Dear Fellow Shoe Shoppers, I just needed to post my very pleased and happy experience at Becks Shoes and Gi Gi's assistance. I purchased a pair of shoes in April, dream shoes, Ahnu brand, loved them and Al was an amazing sales person and super helpful! The only problem was within a month they had stretched out a bit too much to be easily wearable and I was disappointed. I brought back my worn shoes to the store and expected them to say no way, these have been worn, can't help you. Instead GiGi asked me if she could check it out and get back to me the next day....I got a call back and went in to exchange the shoes, they had another pair, a different style of Ahnu shoes, I exchanged for, and I paid 10 dollars more and couldn't be happier! Ahnu shoes feel like you have had them forever and no breaking in period for comfort, I love them! So overall, excellent customer service, complete customer satisfaction, super sales help and no pressure to buy. Great selection and they always seem to have my size in stock 40,41 or 9.5 or 10 in ladies shoes! Amazing! Thank you so much! I also went in and just bought two more pairs of shoes from GiGi as they were on sale! and who doesn't need a comfortable pair of great shoes?! I went to Beck's for a pair of slip-resistant work shoes. I always see people wearing bulky black shoes that aren't very appealing. Beck's had a nice selection and I found a pair of shoes that were cool and functional. Matthew helped me out and was very helpful and charismatic. After getting my size Matthew brought me a good fitting shoe and sold them to me. We chatted a little bit --and he was actually funny. Ultimately, I thought it was a good shopping experience and both Colby (the other employee there at the time) and Matthew seemed to have a good amount of product knowledge. read more

It's been years since I stepped into this specific Beck's Shoes and I am still impressed with their service. I worked in grocery retail for years so am always on my feet. You learn really quick about having quality shoes, but most importantly finding the right people to ask for help. Every shoe I've purchased from Beck's has been top notch in comfort and durability. I came in today since I was in the area (got my other shoes in the bay area) to see if anything could be done about one of the soles slightly breaking(defect I suppose). I'm very late writing this review, but it had to be done. I went into Beck's looking for shoes to wear to work. I work in the medical field, and it seems Dankso's are pretty standard, but I was leery. Beth Morland took the time to help me size the shoes and answer all of the questions I had. She even made sure to make sure I bought the leather protectant, which helps to water proof the shoes. It has certainly come in handy, because though for a while we had booties to help keep the water off, more often than not my shoes take a couple showers a day! I was impressed by her professionalism and the one on one attention she gave me, especially when the store was super crowded and Beth was helping 2 other customers! I first came to Beck's looking for Dansko's (which I adore) and encountered five star service from Al. He has a great bedside manner and is extremely knowledgeable about shoes. His professionalism and lovely demeanor brought me back to Beck's for walking shoes. Gigi helped me this time in my quest for a good shoe. High arches and wide, differently sized feet make for a difficult fit! But she persevered and we found what I thought was the walking shoe of my dreams. Alas, it was not so and after a week I had to return them. When I returned to Beck's, I was warmly met by Gigi again who completely understood my situation. I was in your Capitola Mall store yesterday. I see a lot of employees come and go, but your employee Beth is the reason I return to purchase. She not only knows all about the shoes she sells but she was interested in why I was looking for a particular shoe, so she could direct me to exactly what I wanted. She makes it her mission to make me and other 'walk in's' feel welcomed. She also speaks very highly of management and the team she works with. Gigi is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. She set me up with great socks and comfortable insoles for my work boots on 2 different occasions now and has helped my fiance with the same on numerous occasions. I went in to look for a Dansko shoe recommended by many nurses that I work with. I went into the store and there was one person ahead of me. I waited patiently for the sales person to finish with the other customer. Al was his name, I asked for the shoe, he told me I should get a number 7 which obviously to me was too big. I asked for a number 6.5 which is the size I wear. He brought a 6 which was too tight to be worn with socks which we have to do as nurses. He was getting impatient with me, I went on Dansko website to see how the sizes run and they only carried full size numbers. He left to go and attend to another customer without an explanation or solution. I tried to talk with him about alternatives and he replied "some people were not meant to wear danskos, I do not wear them myself" he was rude, condescending and talked me down like a child. The shoes are $130.00 and I was not going to buy something that was not fitting. I left the shop since Gigi or Beth were not there at the moment. As I was walking in the mall, I saw Beth who I asked when Gigi who is great was to be back. She told me she could help, I told her that Al was rude to me and unwilling to help. She asked me to come back and she helped me find the right fit, suggested to buy inserts that helps grip my shoe. She was wonderful and helpful. Al came back later to apologies saying he was having a bad day but I had already lost trust in him. You never treat a paying or none paying customer for no reason like that. I was not once rude or impatient with him, he just did not like my presence or some reason did not think I was going to buy the shoe. I have all kinds of foot problems, so shopping for shoes has been a very difficult, often depressing and trying experience. Finding good help has been next to impossible. Beck's in Capitola Mall and particularly Gigi has changed that. On more than one occasion I have received great service from her and will gladly continue to shoe shop at Beck's. I went to Becks about three weeks ago in need of comfortable shoes. My feet were so sore, I didn't think I'd ever be able to enjoy walking again. I was assisted by GiGi who was just wonderful. She was so professional and kind. She took all the time needed to help me find the perfect fit. I walked out of there with a pair of Ecco sandals that I don't want to take off. GiGi even sprayed my shoes so they'd last during through moisture and rain. I bought a pair of shoes there as well. She was so knowledgeable about everything. I found myself here because my girlfriend wanted to return a pair of shoes bought a couple weks earlier because of a manufacturing defect. They dealt with the return quickly and courteously, with no questions asked and no receipt needed. While there i got talking to a really knowledgeable guy named Al, who found a great looking pair of sandles that fitted my odd sized feet perfectly. After being diagnosed with plantar fasciitis I was advised to improve my footwear. I needed an indoor shoe with a strong arch and heel support. As well as new inserts and an upgrade on my athletic shoes. I thought I would have to go to several stores to accomplish all this. Much to my delight I found everything I needed at Beck's. The manager Matt Carmody understood my needs perfectly and directed me to just the right shoes. He carefully measure my feet and invariably brought out shoes that fit perfectly. I solved all my footwear problems and left a very satisfied customer. The prices were fair, especially considering the personalized service and how I benefited from Matt's expertise. I do appreciate the ability to hold and try on a pair of shoes before buying, as well as being able to see all the styles at once. Of course there is high overhead when you have a real store, but for something as important as shoes, I consider this a justified expense. read more

