized profusely and offered us a drink on the house. More than 10 minutes later that drink finally arrived. Our waitress took the rest of our order. A few minutes later a waitress, not ours, brought my husband's salad (we were still waiting for our appetizer). Next the appetizer appeared. We were a little way into that and our entrees were delivered. First nothing, then rushed. And, at no time were any of our empty dishes removed. We just stacked them up in the center of the table. As previously noted, the food was delicious, but at $30+ an entire, I expect much better in the service department. read more

We were very pleasantly surprised. Lunch special wrap and ham & cheese wraps were excellent. Nice staff. Nice atmosphere. Clean. Good prices. Served up tastefully. The song Communication Breakdown by Led Zeppelin comes to mind after eating here tonight. Upon entering the restaurant the hostess told us they were very busy. She sat us al fresco at my request. The outdoor seating was quite nice with umbrellas over each table. Our waitress took our order within 10 minutes. I ordered a burger and side broccoli salad and my companion ordered a soup and salad with warm steak topping. After about an hour I inquired about our meal status as both parties on either side of us were eating their meals and had ordered after us. The waitress said our meal was coming right out. Shortly thereafter part of our meal arrived along with the hostess. My companion's meat on her salad was cold so the hostess took it back to the kitchen. My burger was tasty but my side was missing. The hostess offered to take $20 off. When she returned with the warmed salad I asked to take 20% off. She reiterated $20. I told her I hadn't yet received my full order but I don't want it now. She asked what was missing. I told the broccoli side. She again said orders are put in as they are taken at which point she looked at each table next to us and realized they were both finished eating. She comped both our meals. Poor communication all around between wait staff, kitchen and front staff. 2 stars for the burger. It was cooked as ordered. read more

Well it is like this, the food is great dont get me wrong. I ordered a grill chicken wrap which came with chips. Chips were not so good with no taste but wrap great. Now the prices are crazy, $15.00 for that wrap, well that should have came with gold for those prices.. read more