My husband and I recently shopped at Beck's Shoes after our podiatrist recommended the store. We were greeted, yes greeted, by Gigi and subsequently fitted for inserts for our shoes and a new pair of Dansko shoes for me. The results have been quite amazing. My husband's plantar faciitis has been relieved by the insert that actually fits his arch, and my feet, which have had surgery, are much happier now that I have proper shoes and inserts. Plantar Fasciitis? Gigi Sondgroth is a "store team leader" at Beck's Shoes in the Capitola store. I've been buying shoes here for years because I have wide feet. Yesterday we wandered in (just because) and I noticed some items made for people with Plantar Fasciitis. Gigi immediately approached me (not in a pushy way) and started to tell me about the products. The night cast and the inserts (which I paid the doctor over $400.00 for) have not been helping. I listened to what she had to say and made the choice to try the products she showed me. She gave me a few simple tips about how to lessen my foot pain (that I'd never even thought about) including NEVER go barefoot, not even in the shower. Gigi knows what she is talking about, is personable, not pushy and if what she sold me works, I'm putting her on my Christmas list. If you have foot pain go to the doctor, but also stop in to Becks and talk to Gigi. She is the BEST!! read more

Amazing personal service, even when they are busy. Sales staff made sure I knew that THEY knew I was there and would get to me ASAP. When I was waited on, I was treated as if I were the only customer in the store. Personal, personable but not pushy. I left to meet my daughter next store in the shoe dept. of Macy's where she had been waiting 20 minutes for the one salesperson on duty in the dept. to even acknowledge that she was there. I limped into Beck's shoes but walked out nearly pain free. My right heel hurt so much that it was truly difficult to walk without a limp. Gigi was unbelievably helpful, with amazing knowledge about feet and what is good for them. She custom fit my walking shoes and golf shoes with insoles that simply took the pain away. I went to Beck's Shoes for the first time yesterday. I work outdoors in ecology, so its really important for me to have quality hiking shoes. I saw online that Beck's had a great selection of quality brands that I know and trust, so I went down to the mall to check them out. I was disappointed because I was in there for a long time and no one asked me if I needed help. It wasn't very busy. They did offer help to other customers who were older than me and had nicer clothes, but never to me. I wonder if it is because I look really young and have a beard and wear flannel. I don't look rich because I'm not, but I am still more than happy to spend good money on quality shoes. I went in yesterday as recommended by a doctor for plantar fasciitis. The first guy to walk up to me suggested a shoe I wasn't too fond of, just in curiosity about my options, I asked him about another type, and his response was "I know what I'm doing"! I was baffled by this, as I was talking with my mom on what to do. He says he's putting some shoes away and will be back. He comes back out to help SOMEONE ELSE!! Worst customer service from him, and I walked right out. After not wanting to come back, I knew that was my option. I walk in to find Beth whom was helping another customer at the time when I was there the first time around. I was so fortunate to get her to help guide me on where to go. She suggested every shoe that would help me, and just went and brought them all out for me. Oddly enough, the shoes she recommended, we're not even close to what Kevin said "I know what the doctor is talking about, and it's these shoes" no other options. Shoes what he knew. Great job trying to be a know it all, but far from it!! Beth really took her time with me down until closing point, but did not rush me, and she was very knowledgable about every shoe, and why or why not it would be the best for me.
